Its tiny - the track and the stands, but it had a VIP section, and the people that worked there were very nice, and put up with our cameras and running around. They had a great beer selection (not that I could drink) and the food wasn't your typical track food - it went beyond cheese burgers and fries. And of course, you have your regular race fans - its always better in Wisconsin!

Unfortunately, I can't recommend it for younger kids because the safety measures simply aren't where they should be. There was very little guidance from staff, no shoulder harnesses, and no padding on the steering wheel. During parking, be prepared for kids crashing into the back of your kart, which resulted in more than a few cases of unexpected whiplash. What concerns me most is that this isn't a new issue. If you read through previous reviews, you'll find the same safety concerns being raised going back nearly 10 years. At some point, this stops being an oversight and starts looking like a choice. Height requirements alone aren't enough... there should also be a minimum age requirement (I'd suggest around 13 years old). For comparison, we also visited Tom Foolery's go-karts during our trip. They were actually $1 cheaper and had shoulder harnesses, padding, and a system that automatically slows karts down during parking and to help manage accidents. I truly hope Big Chief addresses these concerns, because with better safety standards, this could be a much different review.

Our famous track, Flemington Fair Speedway, the country's fastest 5/8 mile D-shaped dirt track is now gone (1915 to 2002). Flemington grew and property became more expensive. The track's property, once out in the middle of farm fields, became more expensive, property taxes raised, so the track closed so Flemington could build a multi-use town center and a Loews on the property. Most of our dirt tracks were once in the middle of nowhere, then the towns kept creeping closer and closer to the tracks. Original home owners couldn't complain about the noise, but the 2nd owner of the houses can. And did. New York state, Connecticut, Maryland tracks all suffered. Same with Ascot Park in LA.

We had a fun Friday night at Madison International Speedway! It was something different for my son…read moreand me to experience together, and we went to support a family friend who races in the high school league. It is pretty cool that students can now letter in racing as a sport. The atmosphere was fun, the food was good, the beer was inexpensive, and admission was reasonably priced. The seating could use a little fresh paint and some tightening up, but overall, it was a great summer outing. If you have never been, it is worth going at least once--grab some food, cheer on the racers, and have fun!

I would've given a five star rating but the track crew wasn't able to get the track watered enough for good racing until the last race, the feature for the IRA 410 winged sprints. Three classes of open wheel cars and we watched follow the leader on the bottom of the track with the winner coming from the front row for 15 races or more. Fastest qualifier was the very first car with the track drying up and becoming a slip and slide and a slow one groove track all night. I have never seen a dirt track watered on the top and bottom with nothing put in the middle. The top was not working until the last race. Four of us drove 5 hours to see the show only to wonder why are they not getting this track fixed/watered. NOT ACCEPTABLE!! Probably will never come back...
