My three aquariums were crystal clear after they cleaned them AND they accepted them as donations when I wanted to downsize (Petco wouldn't)

I came here looking to be educated on purchasing a fish & tank & the staff member working did just that. He was nice and explained everything to me and also recommended other places that might have what I was looking for. I am truly a beginner in this space so his willingness to help was much appreciated. The inside seemed a bit cluttered but I didn't expect much. This is one of the best aquarium places in Chesterfield. They have such beautiful coral here! I'm new to fish aquariums but went along with my bf who has a 65 gallon tank with salt water fish. He has been searching for alot of things to fill his tank and found a couple things here no one else had. The guy at the counter was super knowledgeable and explained things to me so I understood everything. We went to 4 aquariums today and quickly realized not all fish aquarium stores are the same this place and one other place were very clean, with well kept tanks. The other two were poorly cared for. One thing that blew me away here besides the very friendly and knowledgeable staff was the clear water in all the tanks. I had to double take because it literally looked like the fish were swimming on air..that's how clean and clear this water was in the tank. I look forward to coming back again. read more

This place is fantastic! I went there to browse recently (because I'm buying fish in the near future) and they have a huge variety of fish. All the fish look perfectly happy, healthy, and comfortable; all the invertebrates (especially coral) look great too. I'd say their selection is 2/3 saltwater life, 1/3 freshwater life. I'm definitely going to buy fish from this place, especially because the (freshwater) prices are comparable to big chain pet stores. There's also a good selection of plants, and the staff was very accommodating. My only complaints: the storefront is kind of awkwardly divided into rooms, it's slightly shabby, and the selection of equipment/supplies was maybe lacking. It's very clear that the live inventory is what's important to them as a business. As a final note, they should definitely put up a bigger sign in front of the building and clearly mark the entrance. I don't think I would've stopped in if I didn't know about the place beforehand... But I would still recommend this place to anyone without hesitation! read more

Decided to check this place out tonight since I am such a fish junkie! They have a huge tank when you walk in with a pretty awesome shark. They had a relatively good price on live rock and most fish seemed fairly priced as well. I would recommend checking this place out if you are in the market for coral or new fish to add to your collection. Aside from saltwater fish, they do have some fresh water fish as well. The tank decor/ rocks are reasonable as well. Will definitely keep this place in mind for that in the future. read more

The selection of freshwater fish is pathetic. Very few livebearers. I wanted some swords, mollies, platies. There were a few, all looked near death. Then I found 3 beautiful, healthy looking black swordtails. I told David I wanted all 3, a male and two females. He wouldn't sell them to me! They were in the "large live plant" tank, and he refused to "upset the ecosystem of the tank". He directed me back to the tank with the 3 dying black swords. I pointed out to him that one was sitting on the bottom, fins clamped, wiggling. It is no more than 3 days from death. The other two were hovering just above the bottom in the same condition. I give them a week. He said they were "fine", to which I replied "if they are fine, sell me the 3 healthy ones, and put those in the plant tank". Again, he refused. There were other fish in the plant tank he was willing to sell, but not the 3 I wanted. The freshwater tanks were filthy. Most had dead fish laying on the bottom, floating, stuck in the plants. One tank had multiple dead fish that had been there for quite awhile. I could tell by the amount of white crap growing on them. Needless to say, I will not go back there. First, it's over 50 miles round trip for me. Second, the selection is very slim. Third, the tanks are nasty and the fish unhealthy. Fourth, David, the "Manager", refused to sell me the only 3 fish I really wanted. It seems to me, the only good thing about this dump is their website, which makes them look like aquarium gods. read more

Do not recommend!! My husband and I went in looking for a place to do all of our busy for our 92 gallon saltwater tank. We spoke to the "manager" I believe his name was Joe, he made us feel like we were a burden for asking questions, we had gone in to upgrade our filtration we had told him what we were looking for and he recommended a wet dry filter with the bio balls, we went with his recommendation trusting that he knew best. That day we ordered the filtration, we also got sand, rock etc.. Spending over $600.00, but still feeling as though we were a waist of his time. We called down the following Friday to be sure they had got the system in, the guy we spoke with on the phone had no idea what we were even talking about and said he'd have the "manager" give us a call back, when he didn't call us back we got off work and thought we'd just start heading that way, we are about 1hr. 45mins. From this store. When we got about an hour out I thought I would try them one more time, we got through to him this time only to be told they close at 7:00 not 8:00 which was on the website! We went down the next day and once again we were not treated as customers. In hopes of finding someone else we started looking for a different store, luckily we found Reef Escape we talked to the owner there who was very helpful and explained to us why the bio ball system was not going to work for us unless we spend more money to take out things that should be taken out naturally. This place will never again get our business. So thanks Joe for screwing us out of $250.00 bucks on a filtration system that does us no good. read more
