Tom is the best -- and the most honest! -- jeweler around. Plus, it is also amusing to see a guy…read morewho used to be an NFL lineman playing with tiny, very valuable rocks. He sells all kinds, but diamonds are always the big thing everyone sells so I'll concentrate on that. 1. Tom will not sell you a diamond until he is sure you understand what you're buying: cut, clarity, carat, and color. I did not know any of that when the women (ALL of them!) in my office insisted that I go to see Tom before I bought an engagement ring from anyone else, so I got a whole hour of very useful instruction. This also happens to be a very good way to learn how many high-end jewelers are ripping you off. 2. Pro tip (from Tom): never buy a diamond already in a setting. The setting makes it look twice as bit, which is the reason most retail stores will always show you ring already in a setting. 3. Tom not only allows you, but insists that you look at what you're thinking of buying under a microscope. Every diamond has flaws, and he will show you exactly what they are. 4. Tom will show you exactly how much he paid for the stone you are considering buying, and he'll show you what his mark-up is. It was really a great experience buying from Tom, and the wife got a very nice diamond for a reasonable cost (up to you whether to reveal that, but mine was glad I hadn't been silly with our money). Pro tip #2 (also from Tom) is to take Tom's valuation to your insurance agent when you get insurance for the jewelry.

Tom showed me the flaws in every diamond under microscope. The clouds and imperfections could easily be seen. It kept my dad from making a bad investment. I never forgot that.

When Phil opened this store in Montgomery in 2010(?), I was so happy. I'd moved here from Florida…read morein 2008 and was from San Francisco. Everything was online until I found this slice of nirvana in the Deep South. I found this treasure by 2011. Mind you, this store is truly an Emporium! Phil has books in pretty much every single topic with metaphysics and alternative religion. His library room is a place where you can spend hours. There is quite the selection of Tarot among with various oracle cards and stone Runes, a Nordic system of divination. Phil also sells books on Reiki and is a Reiki healer as well as teaching classes. There are candles for about every occasion and need. You will not be at a loss to find crystals as he carries soooo many. There is a large binder with explanations for the healing and magical properties of every stone. And, Phil has books for crystals along with how to create crystal grids. Mystical Treasures encourages wellness. The jewellery is amazing. He has beautiful pendants for every single price range. No one is left out when they come into Mystical Treasures. There is an incense room. The aroma of the various incense is calming and soothing to your senses. You walk into Mystical Treasures and feel just the chaos of every day living be gone for the time you stay at the store. Phil is very generous to allow people to teach classes. There is a monthly Wise Woman's Meeting on the 4th Saturday of the month. Our own Mama Mitzi, who also is a tarot reader and a spiritual advisor, facilitates this event. Mama Mitzi does tarot readings and advising on the premises. Check Facebook for announcements when she is in the house. Come visit Mystical Treasures Emporium. You will not be disappointed...

Horrible customer service -- complete waste of my time. I…read morecame all the way out of town because I was actually excited to visit this shop and support the business. I even called ahead of time just to make sure what time they closed before making the trip. When my boyfriend and I arrived, I walked around and saw several things I was interested in and wanted to ask about, including the teas and Krystal's. One employee was standing and talking with someone away from the counter, so I waited for an opportunity to get some assistance. There was someone sitting in the chair at the front counter, and my boyfriend and I both said "Excuse me" to get their attention. Instead of acknowledging us or offering any help, they continued their conversation. At that point, we simply walked right out. I came prepared to spend my money and support this business, and instead I was completely ignored. Why call ahead, drive all the way out there, and waste my time just to be treated like I wasn't even there? Customer service matters. I'll gladly take my business somewhere that actually appreciates customers. I will not be coming back.
