Hands down the BEST bed & breakfast we've ever stayed at. My boyfriend and I made a quick 24 hr…read moretrip to see our Alma Mater and we were lucky enough to score a room same day with Holly and Daniel. We were greeted by the whole family (they have a young daughter) in the foyer upon arrival and were walked through how to use the electronic lock pad and all of the rooms available to us on the first floor - two seating areas, the dining room, and an antique souvenir/Buffalo maps room. There's a piano, many fireplaces, and a chess board, as well as a small fridge/freezer for anyone to use. Daniel let us know there were breakfast seating times from 6:30-8am so we let them know we wanted to sit for the 8am. Holly showed us to our room and brought a pitcher of water and glasses for us. The rooms were beautiful and perfectly sized. We had the Sparrow room, which may be the smallest but we had plenty of space. The furniture has so much character and Daniel explained that everything's been reupholstered so every piece was still in perfect shape. Our room had a fireplace, armoire, tv, and dresser with a beautifully redone bathroom connected. The bathrobes were incredible and the plumbing was much better than expected with an old house - did not wait long for hot water and the toilet worked extremely well. We explored downtown for dinner time and came back with a bottle of wine to play some chess before bed. Daniel graciously provided a corkscrew and wine glasses and told us about the history of the house before we went up to sleep. The bed was very comfortable and there was an air conditioning unit in the window that we could control. The next morning we went to the dining room for breakfast and it was DELICIOUS! More than I ever expected - a peach pastry with what tasted like homemade whip, a yogurt parfait with home grown and made fig jam, a cold pressed celery/pear/apple/ginger juice, and finally our choice of sweet (banana fosters French toast with bacon) or savory (herb cream cheese, lox, onion, and capers on everything bagel crisps with a poached egg) so we did one of each :) 4 courses with coffee and water while admiring the beautiful fig tree right outside the window... incredible. Holly and Daniel are doing an AMAZING job here and I cannot recommend this place enough. 17/10!!!!

Love the truffle fries and the giant pretzel, especially with the loganberry cream cheese. Our pickier son really liked the chicken fingers when I brought him. Usually he barely touches his food, but finished most of his dinner and even the leftovers, which almost never happens. Still need to try dessert. Drinks are great. They just added a specialty French 75 that's great. There's a spacious bar area with seating and a separate dining area if you want something brighter and quieter. Great service.

The service was friendly and attentive. Unfortunately, due to the kitchen not being able to keep up, they had to stop taking orders for about 30 minutes; so, it was a bit of a wait to order our food and then receive it. We ordered some apps and main dishes including colossal mozzarella sticks (that naming is an embellishment as they were only slightly larger than standard), buffalo pockets, Pittsburgh salad, broiled haddock and opened fade steak to name a few. The apps were good, but nothing special. The waitress was helpful in making sure my mother was able to the have a gf meal; she had the Pittsburgh salad with honey and mustard brought to use as a dressing. My mom enjoyed it. I had the baked haddock with sweet potato fries. It was cooked nicely and the fries were good; crisp outside, soft inside. Three people ordered the open face steak and they all liked it, though not all the steaks were found to be cooked as ordered; they were overcooked from what was requested. I found the bathroom to need some more attention to detail with cleaning; the chair rail, baseboard, handicapped bars and top of toilet tank were all very dusty.

