Superb. This is a serious business, centred around safety and learning. My kids love it.

For the most part, he seems to be adjusting to the lessons, regardless of instructor. The only consistent issue I've been noticing is that whenever there is a schedule adjustment or pool closure which affects the lessons, they are very slow in issuing refunds or credit. In fact, you have to keep on them otherwise you'll probably not receive any compensation back. It has been a week since a recent pool closure affected my son's Saturday lesson, and we still have not received anything. The front desk said that they are "behind."

They offer Tot Swim (including on Sundays) which is honestly such a fun addition. We called ahead of time with a bunch of questions as newbies and inquired about walk-ins. We received answers to everything we needed to be set up with success for our first swim. There's also a super cool vending machine by the bathrooms/showers/changing areas that offers nutritious pre and post snacks, goggles, sunscreen, and I think swim caps too. The indoor pool is super spacious and everyone was respectful (of lanes, hehe). You're able to utilize pool accessories during the swim hours and there's lifeguards on duty with a stop watch to let you know when Tot time is over. We had around an hour and 15 or so. There's an awesome grass area and epic park next door. Parking is accessible in front of center. Can't wait to return! Definitely check the swim calendar online before heading over.

The variety of court sports (tennis, racquetball, pickleball) is a big bonus, especially when you want a break from monotonous workouts. 2. Friendly & Professional Staff The front desk team, trainers, and maintenance staff are all approachable, helpful, and responsive. Whenever I've had a question or requested assistance (be it with equipment, scheduling, or classes), it's been addressed promptly and with a smile. 3. Community Feel This is more than just a gym -- there's a sense of belonging. Members say hello, staff recognize faces, and there's a positive energy in the place. It feels like more than a place to lift or swim; it's a place where people want to spend time.

Some facilities are…read moreokay but not worth what they charge, and the jacuzzi often has a very strong chlorine smell that even irritates your eyes. I was there with four children and felt disrespected during an interaction with the owner Bruce. The way I was spoken to felt rude and condescending, yelling and threatening to call the police over moving chairs its crazy. Our membership was canceled right after his meltdown. Paying members deserve to be treated with courtesy and respect. I also observed the summer camp area while there. Children who were not in the pool didn't seem to have any alternative activities and were mostly left sitting around, with staff often raising their voices and telling them if they don't get in the pool is their problem. Overall, I left with the impression that this club prioritizes collecting fees over providing quality service and a positive experience for families. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this club.

Before they started, I warned their instructor that we did not expect much because both of them were very hesitant about getting in the water and often refused to even try things like putting their face in the water or doing assisted floating. Jianna did an AMAZING job with my kids, because by the end of the 4 weeks, my 5 year old was swimming unassisted in backstroke and freestyle across the pool, and practicing skills to keep herself afloat and able to safely get to the wall. My 3 year old who wanted nothing to do with the water was getting in on his own, kicking when instructed, and even attempting to blow bubbles. Jianna was so patient and positive with my kids, and they looked forward to seeing her every day. She was attentive and so knowledgeable, and was able to work with very different development and skill levels extremely effectively. She has taken away so much stress from this mom and I am extremely grateful to her and Sunsational for these lessons. Definitely will be using again and highly recommend!

But the gym has most of what I need and isn't as expensive as other gyms so worth the price. What grosses me out the most is the water fountain. I'm not sure the water fountain has ever been cleaned. It looks moldy and just disgusting. I've been going to this 24 hour fitness for years and the water fountains have just been getting more and more dirty.

This gym has good equipment, but the men's locker room is one of the worst I've experienced. The smell is awful. Not every single day, but the majority of the time I come in, the locker room smells like sewage or mildew. For the amount members pay every month, it shouldn't smell like this. The biggest issue is the complete lack of enforcement in the sauna and steam room. There are signs everywhere that clearly say NO SHOES and NO ESSENTIAL OILS, yet people ignore them constantly. Members walk in wearing the same shoes they just wore throughout the gym, and people pour essential oils on the sauna heater, which repeatedly causes the sauna to be shut down. Everyone else ends up paying for one person's stupidity. Here's what I don't understand. There are security cameras throughout the gym, but there isn't one positioned outside the entrances to the sauna and steam room. I'm not saying put cameras inside--that would obviously be inappropriate--but put one outside the entrance. If someone walks in wearing shoes or damages the equipment, staff can review the footage, identify the member, document the violation, and hold them accountable. Instead of simply telling someone to leave that day, the gym should: * Issue a warning and document it on the member's account. * If it happens again, issue a final warning. * If they continue ignoring the rules, revoke their membership. * If the person is using a guest pass, the warning should also be attached to the member who brought them in. People only respect rules when there are actual consequences. This location has also been shut down multiple times over the years because of burst pipes and maintenance issues. Between that, the smell, and the constant sauna problems, it feels like this club is being neglected. What really blows my mind is that I also have a Planet Fitness membership that costs about $10 a month, and somehow their locker rooms and bathrooms are consistently cleaner than this gym that costs three times as much. I've also been to the 24 Hour Fitness in Walnut Creek, and it's like night and day. Their locker room actually smells clean, the sauna is usually working, and the entire facility feels much better maintained. That tells me this isn't a 24 Hour Fitness problem. It's an El Cerrito management problem. Corporate needs to invest more in this location by hiring additional cleaning staff, increasing how often the locker rooms are cleaned, and actually enforcing the rules that are already posted. Signs don't do anything if nobody enforces them. I genuinely want this location to improve because it's convenient and has a good selection of equipment. But until management starts taking cleanliness and accountability seriously, I can't recommend this gym.
