Next year I'd probably park elsewhere within walking distance to avoid the shuttle situation, as that was the only annoying part. Folks go alllll out for this event. I loved seeing all the costumes and holiday cheer in abundance. Everything was organized well for packet pickup and the park where it started was filled with cute little photo opps and even some free swag. The route itself was lovely with neighbors in the Walton Park community having gone all out with festive cheer. I loved meeting Santa and Mrs. Claus. All in all, it was a great time. I did break my right ankle stepping off the curb to get onto a shuttle though. The loading area was pretty dark and I didn't notice a sharp angle in the curb. Still dealing with that. But otherwise, I had a great time.

The dealership discovered the car was missing the front right passenger axle boot, and had a jerry-rigged hose clamp in its place. I placed around 10 phone calls to the service center during business hours but they never answered. To reach the service department I had to contact the sales side and ask to be transferred. This was my experience every time I called-- I never reached the service center directly. Eventually, after getting in contact with a Service Representative, I was told that service could not be completed or scheduled within the 10 day return period. As a result, I returned the car because: 1) the Service Center failed to detect the missing axle boot upon its 125 point initial inspection 2) the Service center never answered the phone directly and 3) the Service Center lacked the availability to solve the problem inside the return window of time (10 days) Additionally, Carmax opted not to reimburse me the independent inspection amount. The company policy is that you must use their unresponsive and unavailable service center for all issues. I refused to trust a service department that had already failed me in multiple capacities: technical (failed to detect issue), communication (never answered my calls), and availability (could do nothing during the initial 10 days). Additionally, after returning the car I was told it would take around 2-3 weeks to get my cash back from the purchase! I found this to be unreasonably long, but this is the CarMax process. I recommend you purchase cars elsewhere, and avoid the hassle.

The ground school was VERY detailed, and the instructor was obviously knowledgeable without being dry and boring. Also, after the class, I was convinced to do the 3-lap with a pro add on to learn the track. That in and of itself was amazing. Tim, the pro driver, did a lap and a half, demonstrated how I should run the track, showing throttle use, and pointing out the lines I should be taking. Then, Tim did a lap and a half his way, as a race driver. I was totally blown away. Next, I was put into the #18 car, and belted in. With all the safety gear, I was grateful to have the spotter on the radio telling me what was going on. I was able to drive to the extent of my comfort level (which was NOWHERE near the pro driver), and still had an amazing time. Finally, I convinced my wife to do a 5 lap ride along. This time, Tim didn't hold back. He pulled a 5 laps and was clocking some great times. She had a mile wide grin after the ride. Definitely worth every cent. The team is 100% professional and safety oriented. Also, all safety gear is provided. Suit, helmet, and HANS device. I look forward to trying this again in the future, maybe at a longer track. Also- GET THE INSURANCE. It's not much more expensive, and I'd rather spend that and MAYBE $1000 if something happens, rather than $15K without.

