Not the Family Magic & Comedy Show We Expected As a mom, I went with my husband and our children to this family magic show, expecting a fun, traditional performance but several children, including ours, were brought on stage more than we anticipated. Children on Stage - More Than Expected While audience interaction can be fun, it became a larger focus than we expected for a family show. Some parents nearby also seemed a bit uncomfortable and unsure with this part of the performance. The performer's style felt fairly intense at times, which influenced our family's comfort level. After a while, we decided it was best to leave before the show ended. Between our experience and observing other families' reactions, this was a bad experience for us. I ended up with a bad deal on this one. Be careful. I would not recommend attending the show or purchasing tickets for this. Families and customers should exercise caution. Every family has different comfort levels, so it may be helpful to know that the show brings children from the audience onto the stage. Has a good size parking lot. Pretty theater. Lots of glitter throughout the show. Cute husband/wife duo show. Magician had a calm demeanor during the whole show but his magic was good! He seemed like a nice guy. I got selected to go on stage which was fun! My reward was a free ticket to Ripleys Believe it or not and the Aquavia lumina show, as well as a free drink at a restaurant. The magic show was definitely entertaining for all ages! The most impressive IMO was getting a helicopter on stage. Fun fun! $50/ticket kind of pricey. read more

This show is only put on a couple of days a week. They have a huge private parking lot with free parking. The theater is cozy and clean. There is really not a bad seat in the house. I recommend getting your tickets early because seating is supposedly assigned by the date of ticket purchase. I will admit that the tickets are a bit pricy and they do not offer any discounts. The theater has a small concession stand and they sell popcorn and magic items. The show started right on time, which is a plus. The show is great family fun and features Rick and his wife Suzan. He does a great job with his magic. My family and I like the appearing helicopter illusion, the flying ball trick and the snow trick. They have about three opportunities for audience participation, so be prepared to raise your hand. They also have a card trick that the entire audience does with cards that are placed on their seat before they arrive. There was an issue with one of the card tricks, as the overhead camera that showed the trick was not turned on, so the audience never saw it. I understand that mistakes do happen, but at $50 a seat, they need to be avoided a bit better. There is an offer that pops up when you check-in here. It is for a free item at the magic shop. When I went to cash it in, no one there had any idea what is was. The referred me to Suzan Wilcox, who did not know where the offer came from and said that it was not them that did it. That created a very uncomfortable interaction and as I was about to leave, they said that they would still honor it and gave me a deck of their cards. I liked the show. It was entertaining. I think that it is a bit pricey though for what you get. The show lasted a little over an hour and at the end of it they have a little Q&A. Rick is a true showman and seems very friendly and personable. My littles are learning magic tricks with their cards as I type this review. read more

We had so much fun at this show! It's really great for all ages- we even had some 5 and 6 year olds who enjoyed it. The theater is charming and clean. You sit right up at the stage so you can see the illusions up close. There is a small concession stand for popcorn and treats. Show lasts a little over an hour. I highly recommend! read more

For kids and adults alike! My partner and I went to the show on a Monday night. We don't have any kids but the show was still great! We're still trying to figure out how they did everything! Happy to support a local family owned business and it truly was worth every cent. We bought tickets at the theater, although you can also buy them online. There are concessions available as well. Our 7 year old kids were pretty awe struck with this show and it has been their favorite part of our vacation this far. The show was very entertaining. The adults liked it as well. I would highly recommend this show and if we ever come back to Wisconsin Dells we will go again. Currently their seating arrangements are decided by order of purchasing. So the longer out you book the more likely you are to get the best seats. We booked several months in advance and our seats were front row and center. Each year we visit the Dells, and each year we make sure to see the show at the Rick Wilcox Theater. This year with COVID concerns, we were relieved to see how much attention to detail went into keeping the audience and performers well, while still delivering a very entertaining evening. The theater is kept spotless, distancing is taken seriously, and we felt very safe. Some businesses seem to be keeping things simple during the pandemic, but this show delivers the same punch it always has; the effects are amazing and the performers top-notch. It's so fun to watch Rick and Susan; they obviously love performing so much, and they've included some of their largest and most beautiful illusions this year. I was blown away by this spectacular performance. This is not your canned magic show. Expect comedy, candor and confusion. My son kept saying "how? what? wow!" Rick's congeniality captures young and old alike. He incorporates audience participation. This is the perfect family outing as he relishes amazing the younger generation. Susan is not to be dismissed. She is the glitter glue that holds the show together. Their friendly banter is endearing. She plays a role far greater the. A mere "assistant." We just left the 4:30pm show which was Fabulous. My husband and I have been to the Dells numerous times over the years but this was the first time we attended this show. The husband and wife team were great and the magic was not only displayed in their performance as great illusionist but the love that they have for one another. They were very engaging with the young as well as the older members of the audience. I strongly recommend that when you visit the dells make sure that this is one of your must see stops. read more

My family (Wife, Son-11 and daughter-9) had another fabulous time at the Rick Wilcox Magic Theater. We ordered tickets a couple weeks in advance and ended up in the front row! As other reviews have pointed out you will have a great view no matter where you sit, and while that is true, being up close really made a huge difference to us. I feel like being in the middle section gives you a better vantage point for all the magic. You cannot pick your seats in advance but ordering early will likely put you in closer seats. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The theater is comfortable and super clean. At the concessions you can get three items for $10. Not bad at all. The audience all had a blast that night. Many people got to come up and participate including my wife. Tons of laughs and mind blowing magic. Days later you will still be wondering how they did that. Some say the show is like what you would see in Vegas except that I've been to those shows and this is truly better. It is more intimate, with more audience participation. You feel like you are a welcome guest and not just a spectator in a big crowd. Rick and Suzan are very genuine and have amazing chemistry. You can meet them after the show, chat a little, take a picture or get an autograph. I feel that everyone at Rick Wilcox really goes out of their way to make sure your experience is memorable and your business is appreciated. There were a lot of kids at this Friday show and to see the looks of amazement on their faces was priceless. The only thing in the Dells that's truly worth the $, not a cheap tourist trap but Vegas quality, marvelous show put on Rick and his wife. I won't spoil and tell what kind of tricks they do but I loved every minute of it and came out of there like, "What the hell just happened?" The kids came out with wide bright eyes and smiles. I've always passed by his billboards, signs, and the theater whenever we would visit the Dells, and I don't know why it was just now that my family and I have decided to come and see his show! I should've came and watched a looong time ago. Rick is really good, as well as his graceful assistant/ his wife. The show is very kid friendly and there's quite a lot of audience participation and it was great. Tricks and illusions were very impressive and still surprises you no matter what age you are. Update: This show was incredible! We have 4 boys ranging from 9 to 18 and they were ALL so captivated by the entire show! There aren't enough stars to show how awesome this show is! We can't wait to come back next year! We highly recommend! Nicest people ever! I totally messed up my order and they were so gracious and helpful! I have not seen the show yet, but have tickets in July and am already so impressed with the professionalism and character of the Rick Wilcox Theater employees! This man is tooo tooo amazing !! Rick and Susan had put up a great show and we had a lot of fun. Rick had a wonderful personality and kept his audience interested in the show throughout. It's a must go specially if you have kids. One tip is to book tickets as early as possible because they mark your seats and you don't wAnna be seated in the back. Also another turnoff was the fact that no water fountain was inside so all you were left to buy is over expensive 4 dollars small water bottle. The popcorn was also way too overpriced. read more

Great illusions, but basically the same illusions performed three years ago on my last visit, right down to the climactic ending. I won't return until the show has been revamped with different illusions. Much too expensive, in my opinion, to return and see the same thing.
