First, I love Marriott Brand. But, this once grand hotel, needs to get back to what it used to be, Grand. At, 200.00 a night and as a member of Marriott Bonvoy, I expect better! Not just, basic. Our drain was slow draining upon arrival, I reported 3x. Guy came and pulled out a black gunk. But, it still drained slow. Nobody returned. 1 star. I expect excellent service. The iron board would not go down, it was broken. We reported, it took them 4 days and we were only there 5 days, to pick up the broken iron board. Too long. Another, star. I am present for the annual ADED conference and your conference accommodations are immaculate. The conference rooms were great. The serving staff at conference, along with your front desk staff were great. I enjoyed my conference, but I wanted the upper echelon accommodations that I accustomed to, back at this hotel. This Marriott is located right in downtown Richmond, has an attached parking garage, a Starbucks within and a hotel restaurant. Check-in is swift, though on both of my visits, I never seem to get the room I reserved. On two different occasions, I reserved a room with a king, yet end up with 2 double beds. They did the same thing to my colleague this time as well. My room was clean when I arrived, was serviced on my first day, but by 4:30 on my second day, they still hadn't cleaned my room yet. At that point, forget it. I didn't have any issues within the room itself, but my colleague indicated some definitions items in his room. Overall, it served the purpose and I loved that I had complete control of the AC. No temperature throttling! read more

I'm a lifetime status member, meaning I've stayed in A LOT of Marriotts all across the world and I have to tell you....this hotel has the worst beds and pillows I've ever experienced. I the bed is like sleeping on a rock, I've actually slept on better cots while deployed than these beds. The pillows, no joke, the worst pillows I've ever used. I am going to need a massage and a chiropractor after one nights sleep here. Everything else about the hotel is pretty nice, the M lounge is very nice, location is good, and the staff is very friendly....but because of beds and pillows I couldn't recommend anyone to stay in this Marriott. read more

This is a review for the hotel's M Lounge. I lived my visit with my friend. We went there before a show at The National and I really liked this bar. It's clean yet has a cool vibe, they have several high hop tabes and a regular bar seating area. The staff are very welcoming and attentive. The drinks we got were awesome. Was in town and stopped by this Marriott for lunch. Their surrounding especially the back facing that parking garage is depressing. Nothing absolutely nothing and not well kept. Staff in the lobby were not welcoming. They were disinterested in helping guests. Lobby was spacious and clean but busy (it's to be expected). Their restaurant didn't open the patio but had outdoor heater on. Waiter was clearly lazy. It was a sunny day! Starbucks had terrible service. I've been to this property many many times over the past 20 years to either stay or some to conferences in their huge parlor spaces. The visits are always nice. The area (this area of East Broad) used to be crime-ridden and rundown, but it's been cleaned up nicely and on this recent stay of a couple of nights, I explored the nearby Grace St bars and restaurants, which was nice. Checking in here was great, very friendly and they hit all the marks. The room was clean and well-functioning. Bed and sleep was comfy and the bathroom/shower worked as it should. Valet was busy and took too long on my first morning when I needed my vehicle, they said it was because there was only 2 of them working. But the staff was friendly. The M Club was stocked and offered a nice, full breakfast. Overall, I'll come back and stay here again. I visit this area often for work and this property is easily one of the better ones I've stayed at in the Richmond area. read more

Disappointing stay at the Marriott. We stayed over Easter weekend for several nights. However encountered issues. First, they do not clean the rooms, unless requested. Since when did they bring this back again? I have stayed in other Marriotts and this rule is no longer being practiced. Additionally when I contacted them on the first day to notify them about the housekeeping, I asked them to bring fresh towels to the room. However I waited over 45 mins for them! After calling and messaging, finally we received our fresh towels. Pretty disappointing service. The room was nice, it was located on the 17th floor. We also went to the gym, had nice equipment. No peloton but the matrix bikes did it for me. read more

Back in Richmond for another meeting held at the Marriott. The hotel rooms continue to meet my expectations in terms of comfort and cleanliness. Upon check-in, the toilet in my room was non-operative. I called down and maintenance came up and fixed it with 30 minutes. For the meetings, our group used both the main ballroom as well as the meeting rooms on the ground floor and downstairs. The temperature in the ballroom was comfortable while the temperature in the rooms downstairs was quite cold. Unfortunately, we were quite disappointed in the available WiFi bandwidth in the conference facility. There was significant lag on MS Teams, email, and website access. I would expect much stronger bandwidth in a hotel that has this level of conference facilities. Hotel staff are very friendly and customer-centric, especially in the M Club lounge. read more