I booked this experience for my fiance' as a birthday gift since he has an interest in NASCAR and boy he literally could not stop talking about it! Seriously, it was a week later and he was still RAVING about his racing experience. *does a little dance... Go me, Go me, Go me* I had been eyeing this experience for some time now for him, but lucked up and decided to finally book while they were having a BOMB A$$ 70% off sale (if they weren't having the sale, I highly doubt I would've booked as the normal prices are hella steeeeeppppp). Before I booked, I did do some research and found out that the team does offer additional laps that can be purchased at the track, as well as the insurance, Go-Pro filming option, photo plaque, and ride-with-an-instructor option all at the track. If you're hesitant on adding an option (or two, or three), I'd highly recommend waiting 'til you get to the track so you can speak with an employee (or even call them) just to make sure that option fits your needs, as I mentioned the prices are not cheap. With that, I went ahead and booked online the 8-lap experience for him for $149 ($156 after booking service fees) #WINNING. FYI - The regular rate for an 8-lap experience is $499! You do the math... The day of the experience, we did arrive late (dang traffic), but they graciously moved us to the next time slot. Also, while checking-in, I did go ahead and purchase the insurance for $60 (if you don't purchase, you will be liable for ANY and ALL damages prior to leaving the track which could run up to $10K-$15K, but with the insurance you only pay the $1,000 deductible which is also due prior to leaving the track), an additional 5-laps for $99, and the ride-along experience for $69. I would highly recommend getting all three of the items because: a) who has $10K to drop at a race track for a damaged NASCAR (I mean, who has $1K to drop for a damaged NASCAR, but $1K is better than $10K); b) the additional laps are great because whomever is driving is not gonna want to get out the of the car with the initial laps purchased; and c) the ride-along is with an experienced driver who shows you first-hand where you need to brake/accelerate around the track. Prior to even getting anywhere near the track, we did sit through about a 30-45min safety and track orientation for everyone (bystanders and drivers) which was super helpful (shoot, I wasn't even driving and I learned a few things about the car and track). You could really tell that the gentleman giving the instruction loved what did everyday as he was patient, had a little humor, and most importantly expressed the importance of being safe on the track. After orientation, the drivers put on their suits and helmets and we made our way to the track. There were two lines - one for drivers who purchased the ride-along and another line for riders who didn't and were ready to drive. My fiance' let me know that the ride-along was super fun because duh you are riding along with an experienced driver who is pushing the car way faster than you'll ever push it on your own (lol). Then it was game time! It was finally my fiance's turn and off he went. Honestly, the 13 laps went by so fast and I was just on the side. I'm so happy I purchased the additional laps! When he got out of the car, the expression on his face was priceless! On the sideline, you are able to film and take photos, so I was glad I did not have to purchase the Go-Pro package (although we did bring our own Go-Pro, but they would not allow him to place it in the car for safety reasons). If you're wondering, the Go-Pro package provided by Rusty Wallace is mounted to the TOP of your car and films it from the outside as you drive - no inside camera action as in real NASCAR. Overall, we were thoroughly delighted with the experience and would most definitely do it again! Thank you Rusty Wallace Racing Experience and Team!!

There is also a large parking lot, which can definitely accommodate larger groups. The loop is great for both short walks and longer runs, it's just the right length to avoid feeling too repetitive, even after several laps. While most of the path is exposed to the sun, there are a few shaded areas and some beautiful views of horses and surrounding greenery. Definitely bring sunscreen if you're out during warmer months! This is a great option if you're looking to get some steps in or just wanting to enjoy some sporty activities. This is perfect if you're wanting to get in a walk or run but not necessarily looking for a nature/unpaved trail.

I took my 2 year old son on a trailer for an 8 mile ride and he loved it. The downtown section can get busy but it is very pretty as it runs parallel to the river. The further away from Richmond you get, the river views fade away. Today we started from 4 mile creek trailhead (just after 295 from Richmond) and it offered a relatively flat ride going east for the first few miles. We are looking forward to exploring more of this trail.

There are also themed weeks (anything but clothes, pirates and schoolgirls), slip n slide weeks, and fun gentleman's rules to make it more interesting. VCU became the first team to advance from the First Four to the Final Four. The same feat was accomplished exactly 10 years later - this year (2021) - by UCLA. In both cases, VCU and UCLA were seeded 11th. In 2011, the Rams beat major programs, every step of the way, before succumbing to mid-major (8-seed) Butler in the Final Four. VCU defeated (11) USC, (6) Georgetown, (3) Purdue, (10) Florida State, and (1) Kansas. Butler eventually lost in the national championship game, for the second year in a row, to UConn. The 2011 run made then-VCU head coach Shaka Smart famous. He was only 33 years old at the time. VCU was Smart's first gig as a college head coach. His success in Richmond earned him his next job at Texas. He led the Longhorns to three NCAA tournament appearances in six seasons plus an NIT championship in 2019. Smart was hired as Marquette's new head coach beginning with the 2021-22 season. In his six seasons at VCU, Smart had the Rams in the NCAA tournament every year except for his first (2009-10). In 2010, the Rams won the CBI (College Basketball Invitational) tournament. VCU hasn't put many well-known players into the NBA. The program's most famous alum is three-time NBA champion Gerald Henderson. Henderson played for the Rams from 1974 to 1978. He's the father of former Duke Blue Devil and NBA player Gerald Henderson Jr. Eric Maynor, Larry Sanders, and Troy Daniels are other Rams that have spent significant amounts of time in the Association. The Rams have regularly appeared in the NCAA tournament since 2004 (12 appearances). Nevertheless it was a great day at the game the VCU women Rams dominated the first half of the game and it was certainly a treat to see. Concessions were available and paid for by the student admissions team, they offered a snack and a drink for each person who we brought along with us to the game. We also were able to pick our seats as it was general admission. There were free shirts laid about each chair for people to take with them when they left. Good Stadium, good seats, good game and a great band. Hopefully we will be back.
