The parking lot is medium size and during swim meets the church across the street was kind and allowed overflow parking, so the walk was not too far. During my younger years, the blocks were a bit like a very thick and durable plastic table and the backstroke hand rungs were sharp (not piercing) on my fingers. The top of the blocks could get slick and were on the flatter side. Some of the Klahaya swimmers expressed glee about how their pool had the "cleanest" blocks because they were flat. There was some debate on whether using slightly tilted and rough-surfaced blocks constituted cheating in a race. It was commonly agreed upon wedge technology for starting blocks counted as cheating. I was thankful for the flatter blocks because it helped me realize how much a rough surface on a block and a slight tilt could change the depth of a dive off a block and overall dive form. The pool was well designed for waiting for races both on the benches and behind the blocks, watching the swimmers from the bleachers or the side/end of the lanes, and a large grassy area next to the tennis courts provided space to spread out a blanket and/or chairs. Concessions were easy to find, though the line could flow into the walking path if long. Locker rooms were easy to access from the pool deck.

Membership is limited and the wait list to join takes a bit but those in the know, enjoy this little private community club. Starch-boy, our son, has enjoyed attending several birthday parties here. The staff is well versed in safety instruction and they have requirements of the swimmers to allow them into the deep ends of the pool. The facility is always clean, plenty of parking and the staff are always helpful. Only knock against it is the pool is only open seasonally.

Sweet little museum right in the heart of Bothell. We stumbled upon this little place while we…read morewere at the park. We saw a number of folks coming in and out of the of this old cabin and Schoolhouse and decided to check it out. It was a fun surprise for our 2 yr old and 3.5 yr old so see all the old tools and how folks lived as the area was being settled. The old Beckstrom cabin is quaint. You can't go inside - only look from the front door - but it's a very small place with many period piece antiques and tools used in the 1800's. We then ducked into the Hannan House. The docent was very friendly and was a wealth of knowledge. It was kitted out in some great antiques and décor items. Loved the children's room upstairs with all the toys. Had to keep a hand on our daughter as she wanted to cross over the ropes and play with the toys, which were pretty cool. Our favorite was the old Schoolhouse. The docents was very sweet and friendly. Our little guys enjoyed the table with the type writer, mechanical coin bank, and cash register. The docent knew a great deal about the structure and the owners of the schoolhouse. All of the buildings were relocated to the area from other locations in the Bothell area. So nice they the effort is being made to preserve the history and pass it onto the next generation. While our kiddos are very young, they did enjoy exploring and seeing all the items on display in every building. Great little detour. The buildings are all very close together. They are not wheelchair / stroller friendly as many older buildings of the late 1800's / turn of the century were not. Takes about 20-30 minutes to see all the properties.

I've been a member of this club for a year and have gotten a lot out of it. The people are not…read moreonly friendly and welcoming to new members, but they are super helpful and supportive with the Toastmaster program. The members have a wide range of experience and skill levels. You can work at your own pace - take it slow and observe for a while before jumping in or you can dive in right away with speaking activities. I joined Toastmasters to help get over nerves with public speaking, and to practice speaking in front of groups in both a professional setting and non-work setting (e.g. officiating a wedding). I have gotten much more out of the club than just getting over nerves. I feel more relaxed with presenting, but I also feel more confident putting together presentations and giving feedback to others. If you are thinking of joining a club - you can come as a guest a few times to figure out if this is a good fit for you.

I was looking for a club that had a genuine warmth, a big heart and a robust and diverse membership in terms of age, race and life goals. My search ended with Seattle Sunrise. Since then the club lost its home at NW Hospital and relocated to Merrill Gardens near UW. Now with the pandemic, the club meets on Zoom. It continues welcoming new members and continues it long history of earning a distinguished club status through Toastmasters International. New members say they like the website. See what you think.

So.... My hubby loves history and especially military history. He also loves to read every single…read moreplacard, display, plaque and so on. I was through the entire museum in an hour- I read things that interest me and admire the sheer size and engineering for various planes and tanks. I was fascinated to learn about the "Night Witches"- a Russian squad of female pilots who made nighttime bomb runs. First country to allow women to fly bomb runs. And how they did it- flying low, cutting the engines to glide silently over targets and the only warning was the whistling of the bombs dropping through the air. They also had a ball turret solo on display and I want so badly to sit in one to experience just how tight that was for those few men small enough to even work that under the belly of B-17 or B-24. The tank cut in half was also very impressive. John took almost 2.5 hours and stayed till closing. Bonus- great gift shop, we snagged some Christmas gifts for some of out aviation loving family members!

The instructors are so wonderful, helpful, fun and make even the least creative people (me) feel like your art is beautiful. Over the years they have added more classes besides painting and so happy they did. Our instructors for our team outing Brittany and Coco were fabulous! Cheerful and inspiring!
