Bought a Swing Kingdom playset from them. There was poor communication regarding color from Paul. I signed for what I thought would be a different color. He later called me, at Swing Kingdom's request, saying that the color was not available and to clarify the color or potential new color. I stated I no longer wanted the swingset as it was not the color discussed. Rick's Sheds was unwilling to cancel, although they had poor communication regarding the color. They would not revisit store policy or make any exceptions although cancelling this brand new order would be easy to do for them. The workers were skilled and fast and then the shed was delivered within a few days. They had advanced moving equipment and were very clever getting this shed through a gap in the fence and into final position. There comes a time when the cost to fix a wooden shed, even a well built one, is just too expensive. This was the case with ours, and so I spent some time researching and comparing companies and offerings. Decided on Rick's based on a good friend's recommendation and a good deal on an early-season pre built shed. Online ordering was a bit uneven, I ordered and paid for the site inspection, then got an email advising I needed to pay for the site inspection. A quick reply with receipt attached, then a bit of phone tag and the inspector came out. No problems, our shed is on a platform. We schedule delivery & pickup of our old shed. Pay deposit. Rain. Reschedule. Rain. Mid is not your friend. Finally a clear day! Delivery was very smooth, the guys were friendly and professional, and the shed is great. I bought a 12 x 16 shed from Rick's in 1996. I've been making some repairs on the siding, replaced the doors, and re-painted. Because it looks almost like new now, I wanted to replace the faded 'Rick's Shed's' plate mounted above the door. I called Rick's THREE separate times and spoke to THREE different people, ALL of whom neglected to call me back with a response to my request. All I asked for was a 4 x6 inch plate, AND I would have paid for it (or Rick's could have spent maybe $1.50 for postage to mail the plate). What's the PROBLEM? So the question is: Would you give Rick's serious money for a new shed with that sort of arrogance and non-responsiveness over such a simple matter? Footnote: Turns out that I had to re-frame my new door because the original 1x trim that Rick's installed was seriously out of square. In addition, they used standard non-galvanized nails on the T-111 siding which quickly rusted and deteriorated. If they used proper nails when fabricating, the decay would have been avoided or minimized. So not only is Rick's customer service terrible but evidently their workmanship was crappy as well. With their intransigence in mind, I have no reason to believe the quality has improved over the last 26 years. read more

I can't stand to even give them 1 star. In a response to an earlier review on Yelp, a representative from Rick's Sheds says: "It is our goal to treat every person that walks through our doors or calls us, as a VIP customer." WHAT A JOKE. Less than 2 weeks ago, my wife called to inquire about a swing set that we had ordered and installed through Rick's Sheds in Aston. We have three small children and when the installer (part of the sale through Rick's) put the set in late last summer, I was moderately concerned about the lack of footers or some other fastener to stabilize the swing set. I was told at the time not to worry - that it wouldn't be a problem. I was initially skeptical as to whether the original installers had proper experience (they were teenaged boys), but it was their job and I assumed they were doing it correctly. Fast forward to this year, and the concern is a bigger deal, as the whole set is literally teetering off the ground and back down when the swings are in use by the kids. So my wife calls and eventually speaks to Emmett at Rick's Sheds, who ironically was the salesman on the original sale of the set, as well as two outdoor Adirondack chairs we purchased. (None of these items are low-dollar by any means.) She asks if someone from the company could come out and take a look at the set and fix if there are safety issues. Again, these are young children that play on this set, so any parent in their right mind would want to protect their children properly. Emmett proceeds to tell my wife it's going to cost $150 just to take a look at the set at our home. She asks why, as it may have been installed improperly. The response is that the set is only guaranteed for 6 months. But the set itself is not the issue - we're not asking someone to give us a new slide or rock wall for the thing. The issue is how it was originally installed. My wife asks if she can speak to a manager or someone else about the issue, as Emmett is clearly not interested in helping her. At which point he gets defensive and says: - Only God is above me (Who says that to a concerned customer who has spent thousands of dollars with your company?) - That Rick himself was on vacation, wouldn't be back for a week and wouldn't care to call her back anyway - And then he said the swing manufacturer wouldn't want to speak to her or help her either (Rick's resells these sets that are made by various companies) Never before