The service was excellent, as always. Unfortunately, some of the food was a bit off during this visit. The ranch dressing tasted different than it has on previous visits, and I didn't enjoy it, so I left most of my side salad untouched. The broccoli rice casserole was also lacking flavor. I have typically avoided Cheddars but decided to give this location a chance. It wasn't busy but it was quite some time before I saw a server. A woman came flying around the corner with four plates and four rolls. She stopped and stared at me. 'Oh they told me they just seated a four top.' I told her it was just me. She stood there a bit trying to to figure it out then left after checking on another table. Oooohhhhhhkay. Eventually she came back with one roll and took my drink order. I ordered food too because there's no telling when she'd return. I was about to leave when she finally brought my tea. That was the last I saw of her, at my table anyway. The food was unremarkable. Food was horrible. Fried food tasted like month old oil. Steak ordered rare came basically blue with some kind of mucas looking organ in the middle of it. Sent that back. Talked to manager about the fried items, she was useless and never even came back. Those plates were basically uneaten and wasted. $10 discount on an $80 ticket for 2 meals not even eaten is ridiculous. My sister and I came in here a few days ago just having a girls dinner and when we got there - the service was below just okay.Our server Isabella was very nice that wasn't the issue but I feel like we didn't really see her or get asked if our food was okay. It was always packed cuz food was good and price was right Then all of a sudden food quality went down hamburgers were small and buns were bigger, Then the rest of the menu products went down too. Turns out a company took over them, a company That buys out restaurant chains called Darden They ruined Cheddars they have no business now .They also other ruined other Austin restaurants namely Chuy's A long time favorite of old Austin. Me and my bf always love going to cheddars and this isn't our usual location but we were in the area. We get seated and as time goes by , not a single server has greeted us or asked for our drinks . It is now maybe 10-15 min of sitting there waiting and no one yet . It is frustrating to be seated and wait there for nothing. I get up to tell the hostess if she could please move us to another servers area because no one has even greeted us in the past 15 min.. she proceeds to take us to another table and a server comes and brings us BURNT croissants .. I wish I took a picture . They were burnt and cold like they had been sitting out . At this point it's all just irritating me so we decided not to give this cheddars location our service . Have eaten here before, but it has become a trend for very long waits. Not bad food, but service has gone down in quality. We waited an hour after ordering and no food or refills, ended up leaving without eating food. The restaurant was not very packed, but the kitchen was struggling. They seemed to skip our order as people received larger orders when ordering after us with the same dishes. Management was very unorganized, claimed they were unaware of the situation, but was clearly visable in the kitchen and on the phone. Let's face it, this place isn't great. But it's good for a variety of options and quick service when you don't feel like cooking - though it is overpriced for what you get. I do feel like the quality of Cheddar's has declined since the late 90s. My favorites are the Lemon Pepper Chicken and the Buffalo Chicken Wrapper - they aren't anything I crave regularly because none of it is good. Me and my family love the homestyle feel of Cheddar's. For some reason the kids always get excited about going and we always have the best time. I think they really like the family style ordering that we're able to do and some of our favorites are the catfish dinner and the beer battered shrimp. It's always good to start off with onion rings and big old gallon of lemonade. We also really like the family house salad Wisconsin cheese bites. The service is always pretty good and the food is fresh and the wait staff makes you feel welcome. It's been awhile since I've been to Cheddar's. Thought we'd give it a try again on a Sunday afternoon. They always have a good varied menu to select from. The Wisconsin Cheese Bites are pretty good, as well as the buttery croissants you get once you're seated. Over-all the food was decent but not at their best today. The Chicken Tenders and beer battered shrimp were good but the fries were blah. A little over cooked with no flavor. I had the red beans and rice as a side and it was way too salty to my taste. Three of us decided to go to Cheddars yesterday because it offers a variety of meals and allows each of us to get exactly what we want. We can count on it being good. SECRETLY though to start off with a Cheddar Painkiller - my two companions say that is the way to go. It is licking good. or at least for me the designated driver, it certainly looked that way. They have a limit of two and I think my friends could have gone for more. I will add that drinks at Cheddars are reasonably priced and a good selection. NOW my favorite starters are the free croissants and choosing