I attended The Elks as a guest of a member. We had dinner and it was good. She got the chicken burger with avocado and a side salad and said her burger was tasty. I got the fish and chips which auto comes with 3 pieces of cod - only got 2 but they were big. When we looked at the check, we were charged for 3 pieces but the bartender had left off my Coke so we said it was a wash. My friend's two drinks were stiff and strong. You order your drinks and food at the bar, no table service, but they do deliver the food to your table. You bus your table afterwards. The bar has a nice ambiance. I hear that the view of the sound is amazing but since it's winter and dark at 4 o'clock, there was nothing to see out there so I'll check that out next time. They have pool, shuffleboard, a few TV's with sports playing, an area with couches and a coffee table. The stage and dining area is rentable, and they had a poster advertising a battle of the bands in January that I want to come back and see. It looks like a good place for a small concert, anniversary party or charity event. Huge parking lot.

There's an elevator for quick access to the second floor, there are clean bathrooms, and the views of Shilshole Bay simply can't be beat.

We have used the RC for two client appreciation/business development events and not only do we love it, our clients do too! The food is always great (a highlight is the appetizer bacon wrapped dates), the drinks are tasty and the bartenders are pleasant, and as an organizer I think the spaces are beautiful and perfectly decorated. My photos below are of the space for our most recent event in the Cutter Room. Thank you endlessly to all the staff that is always welcoming, professional, and helpful.

It's members only, but isn't snooty or pretentious. They hire kind and professional uniformed staffers who go beyond the call of duty. Sit over tasty potstickers and French champagne perhaps at the grand upstairs bar late afternoon looking out at the grey rain - but avoid the (dprk airline tasting) beef and broccoli bowl and the $2 well burnt nuts. The food prices are kept wonderfully low. Clubs do want members to actually hangout. The club is an absolute haven and perfect for business lunches, cocktail hours, and weddings (a fireplace so big even NBA players could walk in), and to just get lost in thought in spacious quiet elegance in a place great-great-grandfathers lit cigars.

The staff, excluding the bartenders who receive gratuities, volunteer their time. +1 - Charity. There are numerous opportunities to support the community through fund drives. The +1 - Hours. Because volunteers staff this location, like most locations, the hours are perfect for those seeking an after-work cocktail or beer. Background. Depending on the bartender, your first or next visit might be a mixed bag of customer service expectations. Specifically. If the bar is pretty much empty, and the bartender sees this, they might take a smoke break or use the bathroom. This doesn't apply to everyone, but remember it if you're ever alone. Again, unpaid staff support this establishment. Regarding the food options, you are allowed to bring in your own food, provided it's not during a theme night. Examples included Baked Potato Night, Initiation Night, Taco Tuesday, a hosted Seahawks watch party, or any random theme night that features a menu item. Drink values are pretty equitable, as they are based on having a volunteer staff. They aren't dirt cheap, but you won't be paying for a pint or shot like you should if you were downtown or in one of the more populated neighborhoods (see Capitol Hill, Ballard, Greenwood, etc.). Entertainment. Depending on the evening, you might be invited to participate in Trivia Night, watch the latest movie, play some poker, or support the club via Bingo night. Overall, your expectations should be more like visiting family and less like visiting a 4 or 5 star restaurant. Finally, whenever possible, be sure to tip the kitchen staff directly, as they don't receive any cash compensation. If you are a non-member, you're encouraged to be a guest of a member and consider registering for an annual membership. As always, your individual experience will vary.

Your first visit to the club is free. Monthly memberships are $25.00 for unlimited play any time the club is open. Those who attend less frequently can pay just $5.00 for an evening, or $10.00 for all day Saturday. You are welcome to bring your own games for play at our club as well, many of our members do. Frequently people who are designing games come to our club for play testing, and many members of MSG enjoy playing new games. Metro Seattle Gamers welcomes new players, as well as experienced gamers. Check our website for scheduled events, or call (206) 781-0047. Metro Seattle Gamers is open most evenings from 7 PM until 11 PM, and most weekends from Noon until Midnight. Popular 'Euro Games' such as Power Grid, Endeavor, Saint Petersburg, Settlers of Catan, or Stone Age are played on Monday and Tuesday evening, as well as on the weekends. Wednesday evenings has a regular role playing group, and historical wargames such as World in Flames (the current game as of September). Thursdays currently has a few people playing a historical war game simulating a battle during World War One (as we approach the 100 years since that epic conflict. Fridays has a regular group of historical war gamers who play some easy, to moderately complex games from various eras ranging from Ancient Rome to the Russian Front of WW II; there is also another roleplaying group using the FATE system for a game based on the Dresden Files (Mystery, Adventure and Magic based upon the books by Jim Butcher). Saturdays has a wide variety of games, and many tables in use for historical war games, rail games (often from the 18xx series), minitures (DBA every 2nd Saturday of the month), Advanced Squad Leader, Napoleonic Wars, Puerto Rico, Kingsburg, and other quick playing games are often on adjoining tables. Sometimes on Sunday Axis and Allies, or other games are played. Very quick playing games such as Race for the Galaxy, Scarab Lords, or Munchkin are as popular as long playing campaigns (we have shelves for the storage of games that take multiple sessions to complete). We also have multiple white boards in several rooms, Geo-Hex and other terrain for minitures games, and many other accessories to make your gaming more enjoyable. Recently more than a dozen members of the club volunteered time to repaint, and refurbish the club. Come by and check us out! Located between Ballard and Downtown Seattle in the Interbay neighborhood, right across from the National Guard Armory, and just down the street from Whole Foods (the clearest landmark at the traffic light where you turn onto Armory Way). In the same parking lot as the Whole Foods there is a Subway, Magic Dragon, and a Pete's Coffee & Tea. At the club we sell a variety of cans of soda pop, Talking Rain sparkling water, etc. (proceeds go to the club); we often brew a pot of coffee, and have tea available as well. In good weather it is not uncommon for us to fire up our BBQ grill. Metro Seattle Gamers is a Not For Profit Social Club, proceeds go to maintaining our club, and for purchasing new games as voted on by the members.

I have been a member for several years. Attendees at the club often play hard-core war games, because the club is particularly convenient for elaborate games that can't be concluded in one session (there is a storage system for games in progress at the club). So we tend to attract people to the club who don't really want to keep a lengthy game sitting on a table at home for weeks on end. At the club, this is not a problem. But we also play "light" war games such as Axis & Allies Global 1940, and card-driven war games such as The Napoleonic Wars. Depending on what people want to play, we often play "euro" favorites such as Cities & Knights of Catan, Puerto Rico, Endeavor, St. Petersburg, Kingsburg, Dominion, Power Grid, and a host of others. Fair warning--the level of competition at the club is very high!
