Been thinking about heading back to school. This campus offers a paralegal program, so I headed to campus in order to speak with an advisor. Unfortunately, no one was available to speak with me; however, a phone appointment was scheduled for next Monday at 10 a.m. Woohoo! The lady I spoke with was very accomodating and satisfied every question and concern. She was ultra-professional and didn't seem in any hurry to move on to the next person. This showed me how much she really cared, and that I simply wasn't a number or random student to deal with. This is an open-air campus, which means the buildings aren't connected. Wonder how that would fare during inclement weather. Anyway, please check out this school. read more

Tarrant County College - Northeast Campus - Colleges & Universities Near Me - Hurst, Texas

I used to go here before transferring over to a university (UNT). It's alright, it's just old and run down from what I remember. What irked me was that the buildings were not all connected to each other so if you had class in one building and then class in another and it was raining, well good luck getting soaked or whatnot! Also when I was there, there wasn't that many spots of food choices on campus, just a Subway from what I remember. There was no coffee shops on campus from what I also remember, the closest one being that Dunkin across the street that I'm not even sure if it still exists or whatnot. The advisors there too weren't necessarily the brightest either as they had me working my own schedule out and what classes to take. read more

The administration book store counselor are no help at all . I had an ebook that was included with my tuition and when I started class no ebook and I have to drive to south campus to obtain book because not available at this campus. This does not make sense and they refused to assist me and then make it look like I'm the problem. They are so attentive when taking your money but after that they don't care!!! read more

I returned to school as an adult. The drone in front of the class and school's curriculum is nothing short of indoctrination of Marxism, Racism, and Entitlement. This is totally unacceptable! My heads of the class, because in my opinion there was NO teaching occurring, they were condescending to those of us who were old enough & bold enough to call out their false assertions with critical reasoning. One head-of-the-class threw me out of its classroom because she could't defend her BS with facts and she "...can't stand military or former military in her class!" (I am a disabled Marine and take GREAT PRIDE in my service & wearing my Marine Corps T-Shirts! I also enjoyed watching her throw her 3 year old tantrum.) The REAL AND PRESENT DANGER is THE CHILDREN (Regardless of age) ARE ACCEPTING THE INDOCTRINATION TO THE POINT THEY ARE WILLING TO USE VIOLENCE not CRITICALLY THOUGHT OUT DEBATE. read more

This is by far my favorite campus, though I like the councilors at south better. There is an art feel to this campus and it's refreshing. If you get Dr. James Varnado as a counselor you sit your entire meeting waiting for him to pull up your file. He's definitely slow with the computer, but works with you on everything else. I just attended a summer 2 math class in the same building as "College for kids" is held. There should be fair warnings of this, because these elementary kids are extremely loud and disruptive! They are screaming 3 times during their "passing periods" while I'm in my 4 hour class. I LIKED NE campus, but after my first degree, I have changed my mind. The councilors are still the easiest to schedule with, but do not take a summer 2 class here if it's a subject you need uninterrupted attention on. Very little peace during summer 2. read more

Coming from someone who has a Bachelor's degree from Baylor from 2011, I am actually really enjoying my time "post-Baylor" here at TCC. I graduated thinking I was going to med school but now I am back getting my nursing pre-reqs. The Northeast campus is known for its challenging science courses-- and challenging they are! I wouldn't leave here without taking at least one class with Dr. Kucera and one class with Mrs. Jacaruso. Though this used to be a community college, it is now a well respected college with a good number of professors as opposed to grad students/teachers with masters degrees. It's nice to have professors who have put in the hours in a lab, done the research, and really know everything there is to know about their line of work. I would definitely recommend this school to anyone considering getting their pre-reqs taken care of before going off to university, taking classes during the summer, or picking up another skill! read more

THIS COLLEGES ADVISING/REGISTRAR/FINANCIAL AID OFFICE are the absolute worst i have ever had to deal with at any school i have been to. they let students work in the offices and they are rude, absolutely so stupid and not helpful. in order to change degree plans, check on class statuses or the status of financial aid you have to go through so many hoops and stay on hold with so many people over the phone and ever single person has a different answer to my questions. so difficult to deal with and they make you feel like your problems are irrelevant and your fault and provide no help at all. read more