I attended a financial summit at the hotel. Upon arriving I was greeted with someone opening my car door with good morning and have a nice day. Wonderful attitude and smile. Upon entering the hotel there was signage and direction with members from the Virginia credit union team to greet and direct. The lobby was buzzing with excitement with different organizational events. The lunch was tasty and served with a smile . Wait staff was extremely friendly, fast and attentive. Awesome hotel, service, and experience. Stayed here for 2 days/1 night while attending a conference and I can not speak highly enough of . I am a Hilton Honors Diamond member and can honestly say staying here made me rethink my brand loyalty based on overall service and guest care. I have a Marriott Bonvoy account (regular member) so it gives you free internet. I had a good event rate and parked in the garage and total parking was $20. I was able to get an early check and they asked if It was my first time staying with them and when I said yes, I got a full rundown and was escorted to the elevator. I had Room 718 and it was super clean and spacious. It was a double but worked out just fine. Also good water pressure, full size ironing board, and great smelling soaps, shampoo, and conditioner. After departing just to add another special touch, I received a Lars Friedriszik, General Manager, thanking me for my stay. Beautiful hotel with nice, clean rooms and several amenities. The are a couple downfalls which is there is no pool available and you have to park in a paid parking lot for daily rates or valet parking for $45/day which is pretty steep. The hotel staff were very friendly and welcoming. The M lounge was well stocked and the food was pretty good. The unloading and loading area is small so if it is busy there can be difficulty getting in and out to park. Overall, I'd stay again. read more

We stayed one night on club level. We were staying for a card convention (Collect-a-thon) across the street. After the convention the first night, the vendors and guests went to their rooms if staying at the Marriott. Later that night, the entire lobby was packed with vendors and buyers. We could not get through. We mentioned to the front desk this is a hazard And they were selling things in this lobby. This is illegal and not sponsored by Marriott. The front desk said they wouldn't do anything. We tried getting to the club and even in there people were yelling and selling things in there too. Stacks of hundreds. Money was rolling. There was no one manning the door so anyone could just walk in to the club. ("Dinner" was mozzarella sticks (no dip) and tiny curry samoas, some fruit and veggies. There was no actual meat/protein. Club was NOT worth it here.) We try going back to our room and people are setting up in the walkway directly in front of the elevators, rudely told us to go around them. This is past 10pm at this point. Then, a Marriott employee pushing a food cart tried to maneuver through the crowd and hit my husband's ankle which cut him and he started to bleed. It is a deep wound. Still, the front desk said they can't do anything about the crowd. We get bandaid and alcohol and basically a shrug. We go to our rooms. The next morning we talk to the front desk and say that security apparently had come at one point but couldn't control the crowd. "They are paying guests of the hotel too" and when I said they were selling thousands of dollars of goods, and that there is no way to know what was being sold or who was actually a guest, the day manager said she was unaware of items being sold and it shouldn't have happened. (I have completely separate issues with Collect-a-con, but this review and rating is specific to Marriott) The next morning, we went to the club for breakfast where Marriott was blaring Christian music. I know it's Sunday, but I just wanted to be in the club with quiet after the night we had. There is not reason to pay for club upgrade if we are sequestered to our room.. The food itself was fine. The room itself was also fine. But the complete disregard for safety and comfort of guests, the lack of crowd control, no dinner..... I am not happy. This was the most unrelaxing stay at Marriott ever. read more

A fairly standard Marriott hotel in the heart of Richmond. There is some public parking around not associated with the hotel, or you can do a valet (which is about $40). Check in was easy, but the lobby on a Thursday evening was jammed packed and hard to move around in. The room itself is fine, but having to climb over a couch to get to the shade pulls is awkward. It was clean and relatively quiet. Breakfast is not included but there is a Starbucks in the lobby. read more

Boy this hotel was hopping when I came through. They were hosting a convention and there were people absolutely everywhere. Still, we were attended to immediately. The rooms were spacious and you are able to stream your services on the TV. One would think that would be standard in this day and age, and one would be wrong. My only real complaint is, the lack of plugs on the nightstands. One side had NONE. We are living in a material world, and that world comes with CORDS. I had to sleep on the wrong side of the bed. In the grand scheme of things, not a big deal, but I was in the room alone. Had that been different someone would be put out. read more

Room had a small fridge, a spacious desk and lots of USB ports for charging devices. Note if you are driving, the hotel doesn't seem to have an affiliated parking lot so instructions were vague. Staff hesitated to recommend anything other than valet. So plan accordingly! read more

