This place has the potential to be wonderful. I was fortunate enough to visit this arena many years…read moreago when I was being recruited. I came back recently for a game against my Alma Mater and have to say that this place was rocking for a little bit. It's too bad that Wes Miller is incapable of coaching a basketball team because the crowd was booing before we ever got to halftime. I met a kind manager named Stewart or something along those lines. He is a great example of what every team should look for in a manager: fluffy, capable of grabbing balls, and on top of it! The seats weren't that comfy but oh well. This place has the chance to move to 5 stars if they start winning some ball games. I don't see that happening with Wes Miller, but who knows. An arena is only as good as its fans make it. Edit: Upon more recent developments... Another thing that was a bit off putting was when Stewart (the manager) asked if he could "top me off." At first, I thought he was offering me another beer, but his persistence to contact me through my socials -- I'll spare the details -- has lead me to believe he meant something else. Idk kinda weird. Fifth Third was still sweet. Creepy kid though.

I volunteered for an event here (graduation ceremony for the online university I work for) so I got…read moreto see behind the scenes. It's an intimate arena with pretty decent sightlines. They even have a bar area, which is still odd to me as a college arena, but hey, gotta make money. I actually thought the food options weren't as varied as I thought they would be, but then again it was offseason. I wouldn't mind seeing a basketball game here.

Went here for two years getting my Associates of Business in Culinary Arts, I loved the program and…read morethe kitchens are top notch and even better than a lot of the restaurant's here in Cincinnati. : In terms of the credit hour rate it is one of the lowest for Culinary Schools, I had friends attend the Culinary Institute of America and after two years they had spent over 100,000 just for tutiton, room and board and fees. After two years at MCI I spent around 8 thousand dollars and trained under Certified Master Chefs. :Since this is a community college, there is no school pride which is sad to see, a lot of students when asked about our basketball team didn't even know where the gym was. : Things to check out if you go there currently for lunch I suggest Bakery Hill on the 2nd floor of ATLC, everything is made there fresh everyday and the counter people are pastry students that really care about you, compared to the Overlook where the food is bland and way overpriced and greasy and the workers don't want to help you. : Also check out the Summit, it is an acting restaurant run by Chef Sean Kagy and his all student work staff in the kitchen and Donna and her all student wait staff. I would suggest going on Friday nights as they have had three courses plus wine pairings for around thirty dollars a person.

I called the bookstore on Monday to find out about the how and where on the parking situation. I was very happy to hear the parking garage is free! The garage is on #centralparkway at the intersection with #ludlowavenue. The employee on the phone was very helpful. I was told to park in the garage & go to level 5 for access to the walkway to the main building. Garage signs directed me to the stairs and elevators at the back of the structure. Upon exiting I crossed a campus roadway to enter the building. The building is attractive. It has high glass windows that let in a lot of good light. Upon entering there were stairs taking me up to the main level. It was here I encountered a friendly staff person. She gave me good additional directions and walked with me part of the way. The #bookstore signs lead me to the cafeteria and the #bookstore just beyond it. The cafeteria has plenty of seating with a wall of windows allowing for a pleasant view and plenty of outdoor light. Several students were using the area as place to study and read. Up ahead I entered the surprisingly small #folletbookstore. Basic school supplies are on the left across from the customer counter. There was one employee present who provided me with friendly service plus the short explanation of how the #bookstore was relocated when the #welcomecenter was remodeled. The #welcomecenter is the first thing you encounter when entering from the parking garage. This is a modern and welcoming campus. From what I have read it offers many fun & degree related courses at a reasonable price for the community. Until next time be kind to each other. #folletbookstore #cincinnatistatecollege @yelpcincy #education #clifton #parkinggarage

This is where I currently attend for my undergraduate and masters degrees. I am in my final year…read more There are a variety of reasons I decided to rate the university the way I did. On a positive note, the university of Cincinnati has a campus that is stunning with a variety of architectures from classical to modern and everything in between but somehow it works well. The campus feels like a small city since the population on west (main) campus is so large on about a square mile campus. Around campus is burnet woods which is a medium sized park and on the other side of burnet woods is downtown Clifton which has a graeters, movie theater, stores, boutiques and bars. All within walking distance. On the other side of campus are two parks within walking distance Fairview and Bellevue park. All of these parks are something that allow for students to get off campus and relax. Besides the parks Calhoun street and short vine both have bars, stores, restaurants, music venues and more and are right across the street from campus. The surrounding area has a ton of amenities. Regarding the academics of the school. I am provided with three different advisors for academic undergraduate, co-op and academic graduate. My undergrad advisor changes frequently which means they never know everything they need to know. Thankfully I always have been able to find someone who knows an answer to my question. I have had some bad experiences where an advisor was forceful and rude that I couldn't do something when I knew that I could and did end up doing the thing they told me I couldn't. Making sure to read the handbook for your program can be helpful in this way. Overall, most of my advisors have been excellent besides that hiccup. Research is something that is emphasized at the school and is heavily funded. This allows for a lot of opportunities in a variety of research labs. Co-op is something that is required of a lot of students and is something that UC is know for. This allows students to get off campus work experiences that look really good on resumes but also provide students with skills they need to perform well in industry or wherever they plan to go after school. The most negative thing about the school is safety. Although it is a lot better than it has been in the past (from what I have heard) there is always some sort of safety concern. Luckily UC has its own police department and is quick to respond to all of the help poles around campus but in the surrounding area there are places that should be avoided at night. I have heard of people being stood up. For safety and my advisor situation I took off a star. Besides those experiences I have loved the university and all the experiences it has to offer. It is located right near downtown Cincinnati and has shuttles that can take you downtown. It also always has something going on whether that be sports games, festivals, or other student led activities. Something is always going on.

If you plan to get an education here: DON'T. No need to explain because that's as best of a…read morewarning I can give you.