This place is the greatest. I got my education from TCC NW, and don't even get me started on the Walsh Library. That place is really something else. They offer almost every text book of classes that are offered at the campus. So I barely had to spend much money on books for the semesters. Not to mention the staff is so great, they will help you as much as they possibly could, and a wealth of information can be found at the librarians. But enough about the library. The campus has a real nice view of the Marine Creek lake. So between my classes I like to take a stroll and just take in the sights. I also really enjoy the free tutoring service for math, science, and english! What more is there to possibly want? If I could get all my schooling done, then I totally would. My one and only problem with the campus, is the lack of food options. I mean subway? All the time? You kinda get to the point where no matter what kind of sandwich you get, they all kind of taste the same. Not that the staff is bad or anything they're all super friendly, but it's subway. Woulda loved to have a cafeteria with a wide variety of food. Like idk? Milkshake Mondays, Taco Tuesday, Waffle Wednesday?? Also one last thing, the bookstore is crazy expensive. There you'll find your typical items like snacks, pencils, notebooks, so on, all for only 3x their normal price! Wow! Aside from all this. Tcc is pretty awesome. Would go again. read more

Very friendly staff, they are very helpful to new students. Although, they do heavy policing on campus. Be prepared to get pulled over on campus, the police on this campus are horrible and very rude. The police pull you over for no reason on campus. read more

Not the school you want to get your degree from unless you're like me and really had no choice because of financial reasons. Administration is fairly incompetent and has no consideration for time restraints as they will absolutely take every bit of the 10 business days they are allotted to get back to you. Then they will say you didn't complete your request in time when it was their fault that you couldn't complete it in time. 60% of the professors are good quality professors but the other 40% are absolute know nothings or so old that they are teaching out dated material. It's a shame I got a degree from there but like I said only do it if you have no other option. Garbage school with garbage opportunities. $55 an hour just doesn't get you a good quality education like they claim, unfortunately.... it's a shame because their mission statement isn't fulfilled in the least bit. read more

This well-designed campus won't necessarily get you squared away for the best type of job but there are always a variety of professors to choose from (an enormous amount at even this type of community college) to where if you can't find a review of them at RateMyProfessor, you can always ask a dozen or more who can give you an honest grasp of the curriculum, hours and demands required. I also worked at the Audio/Visual tech portion of the campus which had solid pay, hours and allowed you to do various tasks as long as you were a student there. The bookstore prices varied but were often over-the-top, despite solid selections for class or for fun. The parking is always a nightmare and it's not helped by the fact that the guest parking is so tiny, let alone taken up by students half the time pretending to be guests. Police also love to have a hot spot and check on weather or not your vehicle is up to date, how many tickets you have, etc. so be prepared for anything else in addition to speed traps as it's right by the Hurst police department building. The cafeteria often had enough options besides relying on just Subway and it's even better for any creative arts, business, engineering or social based majors. The science classes and the counselors who suggest the various classes/requirements need extensive work as there are often too few to choose from in that particular area, costly for whatever semester (more than the usual), require far too much outside help from class and are limited by class seats available, you don't know what you're in for until it's too late to drop, and its often better to take them during the summer so that you can have the class time compressed and less distractions with all the other classes. The gym is always nice as its a friendly environment, great prep rooms, different workout options to choose from, safe shower room area. The library often has solidly designed sections and while there are barriers to pass through in terms of how long you can rent, how to access/find the material via computer and bigger demands for just to rent a space to study, there is still enough references to where you feel laid back and can have an easy going experience. Part of it's issue though is sometimes finding a computer you can use although I'm sure the restrictions will keep changing up since there are too many people goofing around and not using it for what its supposed to be used for in the first place. Overall, the campus is solidly designed to where it's not hard to find which area of campus to go to, great for first timers and returning students, and has enough outside references for those unsure of what decisions to make for their scholarships, academic/professional careers and there are also some solid stores/apartments (even a Walmart, Target & various gas stations nearby) so options are never limited. read more

