After 15 years of being a patient, it ended abruptly. Dr. Wheatfills lack of compassion, bullying and aggressive nature sent me running out of his office on Wednesday, April 9...FOR GOOD! I was there for a 2nd extraction (the first went textbook). As a patient for all these years, he (and staff) knows I am just one of those patients who needs more than one (sometimes 3) shot of Novocain. Apparently that day he just didn't care. After he administered the first shot, waited the standard time for it to kick in, I wasn't numb. I looked him straight in the eye and said, "I'm not numb." While scratching the left side of my face. He said, "I'll give you a different shot directly into the tooth and we won't have to wait." The second that shot went in I gave a noticeable YELP and he continued. Grabbed his instrument and began to yank. Mind you this is a very large molar. I YELPED (as best I could with his hands in my mouth) very loudly. He grabbed my shoulder and said, "You can't do that!" Excuse me, I can't indicate my PAIN? I was in shock. I'm the patient, your ONLY priority right now. There was no apology. When I said (as best I could with a mouth full of gauze) "that hurt", he replied, "that was your tooth ripping from the jawbone." I thought, this guy is CRAZY. I started to question myself, my pain and sadly, did I deserve this? Maybe he was mad that he couldn't talk me into (bully) the $2K repair and only got $18 out of me? 15 years as a loyal patient, I recommended him to my friends and FAMILY. Please do NOT go to this man for anything. I'm so sorry to anyone who has endured his carelessness, aggression and bullying. For a self-proclaimed Man of God, I have a difficult time believing he has ANY compassion in his heart. Honestly, I have always felt a little bit of judgement from this doctor for not being Mormon. read more

Dr. Wheatfill is the nicest and the most considerate dentist I have ever gone too. He not only meets with you in his office to introduce himself and to let you know his qualifications, he also tells you about his family and how he runs things in his office. And after you have an appointment with him he ALWAYS calls the next day to see how you are doing!! :-) I have NEVER had a dentist do that to me. He is so thoughtful and wants to know if you are ok. He REALLY cares. Plus he is such a gentle dentist. He is so careful not to put you in any pain. I would totally recommend him. Everyone in the office is so friendly from Brenda in the office to Kelly the dental assistant. They are all so nice and so cheerful to everyone. One last thing is that they never tell you that you need more work then you do. They only do what is necessary to your teeth that needs to be done. So happy with my dentist! Also I needed a root canal and he referred me to the best endodontist ever! Thanks Dr. Wheatfil. Here I was scared to get a root canal and it was painless with Dr. Packer. He was awesome. Thanks again. Update! I went in yesterday to get the final filling by Dr. Wheatfil and it took 30 min and I was out of there. Such a great dentist and such a nice man. And then today I got a call asking if everything was ok and how I was doing! Such a nice dental office. All of the gals in there and the hygienist are just awesome! read more

I haven't had a regular dentist since I left Huntington Beach and my old dentist retired so I've hopped around from place to place the last couple years. I didn't really care for the last few dentists I've seen and saw that Dr Wheatfill was close to my house and accepted my insurance so decided to give him a try. IMPRESSED! Nice clean office in the Kaiser building, everyone is really nice, he brings you into his office to chat before getting to work which is nice & all high tech equipment, not old school like some other places. This is the first place I've been to where they take pictures of your teeth, not with a regular camera but a dental one I guess and show you the problems up close. The sweet lady that did my cleaning spent a whole hour cleaning my teeth. She did such a great job. Some people in the past spend a couple minutes picking, polish and you're out the door but not her, she was sooo good, my teeth feel and look amazing. I have Aetna insurance so I'm not sure about their pricing yet. I'm happy to have found a new dentist close to home! :) read more

Like a child, I put off going to dentist for far longer than I should have, and as a result I developed a very painful abscess in the lower right side. It was so painful that sleep that past couple nights has been impossible. A friend had referred me to Dr. Wheatfill several months ago, and I truly wish I had been more proactive about seeing the Doctor then. Gripped in pain, I called first thing this morning to make an emergency appointment to deal with my issue. I have to say that I was immediately struck by how warm, empathetic and knowledgable the receptionist, Brenda, was with me on the telephone. I have always found it to be true that you can discern a lot about an organization and its leadership by your general impression of the Receptionist and other employees. Brenda made a wonderful impression on me, so I was very hopeful that I had called the right practice for me. It was a very busy day for Dr. Wheatfill, however, Brenda found an early morning spot for me. I was immediately seen by Dr. Wheatfill just a few minutes after my arrival. I liked him immediately because I could tell that he was genuinely very concerned about my suffering, and I also had an immediate sense of comfort and confidence in his intelligence and ability. After one quick Xray, Dr. Wheatfill carefully explained to me my predicament and what needed to be done. He didn't pass me off to any else, but focused all of his attention on me and went to work. The procedure was completed quickly and expertly, all the while he made every effort to minimize or eliminate the pain of my swollen abscessed jaw-line. The procedure was performed perfectly and eliminated my pain quickly. My judgement of any medical practice is based upon the following factors: Knowledge and Skill Genuine concern and empathy Office Environment and Demeanor of employees Respect for the patients time Reasonably priced Dr. Wheatfill scores a perfect 5 stars in all of these categories, and in addition, he went above and beyond the call of duty to take care of someone who is not even one of his regular patients. Doctor Wheatfill explains to you step by step what needs to be done and I like that because last place wanted an arm and a leg to do stuff I've never even heard of, didnt even understand the procedures. I was recommended to Dr. Wheatfill by a family member and and so glad I went to his office! Dr. Wheatfill met with me in his office prior to getting started on the exam and we went over my medical history and chief complaints. He took the time to get to know me and told me about his education and experience. It was a completely different experience from my previous dentist's office. The office staff and doctor were welcoming, kind and caring. I had X-rays sent over from my previous dentist's office and they were blurry - I could see it with my own eyes! We took new xrays at Dr. Wheatfill's office and they were much higher quality. Dr wheatfill had state-of-the-art technology and was able to thoroughly image my mouth. I was told my my previous dentist that I needed a root canal and I went to Dr. Wheatfill for a 2nd opinion - boy am I glad I did! Dr. Wheatfill recommenced replacing my current filling before jumping to a root canal...makes me wonder why my previous dentist didn't try that, as they were the ones that performed the filling to begin with. Upon checkout, they took the time to go over costs and explain options with me, something I didn't get at my previous dentist's office either! I left there with a warm fuzzy feeling. I went to Dr Wheatfield 25 plus years ago I live on the Central Coast now and have not been able to find a dentist I really felt comfortable with. I am traveling 300 miles just to go back to see him he put some beautiful crowns on my teeth 30 years ago that was knocked out when I was a young girl.