has my wife been treated so badly by someone who is supposed to be a representative of a company to a customer. If it's worth it to Rick's Sheds to alienate people who have spent significant sums of money (and would be referrers of new business) for a measly $150, that tells me the company doesn't have its priorities straight or isn't aware of their sales/customer service reps reading from their own script whenever they feel like it. It won't surprise me if one of their representatives finds a way to spin this review (that is if they actually care enough to monitor reviews). But I assure you this company was in the wrong for the way they treated my wife. In fact she feels like she was mistreated on the phone particularly because she was a female caller. She was not abusive in any way on the call or overly demanding. She was just trying to get safe use out of a product that we chose to purchase through this company. CONCLUSION: RICK'S IS NOT THE ONLY GAME IN TOWN. THERE ARE PLENTY OF OTHER PLACES TO FIND OUTDOOR SWING SETS AND FURNITURE. Absolutely horrible customer service. Purchased a shed and the price changed 3 times in the process, then during delivery we discovered they didn't bring the anchors. Called and they said they would bring them the next time they were in town...in three weeks. They never showed up, called and now that sales person no longer works there and I am told the anchors are "extra" and we didn't pay for them. After two bad experiences I will be looking elsewhere for a shed. The first experience resulted in Rick's Sheds entering in my CC number wrong and therefore unable to collect payment for a site survey ($25) and rather than call me back they immediately sent a collection agency to get the money. The second experience was telling them I wanted to purchase a used shed they had in stock, they were suppose to send me an invoice but they recorded my email address and name wrong, then had computer issues, and once I finally got the invoice I was unable to pay as it was after hours and they are closed on Sunday. I emailed them once they were open to say I will be in to sign the invoice and pay. They responded that they will see me later and then when I get there I find out they sold that shed already and I am just out of luck. If maybe they would communicate with each other or myself they would not have sold a shed which they already gave me an invoice (thereby in most eyes reserving for that customer). To sum it up terrible communication, garbage customer service, and I am glad that I didn't end up purchasing the shed as I am sure the bullshit would have continued. First of all, in my review I said not allowing cancellations on custom sheds makes sense, but their should be an exception made when you provide terrible customer service throughout the process. I ordered a trash shed. It's quite a nice looking unit and though we haven't used it yet it appears to be made well enough. It has a design flaw, though: the doors aren't wide enough to accommodate a 32-gallon container. You have to angle and jiggle it in, or lift the can in and out the top, which may not be a simple matter if it's full. I called Rick's Shed and got the most peculiar response -- that they don't go by container size. Well, containers are, as far as I know, 32-, 45-, or 64 gallon, and it doesn't fit the latter two. The 32-gallon FITS once you get it in. But first one woman, and then a second one, just repeated that they don't know about trash can sizes, or openings. I said I'd think it's something you'd know, if you make trash can sheds, and each of them would just repeat, with a kind of weary lack of interest, what they'd just said a moment before. I wasn't asking for compensation or to return the item, just giving feedback, because obviously you'd expect the doors to accommodate the thing it's made to hold inside, and I was left with the impression that they truly couldn't care less. It's not a total disaster but just based on the exchanges I'm not sure I'd be in a big rush to buy from them again. read more

I am sharing my experience in hopes that other people see this before investing there hard earned money with these people. I recently spent around 4K with this business for a new shed. First let me begin when I went to the business it was early August 2018 and I saw the shed I was interested in. I basically went in the store and AJ I'm guessing he is the owner greeted me and assisted me with the showing of the shed? Upon write up of the order we were discussing the options on the shed and the one item really stood out he (AJ) actually pointed it out and that was the 6' wide entry doors I also opted for the ramp which was also 6' wide. Everything seemed to go well so I gave my initial half down payment. Fast forward 2-3 weeks later the shed arrives at my house. Upon initial inspection of the shed it was damaged by a tree branch on the way to my house. I pointed this out to the driver and he said oh we will fix it. I did not buy a damaged shed and should have refused it and told him just to take it back but I figured they are a reputable business and will do the right thing. So the 2 delivery guys start the process of setting the shed on the pad and all they did was argue the whole time directly in front of me (very unprofessional). The shed was finally put in place then they were going to set the ramp in place but the couldn't because the ramp was to wide. Remember I paid for a 6' wide doors and a 6' wide ramp (the ramp was $135.00 by the way total rip-off for 50.00 worth of pressure treated wood). Guess what the ramp was 6' wide but the doors were 5' wide. After realizing that the doors were only 5' wide when they should have been 6' I called and spoke to a Terry. I told her I just want what I paid for and some sort of compensation for the damage to my shed that was done by their delivery driver. She wanted to give me $23.00 for the ramp and $30.00 for the doors and zero compensation for the damage. In my opinion this was a total joke and I told her that I felt this way and I said I was going to write a review about my experience and she just said ok whatever and didn't even care. What kind of customer satisfaction is that. I will never give another dollar of my money to Rick's Sheds ever again and I hope everyone that reads this considers taking there business elsewhere. I was at Rock's looking for patio furnitures. It was the end of the outdoor season so many items were in "clearance". I was looking for cast iron/cast aluminum furnitures and they had quite a lot. Quality is actually good and the price is decent. Not the cheapest but decent if you are looking for patio furnitures we would definitely r commend checking it out. read more

Due to my delayed deck project I wasn't ready to take delivery and Ricks held my furniture with no issue until I was ready. There was an issue with my table when it was delivered however Ricks and the furniture company (Telescope) quickly remedied the problem. The product was excellent and has held up well. Our shed is in great shape after more than 10 years. The customer service is awful. We waited 3 weeks to hear back about a quote for moving the shed (after they had our 50 dollars already). The office staff was very abrupt and dismissive on the phone. They claimed to have called and emailed us during the 3 weeks but there were no messages in our voicemail and no emails in our inbox or junk filter or any of the other folders in our email. To put the cherry on the sundae when we started to shop around for another company to do the move, the other company was 350 dollars cheaper, gave free estimates, called us back the same day, and was able to schedule us within a week of first contact. Wish I had read the Yelp reviews before heading over to Rick's. Poor customer service and a refusal to take responsibility for mistakes pretty much sums up my experience. We headed over to Rick's the Thursday before Memorial Day because we were in the market for a vinyl playset, and Rick's is an authorized distributor for Swing Kingdom. Emmett seemed very helpful as we walked through the three display models, and he told us that there was a 15% off sale going on through Memorial Day. We took home a brochure and price list, chose a base model that was close to what we were looking for (around $3k), and picked out some additions to make the playset our own (around $1k). We then contacted Emmett on Saturday to tell him exactly what we wanted. He told us he wasn't sure they could fit some of our changes into the swingset, so he would have to call the manufacturer to confirm, but as long as we finalized everything by Monday, we would still get our 15% off. We then didn't hear back from Emmett until Monday at 10:30 when he told us our changes were fine and emailed us a quote. This was the first time he also mentioned that we had to have everything finalized by 3pm that day, and not, as we had assumed, by the end of the day. He claimed the manufacturer required all orders to be submitted to them by 3pm (and he later mentioned that, conveniently, Rick's was also closing at 3pm that day). This was a bit of a problem for us because we heading home from the beach when he told us this, and because we have two small children who would need to eat and be put down for naps when we got home. Here's where things got sketchy. When we were finally home and able to turn our attention to Emmett's email, we noticed that he had only applied the 15% discount to the base model playset and not our entire order. That means we were received $0 discount off our $1000 in additions to the model. When we called Emmett to point out this apparent error, he told us for the first time that the discount only applied to base models and not to any additions. Once again, he blamed the manufacturer for this issue. When we pointed out that we would have gotten the bigger discount had he written up the order with a more expensive base model and simply removed the unwanted items (as opposed to the less expensive base model and adding items), he told us he didn't have time to re-write the order before 3pm, and anyway, Rick's was closing and he wasn't about to stay past 3 for us. We asked why he couldn't simply call the manufacturer and tell them he has one final order that he needs to re-write, he had no answer, but did say he would contact the manufacturer the next day to see if they would still honor the price. Two days later without hearing from Emmett, we emailed him and he basically blamed us and the manufacturer (it was clear he hadn't bothered to try calling the manufacturer). The whole ordeal was such a shame. Had Emmett been up front with us in the beginning as to the way in which the discount worked and the timing, or had he been willing to make a single phone call to the manufacturer to ensure he could send in an order late because of his error, we could have avoided the whole situation. Instead, he blamed everyone but himself, and Rick's has lost itself a customer. We are now purchasing the playset from another distributor for roughly the same price. I suspect the owner of Rick's has no idea any of this happened, but evidently this is an ongoing problem at this establishment. read more

