I've started growing out my hair since the date of my last review - and Naz & the other barbers have seamlessly taken on the task of making sure that I'm always looking my absolute best every time I stop by. Can't recommend their haircuts enough! The other fundamental selling point of Clip Joint is its steadfast dedication to preserving classic barber shop culture. Think about it - the ole' barber shop is one of the last places where a guy can go to discuss life, sports, current events, politics, etc. without fear of judgment or stepping on anyone's toes. I've always found that the clientele at Clip Joint are more than happy to talk about what's going on in the world as of late - and although some of these spontaneous intellectual discussions can get animated, they're always insightful and thought-provoking. Who knows? Maybe the barber shop is the new therapy couch now, hahaha. Anyways - Clip Joint reminds my gold standard 7 years after my first visit. This made me stop going there. Today I was driving past and thought I'd try them again. The old lady (I believe her name is Nancy) was the only one available, but I figured I'd give her another chance. Big mistake! She was condescending the whole time. I asked to leave 3 inches on the top, and she cut off most of my hair leaving barely an inch on the top. I told her this was not 3 inches. She held up 3 fingers like a salute and said, See? 3 inches! I said, lady, a finger-width is not the same as an inch. I showed her a credit card and told her that a credit card width is over 2 inches, and her supposed 3 inches was less than that. I even held up the card against my head and explained to her that she left less than an inch of hair on my head. She got upset and told me that in hairdresser school, 3 fingers means 3 inches. I told her that even if that were true, her customers don't go to hairdresser school and for us normal folk, 3 inches is 3 inches, not 1 inch. The insane part was that even when she put her 3 fingers against my head, it was longer than the hair on my head. When I called her out on it she asked me to get out. She said, I don't want your money, just leave. Wow, way to treat your customers. TLDR, the old lady that works here doesn't know how to cut hair. If you do go here, try to wait for someone else to become available.

A bad cut lasts for about two weeks depending on hair growth, (trust me I've had horrible cuts in the past) and it can eat away your confidence, as well as provide a falsified superficial image of yourself to people. For the obvious issues stated above there is a solution , and that is 110 Barber Shop ! My barber of choice is Steve , cool guy who's always willing to challenge himself to any cut . He has helped me out in many tough situation when I needed an emergency haircut. As previously stated , your barber has a lot of power. I Used to drive to different places from downtown LA to Newport Beach for a haircut (crazy at first thought) but the fact that these guys and women who cut here are so focused on their craft , and are truly there for the community and customers, allows me not to think twice about making that trek far out like I used to , when they're right here in our harbor area . My brother struggles with a disability, and I really appreciated how gentle and patient the barber was with him. He made sure to include my brother in the process, asking him questions about how he wanted his hair, which helped him feel comfortable. It was great to see that level of care. I hope to bring my brother back the next time we're in the area. Their prices are also very reasonable. Definitely a hidden gem! The music added to the good vibes, and all the barbers seemed relaxed and friendly with one another - no ego, just a chill atmosphere.
