Been going to the Richmond Veterinary Hospital for about 10 years and absolutely love everything about it from the reception staff, vet assistants, vet techs to the doctors. When I've had some emergencies with my dogs and it was something better served by an emergency clinic I was referred to Wilson's in Romeo where, again, the dogs received excellent care. I have always been given treatment options including some simple ones like cleaning ears or massaging a sore leg and if that didn't work took them in and tried another solution. No unnecessary treatments or tests have ever been pushed and best of all both dogs love both Dr. Guisinger and Dr. Donovan as well as the rest of the staff. read more

Dr. Donovan is the worst. Made rude and demeaning comments to me during the visit. When I questioned the charges, she ranted about the President and rising gas prices. She then continued her temper tantrum by throwing the paperwork at me and stormed out of the room. They backed her up of course even though this was apparently not her first complaint. In my opinion, given what I have experienced there, her concern is not for the animal, only the bottom line. Do yourself a favor, go somewhere else. read more

Dr G. is the absolute BEST vet in the business. He is caring, compassionate, very knowledgeable. He took care of my 2 miniature Schnauzers their whole lives until they passed. He is now caring for my new furbaby. I would highly recommend him. read more

Front desk staff are nice and helpful as they are able to be. They obviously have way more patients than they can effectively manage. It's an ok place if you're just doing well visits however, DO NOT expect to get an appointment if your animal is sick. They never have availability and on several occasions I have had to take my dog to other veterinary hospitals. Honestly, what use is it being an established patient at a veterinarian if they are always too booked to see your pet when they are sick? Picking up medical records for my dog this weekend and he will see his new vet this Tuesday. Hopefully, I have a much better experience at the new vet. read more

My dog had been very sick for months, she was 12 and we knew we were getting close to the end. The previous vet had not diagnosed anything and we had gone back many times. Within the first appt here, they diagnosed her and put her on end of life care that helped her dramatically. Even when we picked an appt to be put down, we had to cancel because we were not ready. Called to see if I could get my puppy in for a medical emergency and I was almost in tears trying to explain the situation to the female I spoke to and she rudely and abruptly cut me off and said no they wouldn't see me. Unprofessional. Rude. Would drive my animals HOURS to go somewhere else before ever even attempting to go back there. I have been going here for a little over a year now I've always had amazing experience and never had any issues, until today. I had an appointment for two of my cats both for nail trimmings and one I was told needed a vaccine in order for them to do the nail trimming. No problem scheduled the vaccine when I arrived I was told it was a Well visit and was charged for the cat to see a doctor. something wasn't adding upright and I asked to see the records the records indicated my cat had a well visit six months ago. When I question them, they then told me it was my other cat that was seen six months ago and they documented on the wrong cat, which then led me to think they vaccinated the wrong cat So I questioned them and they became very rude and condescending and told me I must've brought both cats and they did a courtesy well check and didn't charge me for one of them which I know for a fact I did not bring both. Not only did they document medical record information on the wrong cat. They wanted to argue with me, disrespect me and asked me to leave because I wanted the medical records of my cats corrected and they told me they could not change a medical record.. I've never been talked to by "professionals" with such disrespect in my life. I have a valid concern that they are not only documenting on the wrong animals but treating them wrong read more

Incompetent vets. We took our newly adopted greyhound for an appt. I asked about her ear because she had some brown substance when I wiped out the ear and the ear was VERY sensitive. The dr looked in her ear and said that since it wasn't inflamed, to just clean with a solution that they gave us. After no improvement, we returned and saw a different dr. and they said the same thing. We didn't feel this was the correct advice, so we found a new vet office. She took one look and immediately said she probably has yeast infection in that ear. Sure enough, that's what it was. Gave us drops and a script, and it was cleared up quickly and has been fine ever since. Poor girl shouldn't have had to suffer with that pain because they couldn't diagnose a simple ear infection. read more

Kelly, the tech, is so loving with my big baby of a German Shepard, Anita and Virginia are so kind and always break down my bill and ask how all my pets are doing! Both the doctors, Guisinger and Magri, are very intelligent and knowledgeable! Dr magri found my dog has a pancreatic tumors just by suggesting we do blood work that I never thought of! Been going here for years and thought we were getting good care for our dogs. Took our seven year old goldendoodle in for two lumps. He has also been a little lethargic. They ran blood tests and body scan xrays and concluded that he was perfectly healthy except for his knees. I called the doctor for an explanation and she told me his knees are bone on bone. She said there is no surgery to fix this and he would be on pain killers and arthritis medication the rest of his life. This cost over $500.00 (good thing we have insurance). This didn't sound right to me so we took him to MSU. They took additional xrays. He was examined by a vetrinarian, an orthopedic specialists and two surgeons. Come to find out there are all kinds of fixes for knees depending on what is wrong. Their diagnosis, however, is that there is absolutely nothing wrong with our dog. They recommended to stop the arthritis medication and pain killers because he does not has arthritis nor, are his knees bone on bone. Richmond Vet flat out lied! Complete misdiagnosis! read more

EVERYTIME I come in here it's a s*** show.. there is one lady Chris who is so rude and always has an attitude with all customers..she acts like she hates her job. I was in there and someone asked the weight of my dog and she overheard and said is he oversized ? No it runs in his family and she says o wow yeah he for sure is going to have hip problems.. how rude ! I call and have a question she's completely rude! I came to pick up a prescription today. Virginia at the counter was possibly the rudest person I've encountered in a LONG time. I came in to pick up a prescription and Virginia was on the phone. She points at me and tells me to " Sign in ". I stated I was there only to pick up a prescription. She pointed at me again and said " Sign in ". Ok.. I'll sign in. She hangs up the phone and tromps over as if she is annoyed we are there and I told her again why we were there. She looks for my file ( seemingly annoyed again ) and said there was no prescription in my file. I explained that I had called Wilson vet 2 days ago in Romeo and they were going to fax over the prescription. Instead of picking up the phone and calling Wilson vet in Romeo to find out the problem she cleaned the counter and didn't make an effort to help us with our problem. I wound up calling the Romeo office from my cell phone. Meanwhile while I am on the phone with them she rudely interrupted me and said " Don't hang up! " She held out her hand as to que me to hand my cell phone over. So I reluctantly gave her my phone ( How do I know she doesn't have the flu? ) and took my phone in the back to talk to the Romeo office. She comes back still talking to the other office, rolling her eyes, making hand gestures and trying to set up for me to go pick up the prescription from the Sterling Heights office because they didn't have the Gabapentin that I needed ( why would I do that when I'm closer to Romeo? ). I asked her for my phone back and left. My husband was dumbfounded with her rudeness as well. Virginia I hope you read this, you belong at Walmart stocking shelves, Not at a vets office. read more

Yeah no pressure.... this office is good for simple problems, but when it comes down to really investigating in finding what's wrong with your pet, they'd rather not even offer more tests and send you home with "soft tissue damage" instead of a severely enlarged heart because they didn't feel the need to really find out what was wrong with your dog after 3 visits.
