From the second you walk in, the house radiates that classic, cozy "Old Buffalo" energy that makes you want to cancel your plans and just exist in a state of perpetual relaxation. To the left of the entrance is the dining room. It's less of a room and more of a 24/7 hospitality hug. There is a relentless flow of snacks: chips, pretzels, fruit, and candy. The drink selection is equally aggressive in the best way possible (Nespresso, BOTH Pepsi and Coke products, beers, and teas). I spent an embarrassing amount of time just surveying my options. ​The Room (The Grover Cleveland): The room is a great mix of "I'm in a historical landmark" and "Thank God there's a heated bathroom floor." It's well-preserved but doesn't lack the modern essentials. ​The Pros: Mini-fridge, wall-mounted TV with streaming, and a shower with a hand wand (excellent water pressure, too). They even left two pitchers of water for me, one chilled, one room temp. That is the kind of over-preparedness I appreciate. The large windows allow tons of natural light to enter. Wall mounted Aveda shampoo, conditioner, and body wash in the roomy shower. And yes, the bathroom has a wall-console controlled heated floor!! There are two luggage racks, writing desk and two comfy lounge chairs along with the king sized bed. One side has a nightstand with alarm clock abd the other side has a marble shelf on top of an old-style steam heater. There are plenty of plugs around the room and the door has bolt lock with old-style key. ​The Con: My only tiny gripe? The pillows. They were a bit on the "pancake" side of the spectrum, very thin and definitely not fluffy. If you like a firm loft, you might find them lacking. ​The Amenities The fireside library and parlor are perfect for pretending you're reliving the 18th-century lifestyle, and the covered front porch is elite-tier for people-watching. Parking is easy: you can pay for the off-street spot or just roll the dice with the free street parking (which was totally fine). ​The Food & The "Staff" The breakfast spread is legit. We're talking yogurt varieties, hard-boiled eggs, fresh fruit, homemade granola, and homemadr scones that I am still thinking about days later. Seriously, the scones alone are worth the booking. Also, special shout-out to the resident dog who clearly thinks he's the General Manager. He's the friendliest employee on the payroll. ​The location is walkable to a bunch of local shops and restaurants, so you're right in the heart of things. If you want a comfy stay that is affordable and feels historical but isn't "stuffy," this is your place!

The inn is located in ElmWood- the area is very walkable. Close by to many local shops and restaurants. The inn communal area is very pretty and is filled with histories. We were in awe how well maintained the inn was. The staffs were all very friendly. I really enjoyed talking to Polly. She was very accommodating. The stay comes with light breakfast included. The room is huge and is nicely furnished. Some improvement suggestions I would have is having more outlets or extension cords. The room actually faced the street and it was shockingly not too noisy, though I thought the inn was thoughtful when I saw they did provide a white noise machine. First off, the property, the building, what we could see of the grounds is beautiful. It's still snow covered and cold, but I bet this place is lovely in the summertime. Through the front entrance into the grand foyer, there are no signs, no host, or any indication of where to go, so we looked in different doorways, found a bathroom, a lounge, a long hallway; eventually a gentleman spotted us wandering and asked if we were here for brunch. When we entered the dining room, the friendly server came by and told us to sit anywhere, pointed out the coffee and juice and food in the next room. She was a doll. There were 2 guys eating in the dining room, and by the time we left, only one more table of ladies came in, not busy at all. It was quite inexpensive for what they offered (2 adults $40) you could add mimosas or something else from the bar, if you wanted a beverage other than juice, water, coffee, or tea. The food was just ok, there were plenty of lunch and breakfast choices, the mac and cheese was good, their take on Italian Wedding soup was good, but it was mostly just ok. Some things were obviously sitting a while, e.g. the Minestrone was the consistency of chili, but hubs tried it and said it was good. Parking, unfortunately, is far from the entrance, and the long walk to the door very icy, unsalted and dangerous. Maybe we try again in better weather, we'll see.

Each bedroom is different and beautiful. We stayed in the Hummingbird Room which has a very comfortable king bed, a gorgeous built-in floor to ceiling armoire, and a large tub and rain shower in the beautiful bathroom. The B&B is located in a very cute residential part of Allentown, only a 6-10 minute walk to Allen Street with its many restaurants and shops. The three-course breakfasts and fresh juices that Mary Sue prepares and serves are different every day. Each meal is made from scratch and tasted heavenly. She is really an artist disguised as a chef, and I'm not sure we've ever had anyone who has cooked for us with such talent and care before. When we told her we couldn't eat that much in the morning, she quickly adjusted her menu to fit our needs. Daniel helped serve breakfast in the morning and gave us so many great suggestions for restaurants, places to see, best places to park, and more. There's a small shared fridge for guests on the first floor where we kept some food & leftovers which we really appreciated using. It was a long day and drive so I didn't stay around to use the pool and sauna. A year and a half ago I did get to spend the night and use all the facilities. We took a few classes with trainers that were top notch. I believe it used to be a campground so now they have rustic but comfortable cabins. The beds were comfortable you have a sitting area, tv and private bath that comes with a thick comfy robe to use. The cabins a set between the trees with a water view so you have great sun rise and sunset views.
