I read (a lot) and have been pretty active with all the libraries in my communities in the past,…read morebeing on the Friends of the Library Boards, volunteering to assist with community programs through the library and even coming in to just assist with restocking shelves. I even at one point in time made a huge donation to assist with building a children's library at a past library. I love reading and I want it to make sure it is accessible for my community at no cost. When I moved to Hurst, I was excited because it was a larger city then the last city I lived in and I was excited to get involved with a larger library. I visited and got a library card but when I asked if there was any area that they were looking for assistance in, I was told to go check the website with an attitude. I understand that a larger library = a larger staff and resources but I have never had someone from the library be so irritated about someone want to offer to be of assistance. The interaction was such a turn off that I never pursued it further, instead I have found another library in the local area that I consider my "home" library and I have tried to make self of use there. I do still use the library in Hurst - but I try to go in, get what I need and get out without speaking to anyone. The few interactions I have had have been better but no one has had a great attitude that has made me want to spend more time there.

Been thinking about heading back to school. This campus offers a paralegal program, so I headed to…read morecampus in order to speak with an advisor. Unfortunately, no one was available to speak with me; however, a phone appointment was scheduled for next Monday at 10 a.m. Woohoo! The lady I spoke with was very accomodating and satisfied every question and concern. She was ultra-professional and didn't seem in any hurry to move on to the next person. This showed me how much she really cared, and that I simply wasn't a number or random student to deal with. This is an open-air campus, which means the buildings aren't connected. Wonder how that would fare during inclement weather. Anyway, please check out this school.

What irked me was that the buildings were not all connected to each other so if you had class in one building and then class in another and it was raining, well good luck getting soaked or whatnot! Also when I was there, there wasn't that many spots of food choices on campus, just a Subway from what I remember. There was no coffee shops on campus from what I also remember, the closest one being that Dunkin across the street that I'm not even sure if it still exists or whatnot. The advisors there too weren't necessarily the brightest either as they had me working my own schedule out and what classes to take.

I went here just to check the school out and they had me filling out loan applications before I even knew what I wanted to get a degree in then after having me approved for loan told me I could pick anything off of a list of certifications they offered so they could hurry and enroll me to start that season. It was all very rushed almost like a pushy car salesman selling you a lemon. Pharmacy Technician sounds good right! Wrong! I have been paying on this loan for 9 years and nothing to show for it except probably 9 more years of payments. Now I can't even get a loan to go to a community college to get my basics I am stuck working at Walmart making $15 an hour because I can't get paid as much anywhere else. I am grateful for Walmart paying as much as they do.

The price quoted was a lot with a 10 week wait! But after they explained what repair entailed and what to look for when purchasing a BIble that lasts, I understood. I didn't get the name of the person that spoke to me, but she had excellent customer service skills and she used them, taking time to explain the process so very kindly. I decided to just buy the kid a new Bible (one not glued, but sown together, her recommendation) but if I ever need a book repair service, they will surely get my business. If you want a quick-and-dirty commercial fix, this is not your place. But if you are looking for a European time machine that will take a beloved book back to what it was or even better, this is the spot for you. We came to the Book Doctor with a small devotional, quite honestly a lost cause with no cover or binding and several severely damaged pages. We were hoping for some sort of cover and binding to preserve it since it is of great sentimental value and over 90 years old. What we received back was a gorgeous gem, a true made-to-order family heirloom. Not only was the cover beautiful, the binding is a work of art and pages we thought were lost forever were delicately and expertly restored. We stand amazed. Again, if you expect to do it on the cheap and have it by next week, forget it. But if the book in question matters to you and you budget for time and money, plan in advance, make an appointment with one of their experts, then expect the best. These are artisans who will pour all their skill and experience into your valued piece and devote entire days solely to its restoration.