My rating opinion about TCC is about a 2.5 star to a 3 star. Ive had instances here in the short time ive attended school here that have been absolutely stellar to absolutely infuriating. Here are my experiences: unless you're a bright eyed student fresh out of high school, the counselors are useless, and provide you with little to no guidance and often times wrong information. Since im a transfer student going back to school, ive tried speaking with multiple counselors trying to get some advice on classes many times and have been given conflicting information or information irrelevant to the information you are trying to get. the admissions and registrar office are also infuriating: between admissions and counseling i have received different and conflicting information on requirements and timeframes every since time I have had to go to those offices to get assistance on topics such as financial aid, transcripts, etc. The nice thing is there is no one that students can go to above the basic staff to get a problem resolved or rectified with all the incorrect information flying around. their only reaction is to shrug and tell you that its too bad. Lets talk about hybrid classes: unless you dont have a life, dont take them. registration bills them as 49% in class, 51% online. that is a flat out lie. its more like 85% online and 15% in class. Even with those ratios dont expect to actually have a lecture with formal instruction. you teach yourself completely and be completely swamped with homework. My first week of class consisted of three sections worth of homework that was due 3 days after the assignment was issued. AND make sure you work ahead, because your exams will cover material that you're supposed to be learning on teh same week you're tested on. what a joy. Rate my professor is definitely not a reliable source with instructors here. so far only one instructor has been compared correctly so don't rely on that very much. i also hate the fact that the majority of my classes require online textbooks. as a student we still have to shell out hundreds of dollars for the latest book without hope of getting any type of return, but you have to be tied to an actual computer to receive all the features of the textbook. Theyre not visible on smartphones, and only part of teh interactive features such the video examples are available to ipads or tablets. IMO If you require students to buy an electronic copy, it should be available for partial return AND you should make your expensive products compatible with more than a desktop computer Here's the good: faculty is actually excellent: From the tutoring room personnel to the gym staff these people are friendly, and very willing to help if you're willing to give them the time. These people really do make the overall experience a pleasant experience. course content here is decent. thankfully grades are posted quickly, they stick to teh course calendars and instructors are fairly easy to communicate with. so far ive enjoyed the material covered in the courses I've made overall with the exceptions of the admissions office and the counceling department (i could go on for days about their shortcomings) the college is a decent place to attend however i am looking forward to getting away to my 4 year college next spring so i dont have to deal with this mess anymore read more

These community colleges aren't bad by any means. It also REALLY depends on which campus you attend. The South campus is pretty... blah. The Northwest and Southeast are definitely the nicest. The one in Hurst is average. I haven't seen the downtown campus yet. Overall in my years of taking classes at all four of the aforementioned campuses you could say I'm a "fan." Probably the most of the NW for having the nicest campus, friendliest people (students & staff) and overall best learning experience possible. read more

I love this school! Not only because It's my first while living in Dallas but, because the atmosphere at this specific campus is conducive to growth. Old and young are challenged by amazing professors at this campus. Sure, we may not have a cafe or any fun hang outs besides Subway but hey...you're here to learn from the cream of the crop. read more

What can I say? I spent two years of my life here. I was supported, encouraged, and rewarded for my hard work. Most teachers are excellent and I earnestly believe the quality of education received at TCC is better than at most local universities. However, of course some teachers are quite terrible (check Rate my Professor, seriously). The worst thing about this campus is the apathy of the students-- but if you want to escape that you're going to have to go to a university or transfer over to the over-funded and bright-eyed Trinity River campus. I actually really enjoyed my time here at TCC ... The show community hits the head on the nail of how a certain time period of shenanagans I had here. Anyway in all seriousness I have had some really amazing professors here, others I didn't care for. I mostly took basics which I highly recommend doing here instead of paying tripple the price at a university. Plus the theater deparment is STELLAR for community college. Ive seen some amazing productions supporting friends and classmates. As well they will have some intressting events like years ago they held a series of movies that each department picked and I got extra credit for going to see blade runner and writing a philosophy paper on it! read more

Got my associates degree, at a price about 8.5% of state college, at TCC NE. Learned to enjoy the college learning and student experience; then transferred to UTA, University of Texas at Arlington, and learned to hate the college standardized testing expectations, hated the professors that would not talk about anything other than the state's testing expectations, which was all of them. I ran out of money, hated the professors, and lost faith in the college experience leading me to drop out. I learned far more in two years at TCC than the one year at UTA that tried so hard to make me hate learning. P.S. The North East campus is alright but the downtown Trinity River campus is aesthetically so much better. Though I would highly recommend anyone in the area spending your first two years at any TCC campus, you can always transfer later, but TCCD has better teachers than UTA at a price that will not bury you in student loans. read more

