I will start this review by noting that they have had ELEVEN BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU COMPLAINTS IN THE LAST THREE YEARS! They "repaired" our transmission in 2023 for more than $6K. We had to be towed back because they failed to properly connect spark plug wires TWICE, which destroyed our catalytic converter! Fast forward and the transmission which is still under warranty has failed again. It has been another 6 weeks of being told they can't get a part. Then a week ago today they told us the part just now came in and our truck will be done by the end of the week. It was not. I called today and was told the exact same story-the part just now came in and our truck will be done by end of the week. When I ask to speak to the owner about this, I was hung up on, then they wouldn't answer the phone. Then when the owner finally did take my call he screamed at me for asking what part was ordered and demanded to know if I was a transmission expert since I wanted to know about parts. I asked because he kept telling us how hard it was to get a part. He then told me there were a lot of customers ahead of me, he didn't have an available lift to put our truck on, and was rude, demeaning and hateful, because I asked what part was ordered. He also told me that he has been in business for 40 years and doesn't need to look a car to diagnose transmission problems or know what parts to order. AVOID THESE GUYS AT ALL COSTS, unless you enjoy overpaying and waiting for weeks upon weeks to be lied to, yelled at, and pay thousands to pay someone else to fix what they "repaired" while paying even more money for a rental car while they hold yours hostage. I have filed complaints with BBB, the Florida Department of Agriculture, and The Florida Consumer Protection Division of the Office of the Attorney General. read more

The absolute worst customer service I have ever experienced. The mechanic Frank, completely rude and in considerate. Treated both my parents like they were stupid and claimed to have fixed their car but it runs worse now than it did they say they brought it in. NOT TO MENTION- After they preformed their horrible service on our car we picked it up with multiple grease stains and marks all over, and my Dad had to clean it up. I took my car to the dealership to diagnose a potential transmission problem, immediately thinking the worst. They told me I had bad tires and that's why my car was shaking. I took their word for it until my car began to shake at a stoplight.. obviously not a tire problem. I then proceeded to take my car to Richmond Transmission where Christine and Frank courteously got me into the system quickly and diagnosed the problem within an hour as a bad spark plug. frank was awesome! he was super knowledgeable and helped explain things to me without making me feel stupid, and also offered to call my dad to explain things to him since he couldn't be there with me. frank and his guys fixed my car quickly and while it was expensive, it was a lot of work that needed to be done and he made sure to keep an open line of communication after i got my car back to make sure everything was still running fine! thank u so much!!! read more

Called Frank and set up an appointment to have my transmission serviced and the u-joints replaced. He took my information, got started working on the truck, and called me at 11:30 with the truck finished. He did a great job, the truck is rolling quietly down the road and runs great. First let me say..They ARE NOT accredited with the BBB, which they advertise they are. They lost this in June of 2023, and I can see why. They have no problem taking your money and Not completing the job. Took my transmission in to be rebuilt, which to me means take out bad parts and replace with new ones. After getting the trans back and installing it, it was worse than when we took it up there. Took it back as it was under warranty, figuring it needs a few tweeks and should have it back in a week....not so... after soooooo many excuses, and this was my favorite one..."Whoever worked on it last put in the wrong parts"...THEY WERE THE ONES WHO WORKED ON IT LAST!!!! So 10 weeks later still no truck just attitude and nasty comments like it's our fault they don't know what they are doing. Owner stated he lost money on this job. All I can say is Karma is a you know what...do a good honest job and you won't cost yourself money. read more

