The playground is equip with all sorts of awesome apparatuses! It appears to be divided into three separate parks based on age. The toddler park was perfect for my little one, she didn't get bored in this park like other parks we have been to. Our favorite was the different merry go rounds, music area, pretend lemonade stand and the building blocks area, and endless areas for kids to run free and get all their energy out. The Sunset Cruise was a blast with more Dolphins than I have ever seen, and I have been on several. The Dolphin Snorkel tour was wonderful. Brian took us to 2 different snorkel spots. After that we went on a great ride, learning some history of the area and after a bit of searching we got more dolphins, with one swimming right in front of the boat. I highly recommend both trips. It would be great if Brian's boat was cleared for going out into the Gulf.

Still, I did a day hike on Gator Trail with THE Mr. Freckles McWolfington, and we had a blast. He wasn't happy about being stuck on leash, but it IS called Gator Trail for a reason. When we got back to the trailhead, we walked over to the little deck and were treated to a terrifying growl from what was either the biggest gator in Florida or a T-Rex, we weren't sure. First time hearing a gator growl - it was so freaking cool. If you get a chance, come out for a walk and some time on the beach - no dogs allowed, though (don't tell Freki I called him a dog, please).

There's a grassy area right in the middle of the park where people can bring chairs and blankets and enjoy the performances. Also, right accross from stage there is an amazing playground for kids and some other equipment that older kids can use as well. The park has a walking path that you can take strollers on and walk around. During some events the concessions are open behind the playground, and the bathrooms are located on the side of the building. More and more trees are now planted after Hurricane Michael destroyed it, so it will be even better soon. Love this park!

Parking was easy and plentiful. The house is pretty and the trees surrounding it are really cool. You can tour the house but we did not do that since we had little kids with us. There's a small gift shop where the tours start. There's a fountain in front of the house with koi in it but the water was full of algae. It was really hard to see the fish. I felt bad for them. There's a butterfly garden on the side of the house and we did see butterflies, dragonflies, bees and even a little frog. You can walk out on a pier over the water. There are picnic areas there of you would like to bring a lunch. Some of the water areas have warnings about gators and the trails have warnings about bears. Fortunately we did not run into either.

Destin, Rosemary Beach and Panama City Beach already allowed destruction of the gorgeous natural white-sand dunes that once graced the Gulf. Now they're coming for the forests. At least the trails here should remain since the park doubles as a water treatment facility. So sad - native Florida is getting devoured by development.

Visiting this park during the off season was especially rewarding, no crowds so we practically had the entire beach to ourselves, the white sugar sand and clear warm water was the perfect place to be on a warm fall day. Although shelling was a disappointment the abundance of wildlife and native plants more than made up for it. This is definitely a state park I'd return too, maybe spend a few days here in the RV when in the area...

Lots of cool buildings and it is about a 1/2 mile walk to the beach. There are some Pokemon stops if you play that game. The beach was nice and we spent about 30 minutes walking up and down the beach. It was a really nice day and this place is definitely worth a stop.