There are no reviews yet for TCC. Seriously, how is this possible? Anyway, I have taken about 37 hours of credit classes at TCC in the last year and a half and have to say that, surprisingly, I am actually pretty impressed with the place overall. Granted, you must keep in mind that it is a community college and you can't expect things to be university equivalent, but with that in mind there are lots of things to like about TCC. As an adult student with a full-time job one of the things I most appreciated about my time at TCC was the wide availability of options for how to take classes. I had no trouble finding classes I needed or wanted that were offered either online or in evening sessions. Despite these class formats, I never felt like the educational value offered was lacking. A number of my on-campus professors mentioned having taught at local universities (TCU in particular). They explicitly stated that they taught the exact same classes to those students (who were paying quite a bit more obviously). The online classes are no pushovers either. They will make you work, and as long as you can learn through reading the text and professor notes (as opposed to lectures), you will learn too. The quality of the professors really seemed to stand out as well. As I mentioned, many of these individuals had experience at university level teaching. Many of my professors held doctorates, as one would expect at the university level, and several more had extensive grad school credits in their chosen fields. In every case, however, I felt I had professors who really cared about their subjects and who spent time and effort on teaching it to others. I know this will not be the case across the board for everyone and I highly recommend using a ratemyprofessors type of service (I always did), but you can find the right people at TCC. The ultimate point in favor of TCC, of course, is value. At $50 per credit hour for in-county residents, you can't do much better for higher education. I frequently spent more on books for a class than I did on the class itself. Now that I've transfered to a university, I doubt I'll ever be able to say that again. And that leads me to one final positive point about TCC: you can take this education to other places. I mistakenly thought prior to attending TCC that going to community college was a good thing, but also one that would likely hold you back from some goals. I thought that maybe some universities would accept the credits as being subpar or otherwise inadequate. I can say unequivocally from personal experience that this is not the case. I have recently transferred to a university that is rated by US News and World Report as a tier 1 private institution and all of my credits have transferred just fine. Additionally, my wife took several classes at TCC and has recently finished her bachelor's degree at another tier 1 private university. Now, she is about to begin graduate work at a prestigious, top 10 ranked law school. Her decision to return to school, and TCC in particular, has led her to a place where heads of state and industry are produced. A TCC education will not hold you back. All that said, the school is not perfect. Don't expect perfection. Not all of the professors are great. Not all of my classmates would or could express similar sentiments. But go in with an open mind and this can be the starting point of something great. read more