My 2003 Honda died on the road today so had it towed to Richmond Transmission for repair. The problem turned out to be a bad starter. The owner Frank and his wife Christine were very helpful and courteous. I'm very pleased with everything they did. What can I say the team of experts at Richmond took a nightmare scenario from a previous transmission place and turned it into a Dream Ride. My boyfriends 1997 Ford F350 Diesel has never driven smoother or shifted more seamlessly then after Frank and his crew had their hands in the tranny case. We can't thank them enough and having dealt with plenty of sketchy mechanic Services I have to say this was one of the best experiences we have ever had. They keep you informed every step of the way bring you in to look at damages even take pictures thank you Frank and thank your team it's a joy to drive this truck again! I just want to say that Frank and Christina run a great shop. I took my mother's Lincoln 1994 to another transmission place and they wanted to charge her 4K for a new one. The car wasn't worth putting in that kind of money. We tried Richmond and Frank said she didn't need a transmission that all the fluids, etc needed to be cleaned. Once he did that car ran great. Months later, she had a break problem Frank found the ABS part which is not easy to do on a 1994 Lincoln with 240,000 miles. Yes 240K. Well he found the part and fixed the car again. Frank and Christina are great people, the problem they have is finding good mechanics that want to work. He has a great work ethic, he will try and help any way he can. read more

I called Richmond's transmission after being left on the side of the road by my 2004 Honda odyssey. I thought my transmission went out because I could not accelerate above 30mph. When I brought the van in, it ran perfectly for Frank. A week later it did it again. I had it towed again to Frank, and he did not give up until he found the problem. The catalytic converter was clogged! He fixed it at a great price and got the job done fast. I went back to have my engine cooling fan replaced. The job was done fast and again, a low price! "This transmission is not serviceable but we can do it anyway," said Frank at Richmond Transmission. I couldn't find a new transmission. Shop after shop said "no, sorry. Can't be repaired." I went into his shop and spoke with Frank the repairman, hands dirty because he is hands on even though he owns his shop. His team has decades experience, and hes old fashioned in the sense that he will show you the problem rather than tell you about it, and he will tell you how he will fix it without nonsense. His pleasant wife was supportive to me as a customer and never failed to assist me and her husband Frank. I never felt like I was in the waiting room when I arrived, and I'm extremely grateful for his unique services unlike other local auto shops. Being at Richmond Transmission reminded me of the days when I was a kid riding my bike to the local auto shop and seeing a man like Frank willing to show me cool things about cars. With rising popularity among the locals, I recommend Richmond Transmission and Auto of Melbourne, FL especially to troubled people who are unable to solve a problem. Was looking for a repair shop to have some extended warranty work done, decided to DL yelp app and give it a try. Searched under automotive repair and looked through quiet a good many read slot of reviews and Richmond Transmission and Automotive caught my eye. Read all reviews and pondered a bit. The next day I called and talked with Frank, he told me to bring it by and he would look at it. He gave the diagnostic and talked to the warranty company, they were not going to pay for anything. I just bought vehicle 2 weeks before. He kept in touch with me through whole ordeal. Told him to go ahead and repair vehicle on my dime and I would take care of test. He tore into motor and found out pistons had disintegrated, now whole new ball park. They wouldn't do a 1800$ fix, so they got stuck with replacing the motor. These guys and gals have bent over backwards to make sure I was taken care of. He is a really great guy and I am recommending anyone that needs any kind of repair work done. Absolutely avoid. I've spent 35 years in the military living across America and I have never experienced such an unprofessional repair facility. In this case they charged for work to fix a transmission on a Acura MDX. After departing the local area, the transmission started to act up again. The vehicle was taken to a Honda Service shop and the mechanic actually recorded on the invoice the "new" transmission fluid was not correct and burnt. They also recorded the repairs and parts from Richmond Telematics/Automotive do not appear to have occurred or been replace. We contacted Christina and Frank on multiple occasions, initially they will talk to you, but as soon as you indicate a problem they will not answer your calls and future calls go direct to voice mail. With persistence on our part, Frank finally said he set up an appointment at a local AAMCO shop that would honor the warranty. We called AAMCO in advance, they had no knowledge of this arrangement. With 5 follow up calls to Christina and Frank at Richmond T. over the past two business days, they will not pick up or answer our calls. In summary, we have a vehicle that is un-drive-able, a business that won't stand by their work or warranty, a future bill to get the vehicle in working order. This has the worst auto repair experience ever. As a follow-up, other first's include a Better Business Bureau notification, Small Claims law-suit filing, and other website review inputs. read more