some appetizer like the Winsconsin's cheese bites. That's enough to get you started and enjoy. We all had something different and each commented on how good their meals were. I had the rib eye which was slightly undercooked, but my waitress easily took it back and brought it back in perfection. Our waitress, Monica, was superb. She kept checking on us and ensuring we had everything we needed. She was awesome and on top of her game despite a very long day. The only thing that held me back from a 5-star rating was the short staff. It took some time to get seated and although Monica did all she could, it was in the middle of changing from day to evening staff. It was a little havoc, but Monica still took care of us as best as she could. It's unfortunate but lots of these restaurants are short handed and lacking in adequate staff. So yes, it's Fathers Day, but I waited to come eat here until 4:30pm. There were a bunch of open tables when I arrived but the hostess quoted a 30-minute wait. I sat at the bar. I came here for an early dinner, and ordered a Coke, then was ignored for about 15-20 minutes before the bar tender offered to take my order. I went with the cheese fries as an appetizer. Figured I'd test the waters to see how prompt their service would be. Another 15-minutes rolls by and my order comes out. I asked the server for utensils but they never came. I started eating because cold melted cheese and fries are yucks. I flagged down a bartender in training for silverware and was handed a pack of plastic ware. Speaking of which, there was a guy to the right of me trying to saw through a steak with a plastic knife - good luck buddy! Anyway, there seem to be PLENTY of staff milling around here and there, yet a noticeable level of chaos about as well. The service industry is all about "service", today however, it was more versed towards extra long waits and ignoring customers, including me. I decided to get a to-go box for the remainder of my now cold fries and forego the experience of eating the main entree with plastic. 4 out of 5 for this experience alone. Melting cheese on fries and a pre-concocted Coke are hard to base on by themselves. As I finish this review, it's currently 6:07pm, noted due to the simplicity of my order and the lack service, as to my hour and a half time spent here. I'm checking out right now. I do work at a restaurant myself. But they forgot about us. It took them about 40 minutes to take our drink order. Oh yeah, just look at the fries. Came here with a girlfriend to for some nice southern comfort food! We were seated right away. The artichoke spinach dip delicious and definitely can fill you up quick. We came on Friday night for a birthday dinner. We had reservations for 7:30pm and I want to say it was so busy here that we didn't get to be seated until around 8pm. We just hung out in the waiting area. So everyone was hungry. Once we got to our area, they had a big long table (seated 12) with the rest of the guests having to sit in booths near the table. They asked that everyone sit near how they want their check to be split. Made sense. We had two servers working our dinner group. Our server was good at getting our orders immediately and we were eating by 8:36pm. The big table of guests, did not get their food until after we all ate in the booth area. I know serving a big group can get a bit hectic, especially on a very busy night. Hats off to them. We started with the chips and queso and added some beef to the queso. The salsa was good and the chips are thin and crispy. Yummy! I had the top sirloin with shrimp as an entree. Two sides were macaroni and cheese and Southern green beans. No complaints about anything here. My friend loves the country fried steak here so I want to try it the next time I come. read more

Shane (the district manager) never got back to us. I talked to another manager named Tina who told me she would personally get the memo over to him. I guess it never happened. These guys really have a service problem and their claim to try to fix it is just false. The other location off 183 has an original review for what happened initially if you are curious. I got in touch with the manager at this location so I would not have to deal with the management at the north location but it seems to be a bust here, too. No one cares and yet they reached out to me and asked me to get in touch with them. I thought it was a sign of wanting to fix things but I think I was mistaken. This is a sad day. Never have an issue when I come here as the service, food, and the prices are great! You have to understand the peak hours here - lunch and dinner hours are the peak hours. If you do not want to wait I highly suggest coming in early or waiting til the dinner rush is over. Food is made to order and so are drinks so I recommend getting an appetizer or two if you are super hungry. Service is pretty good too and will only lack if they are understaffed that evening but just be patient. You will get their attention and your food soon enough. Bar is open seating which I like as you can watch the game(s) or news and the fish as you wait for the rest of your party to come. If you're eating alone it is best to sit at the bar as service will be prime there. Parking never an issue and the lot is lit up as well and secure. read more
