Across from South Central Park and next to the Winter Haven Library resides Richard's Fine Coffees. For over 25 years Richard's Fine Coffee's has been supplying downtown Winter Haven with caffeinated beverages and food. David Tuttle opened Richard's Fine Coffee's on June 11, 1996. Upon realizing that there were no independent coffee house in Winter Haven, he wanted to bring residents and visitors a new coffee drinking experience. Richard's originally operated out of the Arcade Building before moving to the new Winter Haven Public Library when it opened its new building in 2005. In the ensuing years Richard's Fine Coffee's has become a cornerstone to the revitalization of downtown. One of the keys to Richard's longevity has been providing a place where people can meet, relax, and enjoy delicious coffee and bites. On the first Friday of every month they have a live music event. They serve a daily breakfast and lunch menu that includes hot and cold coffee drinks, breakfast sandwiches, bagels, hot and cold sandwiches, salads, soup, and pastries. I popped in for caffeinated refreshment during a recent trip to Winter Haven. I like how you can enjoy your drinks and food in their large dining room, on the patio, or across the street in beautiful South Central Park. This was our second time patronizing Richard's. Today was a blustery COLD day, but I won't let that aspect interfere with my review (getting warmed up fun the hot coffee). I ordered a regular coffee with cream. The better half ordered a Latte. We also ordered a blueberry crumb cake to split. There was quite a variety of wonderful looking pastries to choose from. The crumb cake was warmed up for us and brought to our table. The coffees were ready within 5 minutes. The coffees were delicious (yes, I sampled the latte), one of the better fresh coffees I've had. The location is super cute and I love that it's attached to the library. It's situated in an area with several walkable businesses and feels very small town cutesy! There is plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors. The service was fine, very perfunctory, but not memorable. The coffee was overly strong and also quite sweet, not to my taste. The chocolate chip cookie was likewise sweet but not otherwise flavorful. I will try to come back and give the coffee another try, maybe a different flavor would be better. read more

I was in Winter Haven to take some photos and was recommended I come here! This place is adorable. Their outdoor festive decor is so festive and it has a great location. The inside is low-key with a very chill vibe and some good food. All their staff was SO nice here (great service) and if I am by this area again I will definitely stop by !! read more

I found this lovely cafe and decided to try it out one weekend morning. It was nice and cozy upon arrival and the welcome was very warm and light. Since we were new there we got a caramel macchiato with almond milk and a chai tea with almond milk. Both were very tasty, however the coffee was a little light for our preference. The veggie bagel sandwich was delicious. The toppings tasted fresh and the flavor is the bagel itself was very tasty. I'm very interested in trying this place out again and hopefully to dine inside this time since outside was too hot we took it to go. If you're in the area and want a nice coffee shop to grab a tea, coffee or cold drink, this is a great choice to try out for brunch or breakfast. read more

Good coffee, nice pastries, friendly workers, rude customers. In Winter Haven for a family event. Visited Richard's for coffee one day, enjoyed it, stopped another day for breakfast when they just opened. My family went to sit at an outdoor table while I ordered. A female customer in front of me said "not there, there are regulars who sit there!" I literally laughed at her rudeness, certainly not worth the aggravation to address her behavior at this stage of her life. Staff didn't hear it, not their fault. This was our first stop out of many on Tuesday. When we got to the counter I said good morning and ended up repeating myself because the girl either didn't hear me (unlikely) or just didn't respond initially. We ordered 2 coffees and were asked to wait which is understandable. Something happened with another patron and the parking police so instead of making our drinks they were all gossiping and watching outside. The drinks were good in the end, I had just wished for a better start to our morning because after leaving here we walked to the Christmas tree display and I proposed to my now fiancée. My mother had an appointment in Winter Haven and due to the quarantine, I was unable to accompany her inside the building. So I decided to go find a coffee shop while waiting. Thanks to Yelp, I found Richard's just a few blocks away. It's located at the rear of the library, with a lovely fountain outside and cafe tables. Plenty of parking around, plus a long strip garden park to walk nearby. Perfect spot for a coffee shop. I went inside and discovered that it was very, very busy! The menu was a typical coffee menu with bakery items plus sandwiches, etc. I ordered an Iced Toffee Coffee and a chocolate chip cookie. The sweet young lady at the counter fixed me up in a jiffy and I went to sit outside, away from the crowd. (No place to safely sit inside, unfortunately.) The cookie was perfection. Nice and soft, and more chocolate inside than appears on the outside (nice!) and the coffee was delicious; the kind that keeps you drinking long after the ice has melted. I can totally understand why this place is so popular. If I lived here, this would definitely be on my coffee rounds! read more

Chicken salad sandwich was yummy and filling with a crumb cake for dessert left me full. Service was quick and pleasant, I had take out and was in and out too quickly to notice the ambiance. I did notice the kiosk for tip and remember feeling frustrated that it prompted me in a take out order. I had to stop by the Winter Haven library, and came across Richard's Fine Coffees. As I was in NEED of a coffee, I decided to try this place out. It's basically attached to the library - separated only by a hallway. Places to sit (tables & chairs) inside & out. I ordered an iced Vienna Latte and a slice of banana nut bread. Coffee was delicious-will definitely order that again. Bread wasn't to my taste, however nicely made. Plenty of other goods for me to try next time I go. The 2 workers were pleasant. If you're in the area, I say give this place a go.....grab a book from the library, grab a coffee/snack and relax. read more

Cool coffee place! Their website definitely doesn't show everything that they have. They make a lot of different coffees and flavors. They have a lot of big pastries. They also have frappes and smoothies and sandwiches. There's a good amount of seating too. The people there are nice. I tried their cafe cocoa - kind of like a mocha. Unfortunately, it did not taste very good. But I wouldn'f decline coming back - if I do, they have a lot of other options and I'd try something different. read more

I've heard about Richards forever, but never got around to going until today. I left my homemade iced coffee in the car and went into Richards to see what it's really all about. I ordered an iced coffee, with cream and sugar, it's about 90 degrees outside today by the way. The iced coffee tasted like milky water, hardly any coffee flavor to speak of. Iced coffee is a fickle beast, because quite often it isn't made properly and then asking for a remade drink doesn't do anything to help it. Otherwise I would've asked her to remake it. Very disappointed in the coffee, really doesn't live up to the name. I also ordered a brownie which was quite tasty, although it would've been better warmed up. Overall it is a cute space though. Good amount of seating for the small overall size and it's right next to the public library. Who doesn't love books plus coffee. One star for the caffe.