The Inn is right in the heart of the village, with nice restaurants north and south on Elmwood. Intermixed are interesting shops and boutiques, cafes, and even a cool grocery store. A mile south is Allen Street and all its wares; a mile north is Buffalo State and the art museum. Hop on a one of those rent-by-the-hour bikes, and Canalside and downtown is a quick pedal away. Even more, there is easy access to the freeway that gets you to Niagara Falls quickly (I suggest Whirlpool State Park for an alternative trip; the hike to the bottom of the gorge is gorgeous). The Inn itself is clean, interestingly decorated and comfortable. The room we stayed in was large ... and my wife took advantage of the large bathtub to soak away a late evening while enjoying a glass of wine. There are snacks, toiletries, water and other small touches that made the stay very enjoyable. What isn't mentioned on the Inn's website prominently is the breakfast: they are delicious. The owner has worked in the restaurant industry as a chef, and it shows. There is a wide selection of healthy options (such as fruit, granola, yogurt) along with hearty meals, pastries, cheese, sausage, etc. And, perhaps most importantly, the coffee was great. One last thing: take advantage of the porch. There is an outdoor sitting area off the communal living room that provides a great place for enjoying coffee and a newspaper in the morning, and a delicious nightcap (perhaps with some Buffalo-style pizza) in the late evening. The people watching from the porch is also great (Elmwood Avenue is pedestrian-heavy throughout the day and evening). Anyway ... if you enjoy culture, food, people-watching, access and beautiful neighborhoods, you'll love this place.

If you're looking for that authentic Buffalo charm without feeling like you've accidentally…read moretrespassed into your grandmother's historically preserved living room, this is the spot. From the second you walk in, the house radiates that classic, cozy "Old Buffalo" energy that makes you want to cancel your plans and just exist in a state of perpetual relaxation. To the left of the entrance is the dining room. It's less of a room and more of a 24/7 hospitality hug. There is a relentless flow of snacks: chips, pretzels, fruit, and candy. The drink selection is equally aggressive in the best way possible (Nespresso, BOTH Pepsi and Coke products, beers, and teas). I spent an embarrassing amount of time just surveying my options. The Room (The Grover Cleveland): The room is a great mix of "I'm in a historical landmark" and "Thank God there's a heated bathroom floor." It's well-preserved but doesn't lack the modern essentials. The Pros: Mini-fridge, wall-mounted TV with streaming, and a shower with a hand wand (excellent water pressure, too). They even left two pitchers of water for me, one chilled, one room temp. That is the kind of over-preparedness I appreciate. The large windows allow tons of natural light to enter. Wall mounted Aveda shampoo, conditioner, and body wash in the roomy shower. And yes, the bathroom has a wall-console controlled heated floor!! There are two luggage racks, writing desk and two comfy lounge chairs along with the king sized bed. One side has a nightstand with alarm clock abd the other side has a marble shelf on top of an old-style steam heater. There are plenty of plugs around the room and the door has bolt lock with old-style key. The Con: My only tiny gripe? The pillows. They were a bit on the "pancake" side of the spectrum, very thin and definitely not fluffy. If you like a firm loft, you might find them lacking. The Amenities The fireside library and parlor are perfect for pretending you're reliving the 18th-century lifestyle, and the covered front porch is elite-tier for people-watching. Parking is easy: you can pay for the off-street spot or just roll the dice with the free street parking (which was totally fine). The Food & The "Staff" The breakfast spread is legit. We're talking yogurt varieties, hard-boiled eggs, fresh fruit, homemade granola, and homemadr scones that I am still thinking about days later. Seriously, the scones alone are worth the booking. Also, special shout-out to the resident dog who clearly thinks he's the General Manager. He's the friendliest employee on the payroll. The location is walkable to a bunch of local shops and restaurants, so you're right in the heart of things. If you want a comfy stay that is affordable and feels historical but isn't "stuffy," this is your place!

The inn is located in ElmWood- the area is very walkable. Close by to many local shops and restaurants. The inn communal area is very pretty and is filled with histories. We were in awe how well maintained the inn was. The staffs were all very friendly. I really enjoyed talking to Polly. She was very accommodating. The stay comes with light breakfast included. The room is huge and is nicely furnished. Some improvement suggestions I would have is having more outlets or extension cords. The room actually faced the street and it was shockingly not too noisy, though I thought the inn was thoughtful when I saw they did provide a white noise machine. I highly recommend checking out this place if you're in Buffalo NY. Definitely worth the money.