This is the WORST school possible, actually can do with NO stars! For anyone trying to go, Please do not waste your time and money. I WISH I would have known that before coming. Unless you a straight out of high school student, the school does not care about your education at all. The teachers are so lazy, doesn't take the time to explain the material at hand besides stating "you should have already learn that in high school." Well sorry most of the students haven't been to high school in years, ALL they care about is their pay check. This school is so sad, I tried my best to push through but honesty it's really not worth the stress. They put a load of test on you but don't cover half the material but expect you to know the information. The administration will give you the run around and NEVER know what their talking about. So any future students please save your money for a better school that's worth your time and that will take your education seriously. SOO MANY STUDENTS complain about having to retake a class over because the teachers were no help! YOU can NEVER get a full understanding of the lesson and one teacher even stated to me "she doesn't like to repeat yourself", well excuse me I didn't get it and your just reading off a book/power point. I came to TCC right out of high school & it was a great transition from high school to college. You quickly realize that you are now a grown up & the teachers won't hold your hand like they did in high school. The main reasons I decided to go the community college route to get my AA instead of going straight to a University, are: For pretty much the same quality classes you would get at a University, it's less than half the price. Especially since the majority of my teachers were also professors at some major TX Universities (like UNT, UTA, & TCU). The second main reason I decided to go here is because I like the fact that there are only about 35 students per class, so it was a lot easier to get that one-on-one teacher time, if needed. Whereas in any University, the classes are MUCH larger & it's almost impossible to get that personal time with a teacher if needed. I find that I learn much better in this environment of having smaller student to teacher ratios. This campus is the "main" campus, so this campus offers the most classes compared to the other tcc locations. This is also the oldest campus, I believe it was built sometime in the 60s. I have also been told by numerous students, & EVEN professors that the Northeast Campus is the "hardest" campus & the teachers are much more difficult at this campus. I have never been to another TCC campus, but I have been told this by numerous people, so there probably is some truth to it. But it doesn't really matter either way if you're coming to college to learn, you can succeed here. I have had some truly amazing teachers here, & I've also had my fair share of not so great teachers at this campus. Definitely check Ratemyproffesors.com before registering, but be warned...some of the reviews ARE misleading. I'd say about 90% of the time, the reviews are pretty accurate. This campus is easy to get to, not too much traffic. But the campus does get crowded at certain times, usually around the 11am/12pm classes start is when you won't be able to find parking. So, I suggest getting there early, at least 30-40 min early. I used to do this, & never had a problem finding parking...any later, & it's a nightmare. Even if you don't have a map of the campus (although it would make life a lot easier), it is still pretty easy to find buildings/classes. The campus is not too widely spread out, so great for first timers. The only con I will say about this campus is the lack of knowledge that the counseling department has. The admissions dept has always been decent, but the "advisors" in the counseling dept upstairs DO NOT know what they are talking about half of the time. I've corrected multiple different "advisors" many times throughout my time there. My advice is to do your homework before going in & talking to an advisor, & always always always get a second opinion, because a lot of the time the same question you had will receive multiple different answers depending on who you talk to...& you will go crazy trying to figure out which answer to believe. Pretty much everyone I've talked to at TCC has had similar issues with this dept. Just a warning. I will say, I've been to other colleges & this isn't just a TCC issue. I now live in FL, so I will definitely miss TCC Northeast Campus. Good luck! read more

As I registered for classes and being new to the state and college I called the financial aid office and a young girl picked up and said I'm not registered for any classes on my way to work. I make it a priority to take my lunch break to go to the registration office wait thirty minutes just to be seen. I get called up by a mid thirty age Hispanic guy I explained the young girl told me to have assistance to register with you. He says I'm registered one class dropped and I say I don't understand why she says I'm not he just gives me a rude blank stare he's a complete jerk that doesn't belong there I asked how to register class he just says just go register with another attitude for registration and a piece of information why are people so lazy I needed to register another class sat half hour my lunch is over. I have to run back to work my manager asked why I didn't get help I said the guy was rude up there for nothing no one has ever been rude when I was there only him I won't go to that lazy worker again!! read more

Literally the worst registration experience I've ever had. It's confusing and every step of the way there are registration eligibility and restriction forms that say one thing and then change to another, so if you fix one problem it leads to another! The Tech support is super nice though which is why this review is not a 1 star. The registrar office members, however, are usually rude and unhelpful!! I'm currently trying to register for summer classes (it's taken me 2 weeks now to finish the stupid registration forms and restrictions and I'm STILL NOT DONE). I just want to take 3 classes to finish credit hours and give the school my stupid money and it is too much stress for a college kid to handle. I've already lost 3 of my class choices thanks to the fall back of registration. UNT does a better way of explaining registration and I'd rather spend 5X as much money to take a class than to deal with this stupid registration!!! The campus is confusing as helll! Maps on campus are misleading and everything looks the same and isn't labeled well. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE to say the least. read more

Getting registered has been the hardest thing I've ever had to do for school, I know it was easier at TAMU. It's confusing, frustrating, and they don't help when you reach out. They love to boost numbers for the college and then they brag about boosting numbers on linkedin. They don't care about the students, they can about boosting their own funding. Go to hell tcc. Where do i start? I went to TCC almost directly from high school, and i took one class, it wasn't what i had hoped for, since most of the professors are adjunct which makes them very hard to contact. The next class i signed up for since the TSI accuplacer said that i needed it was a remedial algebra class. Now i must say at this point that this is where things turn bad. Since i have an educational disability i have a special assistance plan in place to aid me in my course, much to my vehement dissatisfaction it doesn't do a whole lot, and remedial classes don't feel like they should. they don't really teach the concepts, but moreover they just teach the concepts to you the way they want you to learn it. I am beginning to feel as if this college doesn't truly care about helping all of its students and only the ones that want to get a degree from. This institution is really mediocre, avoid this school. read more
