Love the view from this place. Usually pretty busy, but not too busy to get in. The pork and pineapple kabobs were amazing. This may be my *thing* that I order every time. I've also tried the Ridge Top BBQ sandwich which was good but in my opinion nothing too special. The beer battered mushrooms on the other hand were amazing, maybe the best I've had. Very good. We were driving through the area and debated stopping in Knoxville, but we were looking for something a little more unique--and we're so glad we found this place! The food was delicious, classic Southern comfort food, and the views were absolutely beautiful. It was a nice spring day to sit outside on the patio, overlooking the Appalachian Mountains. We've been twice now. First time was absolutely wonderful! Wait staff ensured we had everything we needed and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal and had leftovers to take home. The second time the food was still good but the service was very disappointing. Our server--who we were told was new--forgot to bring our drinks and I think she forgot to put our order in altogether until my husband notified a different server that we hadn't gotten drinks after 15 minutes. The server did not put our order in properly and our "Hog Heaven" plate came out with everything on the side instead of just sour cream on the side. Was also missing chives. Server never bright any refills and my sweet tea was gone halfway through the meal. At this point we were in a hurry after waiting a while so we wanted to bring it with us. We forgot to ask for a to go cup for bbq sauce. We will be back again but hopefully service will be more on point. The prices are reasonable so long as the service is good. We just jumped off the highway to grab some lunch and stopped at Rickard Ridge BBQ at Cove Lake Park. It is just a couple of minutes off the highway and well worth it. Our meals were hot and delicious. The smoked chicken thighs, ribs, & pulled pork were so tasty and tender. The Green beans and sweet potato fries were also great. Our server was sweet and efficient. Great for family dining. We are from out of town and stopped in on an early Friday evening. I had the Lite BBQ plate and my husband had the meatloaf; both were very good. Staff were friendly and attentive. Restaurant was clean. There was even live music indoors. The only drawback was it was a bit noisy indoors (even before the band began), but it could have been due to a large group. We chose to eat outdoors and it was very nice. We brought our family of 6 to Rickard Ridge for the live blue grass on a Monday night. There was plenty of seating inside and they have a beautiful patio. I imagine if it wasn't down pouring it would have been the perfect place to listen to the music. The waitstaff was fantastic, greeting us right away with beverage ordering. We ordered fried green tomatoes and hush puppies for appetizers. The hush puppies were ok, the fried green tomatoes were amazing. My husband and I shared the BBQ platter, and catfish bites. It was plenty of food for two, and we took back leftovers to the cabin. The sweet potato fries and baked beans were my favorite, he enjoyed the ribs and smoked chicken thighs. My picky daughter had the chicken tenders. They were made fresh and very tender, not dried and frozen like many of the places we encountered on our trip. My oldest ordered the club sandwich. We all noted how great the fries were. My son had the pulled pork Mac and cheese. He said it was very filling and he did eat it all. My youngest got a salad and a basket of fries. She loved the ranch dressing. With a family of 6, it can be challenging to make everyone happy. The adults enjoyed the traditional bluegrass band and ease of seating with kind, responsive staff (she was blonde, maybe about 18 and wonderful all around!). We went to Rickard Ridge BBQ when we were traveling in the area. We had a large group and the staff were very nice and accommodating. After reviewing the menu, i struggled to decide what i wanted to eat. We ordered two appetizers, BBQ Potato Skins and Cheese curds. Both were very good, I would order them again (and recommend you do the same). I ended up ordering the burger sliders for my meal and they were okay. The burger patties were premade patties (they reminded me of sausage patties). our group ordered a variety of items and no one had any complaints. Our waitress was great. She gave us some information about the area and she gave us some ideas of things to do while visiting. Afterwards, we went through the park that is next to the restaurant. It was very nice. I'd like to rate them higher than a 4, but i don't think they deserve a 5. A rating of 4.5 would be appropriate but since i cannot do that, i will stick with 4. We were camping in this state park. It's beautiful, and in the middle of nowhere. When we saw the restaurant, we assumed it was a typical state park restaurant, but it appears that possibly this building was originally park property, but now it's independently owned. There was live bluegrass music on a Friday night, nice little surprise. we had the sliders, which were very good, with a side order of onion rings that were quite tasty. Onion rings are some thing that in my world you only eat one or two else you pay the price for the rest of the evening. Hubby had a catfish Poboy, and was again pleasantly surprised, and his fries were good as well. We even splurged and got dessert to go when we heard it was a cheesecake burrito - think deep fried cheesecake wrapped in pastry, served with a caramel sauce and brown sugar crumb topping. My family is vacationing at Deerfield Resort this week and wanted to try some different restaurants in the area. This particular location came highly recommended and I absolutely understand why. We visited this small establishment on Sunday and were delighted to find it located just inside Cove Lake State Park! The restaurant was very easy to find and had ample parking (even though the inside was pretty packed). Our larger group had to wait a bit for a table but the staff where so attentive, kind and frequently updated us on the status of our larger table. Once we were seated, our server was just as pleasant! We started with the Tennessee Sausage appetizer (which ended up being the fan favorite). It is served with small pieces of Naan-like bread and a cup of their AMAZING jalapeño-pimento cheese. The smokiness of the sausage paired perfectly with the pimento cheese and using the bread to hold it all together was just perfect. Our party also tried the Hog Heaven (essentially loaded potato skins topped with pulled pork), the Vol Burger (more yummy pimento cheese on this), the Cheeseburger Quesadilla (odd but absolutely delicious), the Mac Daddy (pulled pork sandwich topped with white cheddar mac & cheese) and the Baby Back Ribs! Everything was SO GOOD!! We were also all particularly fond of the barbecue sauce as well! The stand-out service, paired with the incredible food and beautiful views, makes this place a MUST-VISIT if you're in the area. We can't wait to go back!! read more

No live music, my "hog heaven" dish and my wife's burger were again very good. My suggestion on the hog heaven is to hold the sour cream and top the dish with the barbeque sauce found on the table.
