Parking was a breeze, purchasing tickets was easy, and we were able to shop in every single room of the Inn, which also essentially doubled as a tour. The rooms were all lovely and the Inn was the perfect backdrop for shopping. I even tried a sample of their holiday tea (and subsequently bought some). One of the owners was dolling out the samples and it was nice to chat with him. You could tell he and his wife put a lot of love into their Inn. I wouldn't hesitate to return for other events and will keep this spot in mind for future visitors looking for a B&B experience as well.

Both were very cozy, with lots of amenities, such as bathrobes, bottled water, and coffee pot/tea in the room. The breakfast in the morning is phenomenal. It is made to order, with eggs, bacon, various rolls, oatmeal, coffee, etc. and served in the house's dining room. The staff is absolutely lovely and so welcoming. Another added bonus is that they provide tickets for admission to the special exhibit at the VMFA, as well as passes to get a free drink in their cafeteria. Love, love, LOVE this place. Recent cutbacks include the cancellation of cable service. We used our Amazon Prime service to download the first episode of "An Idiot Abroad" (great show, btw). We booked the couples suite, which features a comfy queen size bed, lending library, and poang ikea chair (perfect for curling up with the theology book you just borrowed). Breakfast is a free-for-all. Do try your hand at the espresso machine. The proprietor would be happy to give you a lesson. Later, he sold it to a Doctor Friend who resided there when she would serve as a civil war hospital. Sold again, yet to another doctor, Dr. Thomas Cheatham, the house grew again to form a “T” shaped structure. After his death, the home would fall into severe disrepair only to be restored in the 1930s and named Wrexham. The Hague family lived there and maintained what became a “mansion” in the 1960s when it was added to once again. The new addition begged for an upgraded name, which is the now, Wrexham Hall. Sold to Judge Gates in the 1970s, he would sell it and have it moved to its current location. The last addition was made by the Brennan family, an event room that would serve many for years to come. Since the moment we booked she has been a great communicator and we feel like she is really listening to our needs. Not the "corporate" feel if you will. We also did our save the dates at the venue with their photographer! They turned out AMAZING! It was so fun and taking pictures with the horses really made them feel so much more magical. We are booked for May and I could not be more excited! Also just to add- they had so many options to help with vendors, which helped us pick our caterer! Unfortunately, our experience was the exact opposite. Upon arrival, we had to carry all of our belongings and wedding items down paths to the cabins ourselves. Although golf carts were available on the property, no assistance was offered. Prior to the wedding, we provided decorations and special charms that were to be attached to my daughter's bouquet in memory of grandparents who had passed away. We were assured that everything would be taken care of. On the morning of the wedding, we were asked when the bouquet was needed and stated 4:00 p.m. for pictures. By 4:15 p.m., we had received no communication. Multiple texts to the owner went unanswered. When I finally reached her by phone, she was not even on the property and said she would not be back for another 30 minutes. The wedding was scheduled to begin at 5:00 p.m. I ended up locating the bouquet myself. The memorial charms had not been attached, and no one knew where they were. At 5:00 p.m., the owner still had not arrived, and no staff member seemed to know what was happening or what needed to be done. Our family was left coordinating the wedding ourselves. The ceremony was delayed until 5:30 p.m., which affected photography since the photographer was only contracted for a limited amount of time. To make matters worse, when it was time for the couple's first dance, the owner told my daughter that she knew nothing about it, despite it being included in the contract and paid for as part of the package. We were then rushed through photos because dinner was scheduled for 7:00 p.m., even though many of the delays stemmed from the lack of coordination earlier in the day. The owner also interrupted the couple's send-off over a pen issue that could have been handled later. The problems continued throughout our stay. The air conditioning in our cabin failed on the final night, leaving us in uncomfortable temperatures above 80 degrees. When we politely shared our concerns before leaving, hoping for an explanation or apology, none was offered. Instead, responsibility was shifted back onto us. We were also owed a credit on our account. Initially, we were told it could not be refunded because the original card used for booking had been closed. After considerable discussion, a cash refund was finally offered. However, when my daughter picked it up, it was $21 short. We were told this was for breakfast-in-bed delivery for the newlyweds, despite previously being told that this was included in the wedding package. Perhaps most disappointing of all, when the newlyweds checked out, the owner would not speak with them. This was a weekend that should have been focused on celebrating my daughter's wedding. Instead, we spent much of it dealing with issues that we had specifically been assured would be handled by the venue. We left feeling disappointed, stressed, and unsupported.

I made reservations for me and my friend. It was a lovely drive ... At first... the gps directions are awful. I was taken down a road which was designated as peace hill - but we ended up at a red house, no one there, then we called and got even worse directions. The woman on the phone told us to go by the "red hen house" and through the woods... it was barely a road, full of tree roots, dirt path, and rocky terrain. After a 1/2 hour, we finally made it and end up at the back of the building. Come to find out, if she had just told us to go back to the main road and keep going 1/4-1/2 or so, we'd see the other entrance to the main house. Not a great first impression. The grounds were lovely and the farm animals gave a pastoral vibe. Inside was pretty too, but we were led to a rather secluded back room full of wool and yarn. Not that it wasn't cozy, but quite different from the dozens upon dozens of tea rooms I've been to. The lady who was "minding the store" didn't seem like she knew what she was doing. It took ages to get our teas and the tea (earl grey) tasted bland and stale, the soup was a putrid green (inedible) and while we were waiting we heard her chatting on the phone. Anyway, she wasn't the owner, so maybe she was new or just helping out?? The tea tier arrived and it looked nice... the sandwiches were good, basic cucumber, egg salad, and a pesto, with a mini ham biscuit... the scones were not good - sorry - but they were served with loads of cream and jam yet they should be served plain and the "condiments" on the side. My friend who can't have the toppings and preferred a plain scone, asked for a plain one. The lady said it would take 20 minutes . Which it did, and longer. All and all, it wasn't a very relaxing experience. I took some nice pictures, and we enjoyed the surroundings, but the afternoon tea service itself was mediocre. Sadly, we were disappointed, and I really wanted to love this place since I had heard good things... I'm sure the bed and breakfast side of the experience is probably much better. The sheep, the goats, the wool, the crafts, the pasture raised products, the farm life... that is your best bet from the other reviews I've read, but maybe you'll have a better tea time than we had. We might have to give this place another try and see if it improves.

We enjoyed the drink however, we had to ask for details about the drink and wish the host would have described it for us. The soup was a tomato soup which was ok but definitely didn't taste like tomato. In general we were disappointed in the food. The tea selection wasn't my favorite. I would have preferred a milder blend to go with the food rather than the choice of two strong flavors.
