The whole environment is great. The lifeguards are attentive. The pool is super clean. Locker rooms are super clean.

The facility is always clean and friendly staff. The towels and equipment are always clean and maintained.

Someone stole my $300 RayBan glasses here. Took my kid to swim lessons and sat on the bleachers. Placed my glasses on top of my kids swim bag and towel, walked to the bathroom and came back and my glasses were gone. Asked the lifeguards when they were taking a break between lessons and they said they didn't see them. Asked the group of parents in the locker room who were also just sitting there watching their kid swim, they all said they didn't see them. Glasses don't just get up and walk away! So somebody stole and I'm not sure if it was a lifeguard or a parent but somebody did a bad thing and I hope they feel terrible about it. read more

My husband excitedly chose this facility to attend swim lessons with our 5 year old daughter only to be disappointed after finding out they don't offer family changing rooms. The staff and recreation coordinator expect my husband to either let our 5 year old change herself alone in a room full of strange women or to have him bring my daughter into a mens changing room where there were male body parts on FULL display. They offered no other options. After my husband verbalized he understood the rules and was on his way out, a male employee followed him and our daughter into the parking lot harassing them about following the rules. After my husband cussed his ass out cause you don't follow a man and his underage child into a parking lot, the recreation coordinator sent a nasty email telling my husband he's not welcomed back. No apology for their facilities lack of regard for underage children nor for their employees bold and inappropriate actions. Would never recommend this place. read more

This pool has been a wonderful resource to me while my normal 'pool home' at El Cerrito Swim Center has been undergoing renovations in the winter of 2018. As a resident of Richmond, this pool is actually closer to my home, .50 cents cheaper per swim, and has some great and very convenient hours, like staying open later on Tues-Thurs. nights and good (but short) weekend hours. Staff is friendly and younger and the parking lot is slightly poorly lit, but usually I feel safe and go about my business without worrying getting to and from my car to the facility. The pool itself is on the shallower side, most of the deep lanes are used up the by club teams for younger kids that practice here and there are a lot of slow water walker lanes for those type of aquatic activities. Generally it's a slow pool. Not a lot of speedy people show up to swim laps that I've encountered! The pool is neat in that all sections are linked up together but each area is defined. It's a wonderful indoor pool to take kids to play. I like seeing families come with their kids to enjoy, even in the dark and cooler winter months. The kids section of the pool also has the gradual depth grade so kids can wade in. There are fun squirting water structures in the kiddie area as well. The fact that this pool is indoors is both a pro and con for me, as I like swimming outside quite a bit, but sometimes it's cold, air quality is bad, one may want sun protection, etc. but for little ones the fact that it's indoor makes it year round and I see they have swim lessons going on in the winter. I am not sure, but I think the roof retracts? That must be Chevron Money! There is also an outdoor pool and playground but this seems to be out of operation, even though the whole facility is pretty new. Not sure if it's open in the summer. Locker rooms are nothing special, they have lockers you can lock/store things in, a couple of showers with stalls and benches and curtains for ADA compliance, and the rest of the showers are in one large area like a normal locker room shower. There are benches and mesh bags for hangin belongings in. There are no hand dryers that double as hair dryers hung higher up on the wall, so you must bring a hair dryer or a turban if you wish to leave with dry hair or a warm head. Only one paper towel dispenser and one trash bin, plus 4 bathroom stalls. It is usually very clean. read more

Love their tot splash, 0-5 years old I think. It's kind of early I the morning but a nice start to the day. I bring my baby and we both get in for an hour for $4. It's a very clean place and nice kids working there. The only downside I would say is that the water is a bit cold for me, especially in the kids area. I really wish it was warmer. My daughter usually doesn't last too long in the water because she gets too cold. read more

We came here because Richmond Plunge was closed to family swim due to maintenance. We were surprised and pleased that the facility was very clean and well maintained. It was a really hot day when we came so we enjoyed the indoor setting. The retractable roof was opened over the main pool so the sunlight that came through really liven up the place. The temperature at the pool was just right, although the splash area for toddlers was cold. We enjoyed our visit. read more

I have been here plenty of times for a swim and I love it. Staff is really nice and the locker rooms are very well organized and clean. The water temperature is nice and warm and the water is as clean as it will get for swimming pool water. They also have an outdoor pool, which I am assuming it is used during the winter or for some other type of activity. The fee to get in is reasonable and way cheaper than to pay for a gym membership to just use the swimming pool. read more

I've been enjoying this pool for the past 2 weeks and I loooove it!! Very clean pool. I see children occasionally on certain days, but mostly it's not too crowded. After searching forever for an indoor pool around here, I finally discovered this pool at Kennedy High School. The facility is clean but a bit run down. The water is warm and there are rarely more than 2 people per lane. My only complaint is that the lap swim hours (like all the other pools around here) are limited. read more

It was 85 degrees when we came to this pool. It's smack dab in the hood and we had to be placed on a waiting list to enter for admission. Not enough life guards they said. Nice pool. No water extraction for your swimming suit. I just found out that the plunge doesn't allow kids in their pool and they send them here. Richmond residents need to make a stink...but enough of my political rant and back to review...this place is clean and decent..lots of kiddos thou. read more

Came to the Richmond Swim Center for the first time last night - tried the Aqua Zumba. The facility - and water - are warm. No open windows or doors. The Lifeguards are helpful and happy to speak with you. Very quiet and a lot of room to do your own thing. read more

We have been to all the public pools in the area and this is a very nice, clean pool. Temperature was kinda cool but not cold. There are a lot of different sections of the pool and that allows for different usages which is nice. The staff was attentive and kind too. We love the Richmond plunge and only ventured here as the shallow end is closed for repairs right now. We are glad we did because it is close to us and it is nice to have another option as all the public pools have slightly different hours. read more

This pool is closed indefinitely for repairs. It was a great pool for all kinds of activities for all ages, but the new plan was made without community input. so the future usage may be quite different. According to council member Nat Bates, the repairs will be finished in one year, i.e., March 31,2015 and the outdoor pool will also be usable. read more