This Marriott Bonvoy is really special. I've stayed at other Marriott Bonvoy sthat were absolutely great but this one is number one in my book. From the front desk Mathew especially , staff, to the dining room staff especially Seme, they are all so nice and so accommodating! So incredibly nice and helpful to my elderly parents. Plus, the suites are beautifully designed and so clean. The beds and pillows are really comfortable and the water pressure in the showers is spot on too. It is very close to dining and shopping and the view out the windows is beautiful . I love this hotel so much. It actually gives me a reason to return to Richmond. read more

Very difficult experience. Checked in late in the evening after a business event for a business event the next day. Was originally assigned to a room that was occupied/in disarray (TV on loudly, bathroom "trashed" with towels and trash, beds unmade, etc.). Returned to front desk for reassignment, was (to the hotel's credit) granted an upgrade. Found sheets in second room that were blood stained. Couldn't grab my belongings fast enough and exit. Drove down the road to the Hilton Short Pump where I immediately received courtesy and a clean, comfortable room. read more

Trying to find a phone number for the hotel is impossible I wanted to add two extra nights on my reservation, but the number listed says it's a Verizon wireless phone number. That's no longer in service. The toll-free number is nothing more than an automated recording that is impossible to get through to anyone So I booked five nights at the Omni. Hubby and I stayed one night for the PFG food show. Check in was fairly simple. We received our key and went to our room. The heater was on high and it was exactly 77 degrees in the room. We chose to go back downstairs to request another room. We were able to get another room with no problem. Our room was cozy, clean, nicely lit/dim, and the beds were super comfy. I must add how much I loved the water pressure with the shower. I love when the water comes out hot and with high pressure! The location was perfect. Nice, short stay..... During a recent trip to Williamsburg - we opted to stay in downtown Richmond. It was about a 45 minute drive from Bush Gardens, but it seemed to be better than the hotels in the Williamsburg area (last minute booking). With proper planning - maybe we wouldn't have driven so far... Anywho - the hotel was nice - ballroom vibes! conference vibes! renovated vibes! It gave all the money well spent vibes for sure.... BUT....money can't buy class The parking situation was weird - Paid parking (its downtown, its expected)....but walking from the garage at midnight on a saturday night and its about a block away from the hotel can be creepy especially when the locals homeless are everywhere...even very near the hotel...scary! The hotel staff were a bit, well rude (the night staff - the morning staff seemed more professional). I felt like it was Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde with the staff. We got a good rest and headed out (as there were not many amenities - i.e. no breakfast or even grab n go, the swimming pool was closed). The only thing to do was relax and head out (which we did with no issues). There was a wedding going in the hotel so it was busy. read more

I attended the 2024 Richmond Music and Jazz festival this past weekend and stayed at the Richmond Marriott. This Marriott provides complimentary shuttle service to any business within two miles of the hotel. We were able to get the shuttle to one of my favorite restaurants and also to Maymont Park where the Music and Jazz festival was being held. The other perk was having access to a restaurant/bar located across from the hotel check-in. The hotel was clean with a modern decor. When in the area, I will definitely stay at this Marriott location. read more

I was in Richmond for a wedding. There was a block of rooms at both the Hilton, across the street, and the Marriott. Tbh, I'm a Hilton girl... got the rewards and it's my go to hotel chain. But the wedding block sold out at Hilton and the hotel decided they were Hilton Manhattan and wanted $500/night for a room. Um. Anyway. I guess this has nothing to do with Marriott, but I was glad to be able to get in for the $199 wedding block price. I ended up being happy we stayed here. We went across the street to the Hilton for some pre and post wedding festivities and I thought the Marriott was much nicer. For one, the hotel restaurant was A+. They also have a Starbucks, which I didn't use, but a nice addition in the lobby. Happy with our stay here. read more

