I also want to mention the day and night supervisors Dawn and John who were always so compassionate. Special thanks to John for being there during mom's final moments. In my opinion at Golden Gate you have some of the best nurses on the 4th floor, and 2nd floor when mom first arrived. The aides were very caring and took that extra mile with mom's daily care as best they could. I never thought I would place mom in long term care, but when we could not take care of all her medical needs at home we knew it was the right decision and I am glad we selected Golden Gate. A big THANK YOU to the Social Services ladies who could not be sweeter and always accessible to answer questions. Laura was a sweetheart and always there to answer my financial questions. Many thanks to Debbie the speech therapist working with mom during the last few months to see how we could get her to eat without too many issues, not knowing we had a bigger issue coming. The P/T and O/T tried so hard to make her body move but it was an overwhelming task for them and mom, but I thank them for understanding her limitations and not making her endure more pain than necessary. Now I learn to live without my most precious gift, my mother. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.

Clove Lakes rehabilitation I spent close to 3 months…read morerecovering from a fractured pelvis. I already had a stroke which made it more difficult to recover. I had a choice which rehab on Staten island to choose from. I had heard that Clove Lakes had a good reputation for therapy. I was fortunate to have two very good therapists that would not let me give up and helped me push through my pain. Ruel my physical therapist and Imran my occupational therapist Imran were not only knowledgeable but motivating. I looked forward to my therapy sessions everyday. P.S. The gym is new and well equipped. The therapists are knowledgeable and treat patients with respect. I was also very happy with the CNA's that were assigned to my care. They were pleasant to be around, they were very helpful and encouraged me to get stronger and more independent. They were gentle and kind and did not make me feel uncomfortable. A special thanks to my regular CNA's that helped me most Charlotte, Tamara, Eleanor, Phyllis. Kudos to Tamara and Charlotte for helping me with all my needs in the mornings and always getting me to therapy on time. I was pleased with all nurses and CNA's on my floor. My only complaint is there should be more CNA'S assigned on certain shifts. Now for the downside. Elevators that only work sometimes. There are times you could wait up to 30 minutes to get on since we all have wheelchairs since elevators are always breaking down. FOOD.. I understand it is difficult to prepare meals for so many people with different need but I challenges the cooks to taste what they serve. Good thing they offered some alternatives if you were lucky if they answered the phone. Bring your loved one some goodies. All and all, I made the right choice,

My mom contracted a UTI & we were never notified of the infection and only found out when my mom told us they took a urine test and was on an antibiotic. The facility is very outdated for the amount they charge for room & board & needs a big facelift If you are thinking about placing your loved one at Clove Lakes for rehab or long term, think about another facility & do some research before you do.

The two massage therapists came in and asked us if we wanted medium or strong pressure and we both said medium. I guess in this instance medium is subjective because it definitely felt stronger than what we both wanted and yes, we told them it was too much pressure. The MT massaging me, was seemingly fixated on my left shoulder pulverized it to the point that it is still sore and uncomfortable as I type this. My partner stated that his MT never even had him turn over and kept them face down the entire massage. When we were done, we managed to get dressed, make it to the front, and pay for that torture session. They offered us a cup of water. No thank you. We paid, tipped the MT's and left. We won't be back.
