    Migas? Or is it?
    Courtney B.

I came to this establishment in December of last year with my companion after a short staycation in Dripping Springs. We came here as we wanted to support local and to get something close to where we were staying. When we walked, we waited to be seated on what appeared to be an extremely busy Saturday morning. We ordered one menu item each. My companion ordered breakfast tacos, and I ordered migas. Migas: Migas are fairly simple to make. Migas are a simple Mexican egg dish that consists of strips of corn tortillas (NOT tortilla chips) pan fried till just barely crisp, and then flooded with whipped egg and bright spices and quickly cooked together. At least that's what I thought it was....what I got was eggs with cold cheese that came from a bag unmelted on top of the eggs. A side tortilla that was out of a bag, not warmed, canned refried beans, and undercooked cubed potatoes. It was inedible. I am not sure if this was a one-off, but my companion's taco was also made with a bagged tortilla and topped with the same cold bagged cheese that I received on my plate. The service we received when here was pleasant, but the food was as previously noted inedible. While I love supporting local businesses, this is one establishment that makes it difficult for me to do.

This cute place we found for brunch recently. The chicken fried chicken I had was absolutely delicious, and my partner tried the chicken fried steak which was also great. Our server was wonderful, and the restaurant has a cool old-school vibe with classic restaurant. The environment was very clean, but the only downside was the lack of music in the dining area. We could hear the kitchen music which was a vide. Overall, I'd give it a four-star rating. Just thought you might want to check it out sometime!

Tried the Friday catfish today with Cole slaw fries and puppies, all delicious Finished with the chocolate pie just like my mom use to make it, delicious and so big I took half home for later. Coming Monday I will try their meatloaf lunch special and my waiter said better come early as they tend to sell out of it quick.

Upon the recommendation of the front desk at our hotel we went to Oak Creek Cafe for breakfast on a Sunday morning. The reviews of the restaurant were overall very good and when we arrived the restaurant was packed and we had a slight waiting time before our table was ready, all indicators that we are going to have a very good breakfast. Sadly this was not the case. I ordered the "Country Skillet" with the "Texas Toast" while my cousin ordered the same thing with the biscuit. When I think of Texas Toast I think of a thick slice of bread but what came out was just regular toast. The breakfast itself was ok not to much flavor. The prices were very reasonable but I would not go back to Oak Creek again.

The Texan 1/2 lb Burger with bacon, cheese, pickles, tomatoes, onion and lettuce.

As someone…read morewith celiac disease, it is SO rare to find a place that is not only completely gluten free, but actually tastes incredible too. We ordered a variety of items to share as a family including tacos, pizza, chicken and waffles, pastries, and drinks. Everything was packed with flavor. The pastries especially shocked me in the best way possible. The cinnamon roll was fluffy, soft, flavorful, and honestly one of the best gluten free pastries I've ever had. Most gluten free pastries I've tried elsewhere are dry, hard, crumbly, or taste like cake, but here they really perfected their recipes. You can tell they put a lot of time and care into the food. The oatmeal cream pie was TO DIE FOR. Probably one of my favorite things we tried. It was soft, sweet, flavorful, and did not taste "gluten free" at all. The yuzu citrus galette was also SO good and had such a fresh citrus flavor without being overpowering. Honestly all three pastries were amazing and I genuinely wish I could've ordered another round of all of them to go in like a 12-pack I also loved that they offered vegan crema and vegan cheese options. They even had a few GF & DF pastry options which I appreciated because those are honestly hard to find. A lot of their pastries also use alternative milks and it seemed like butter was the main dairy ingredient in many of them. I definitely hit the trifecta with gluten, dairy, and eggs lol, so eating out can sometimes be difficult. Finding truly gluten free places anywhere is honestly pretty rare, so when you find somewhere that is both safe and actually delicious, it feels amazing. I always carry Lactaid, Benadryl, and my EpiPen just in case. Thankfully my egg allergy is mild, but you never know. Let's just say everything looked way too good not to try and honestly... worth it. The BBQ chicken pizza was really good and the crust itself had great texture and flavor. It was on the thicker side, so I personally think a little more topping would balance it out better because sometimes it tasted a little more bread-heavy than BBQ chicken, but overall still delicious. The chicken and waffles were SO good too. They use plantain to crust the chicken which was honestly really unique and flavorful. I only had a bite to try it though because I unfortunately also have a mild banana allergy but like I said... I keep that thang on me lol. The only thing I personally would not order again was the Strawberry Matcha drink. It did not taste like a traditional matcha to me. I expected more matcha flavor, but mostly tasted coconut and strawberry foam. It just wasn't for me, but I would definitely come back to try their other drinks and refreshers because they have some really unique options. The menu itself is HUGE. They have breakfast, pizzas, sandwiches, lunch specials, pastries, cocktails, coffee drinks, and more. The location is kind of hidden but so worth finding. They even have a drive-thru. The inside is super cute with earthy, cozy, chill vibes and the patio/outdoor area was very well maintained. The staff was also incredibly kind and attentive. They constantly checked in, answered all our questions, and made the experience even better. I seriously wish a place like this existed near my house in California because I would absolutely be here all the time. This place is honestly a gluten free dream. If I'm ever back in Texas again, I'm absolutely coming back.