Beautiful hotel. Very, VERY big. Lobby always packed. The front desk, in my opinion, had a weird, impersonal set up in that it was a smaller, individual sized desk (several of them) as opposed to a traditional longer check-in desk. I stayed here while in town for the bar exam, and was happy with how close it was to the convention center where the exam was being held. Parking was hard for my virginia-law saturated brain to comprehend lol but the valet guy who I asked directions for was HILARIOUS (that dude alone gets 5 stars lol I had this terribly confused look on my face and he said "you can do it, I know you can! Crazier people than you have found the parking garage!" Lol). The room I stayed in was nice - on the 3rd floor at the end of the hall. It was generally quiet but I was able to hear my neighbors the second night I was there. I loved the bathroom - very clean and modern. Glass, standing shower with this wild drain bar I've never seen anywhere. Unfortunately room service didn't come the first night for some reason. Maybe they don't when the hotel has 15 floors? Idk. I mean really it is a grand, beautiful hotel. It is BUSY. The walk from the garage to the elevators was longer than I would've liked and the parking spaces in the garage are REALLLLLLY SMALL. Standard business room. Bed comfortable, after asking for foam pillows. Seating with side table. Room can be kept cool and dark (always keep a chip clip in your luggage to make sure the curtains stay completely closed!) Drawer space is a little limited, but enough to get by for a short stay. Handy small fridge in room. Easy to connect chromecast to tv. Bathroom space is a little tight but enough to make due. Shower pressure is a bit puny, but the wand helps. Good M lounge for straightforward breakfast and grabbing waters for the room. Attractive lobby; a convenient small store, mostly for drinks and light snacks, nice looking bar which we didn't get to try this trip, Starbucks for coffee and breakfast/lunch sandwiches. No lunch options at the hotel, the restaurant is closed during the day, there's no room service except for dinner, and there's not a lot in the area. Fortunately the one day we were in need of midday eats, the Starbucks had not closed yet. Front drive is small and can get really packed with cars at peak times; we were happy to be Ubering instead of driving. It's not going to rock your world, but it's a decent downtown option for short stays. read more

Recently I stayed at this Marriott for a work trip. The lobby is very sophisticated and front desk staff were lovely. The building is older but you can't really tell until you see your room. The rooms are updated but they are small and narrow. The walls are a bit thin as I could hear the person in the next room cough quite clearly. The bed was okay but a little more firm for my preference. I'm obsessed with their toiletries, the bath gel was amazing, I think it's called "this works" brand. The room was clean and well stocked. While my small children were not with me in this trip, I wouldn't necessarily recommend this hotel for families with small children. The hotel aesthetic, the petit rooms and no pool might dissuade you if you have a little ones. The bartender who took my order for to-go dinner was noticeably not as courteous as the other hotel staff. The price wasn't terrible but not cheap, about $225 per night. Overall it was a good experience and perfect for a couple days. read more

November 2020 - COVID Review: Definitely a beautiful high-rise hotel and in a great location in Downtown Richmond! My husband and I came for a mini staycation away from Northern VA and we were able to easily walk to many of the nearby destinations. They had signs stating that their construction would be done in Spring 2020, but I assume due to COVID that things have been delayed. The in-house restaurant and Starbucks kiosk were closed for renovations, but this wasn't a huge inconvenience for us. They offered free coffee every morning in the lobby until noon while Starbucks was closed, which is a nice touch. The front desk isn't directly seen as you walk into the main entrance (you have to make a right after entering) but the lobby was clean and nice. Check-in and check-out were quick and easy. We were helped by Kim during check-in and she made us feel very welcomed! For a hotel with 18 floors, the elevators are super quick! We stayed on the 14th floor and it didn't take long at all to go up and down everyday. They conveniently had valet parking on-site for $29/day or you can self park in the attached public garage (it has a connected skywalk on the 3rd floor) for $20/24 hours. The public garage doesn't allow in and out privileges, but we didn't use our car during our stay and walked everywhere. I could tell that our room was renovated and it was really nice! A minor inconvenience was that there were limited / barely any towel racks in the bathroom. There's a hook next to the shower and a rack inside the shower wall, but it would've been nice to have one for the smaller hand towels on the walls next to the sink. We would stay here again the next time we visit Richmond! read more

Place was fantastic and gave me hope that the hotel business is moving in the correct direction post COVID. Of course, it could just be that Marriott is headed in the correct direction. The room was clean and ready upon arrival. We were there for a volleyball tournament and had 4 people in our room. Noticed they had towels for 3 which I can understand why. I got on the Marriott app and ordered another set of towels and within minutes they arrived. All of the staff were very kind and helpful during the stay and it was a very busy weekend for them. They did an amazing job having a separate area that all of the volleyball players could hang out that came with a snack bar and beer and wine for the adults. Could not have asked for more. read more

Rooms are nice and spacious. The bathroom doors are ridiculous though and provide for 0 actual privacy. They slide closed but have a huge gap and don't actually close the whole way. Although the hotel seemed to be appealing to the eyes, the exterior and interior were immaculate and the setting was welcoming. Sadly, that is where the fascination ended with me. I went in to use the women's restroom on the ground floor, the bathrooms were disgusting. No toilet paper in the stall, trash basket overflowing. What bothered me, was that there was an employee in the restroom. How could she not see the condition of the room? The unflushed toilets? If she did, and informed someone, I apologize.