I agree on Fuchsia's overall help. Once they get your money, you are on your own if anything needs to be fixed. From my experience, they do not stand behind their product, nor do they go out of their way to ensure you are happy. They purchase from central PA/Amish territory, then truck it in per your specs. I would suggest taking the extra time and heading out towards Lancaster country where most of these sheds come from and buy direct; the shipping charges will still be cheaper overall and I am sure you will get better service in the long term. I wish I went direct to the Amish, the rude Delco attitude is a major disservice - stay away. read more

Before purchasing at Rick's Utility Sheds, may I suggest that you first read my review? I am not what you would call a "reviewer". Actually, I probably reviewed less than five times in my whole life. But I felt compelled to make you aware of what I experienced when dealing with this store. Let me try to state the facts. - We ordered Finch furniture of over $9000 on 4/21 and Mr. E.F. as well as the owner were very helpful and friendly. As a matter of fact, Mr. E.F. (the sales person) helped us to choose the right furniture even the store had just closed at 5 pm. (Note: My wife and I had spent the previous 2-3 hours looking at the furniture and then waiting for Mr. E.F. to free up as he was the individual who had helped us during an earlier visit.) - When I inquired if the furniture be delivered prior to Memorial Day, Mr. E.F. told us that we would get our furniture within 3-4 weeks but definitely before Memorial Day. - We called the store a few days before Memorial Day to inquire on the status of our delivery and were told by a female employee that nothing would be delivered sooner than 5-6 weeks from the date of ordering. No apology was offered but simply that 3-4 weeks was unrealistic to begin with. - On 6/1, I called the store again and managed to talk to Mr. E.F. who informed me that he would reach out to Finch to inquire and would get back to me on 6/4. So far, so good. - Having not heard from Mr. E.F., I called the store again on 6/6 to inquire and left a message with a lady in the store as Mr. E.F. was busy with a customer. I was told that Mr. E.F. would call back the same day. - Having not heard from Mr. E.F. by 3:30 pm on 6/6, I called and did manage to reach him. Here's how the conversation went with Mr. E.F.: He told me that he is not responsible for making sure that the delivery happens in a timely manner as they have a clear notice at the bottom of their invoice that the manufacturer will determine how fast furniture gets shipped. He also told me that the warehouse would call me as soon as it is in. When I asked for a phone number of the warehouse, he told me that they cannot be reached. He also told me that he is the only person in Sales and that, rather than spending time with me on the phone, he could have supported other customers by now. He further told me that he actually did me a favor for staying after close on 4/21 as he could have easily left since he is not paid on commissions (somehow Mr. E.F. does not seem to fully grasp the fact that it is customers such as us that pay his salary and keep the lights on). As I asked him why he did not call me back on Monday 6/4, he said that he cannot follow up on every single call as this is the busiest season of the year. Not once did Mr. E.F. apologize for the delay or the inconveniences but rather told me implicitly to sit tight and wait. In short, if you are looking for extraordinary customer experience, do not go to Rick's Utility Sheds. While they have good quality furniture, they do seem to have a hard time dealing with a busy season! Buy your Finch from another more reputable place! To add, I decided to call Finch that very same day and found out that the furniture were actually delivered to Rick's! It's kind of funny to think that Mr. E.F. could have easily avoided this review by checking with his warehouse! But then again, that would have required someone who is focused on customer service excellence! read more

Really as good as it gets... The staff was so supportive and informed. More than that I changed my mind several times regarding the location and specs and was completely accommodated. My experience far exceeded anything that was available from the corporate do-it-yourself big box stores, it is really nice to work with a small business and buy local. Terrible customer service. We wanted to replace our doors on two sheds with metal doors. Went into the office two times and discussed it with the salesman. They came out and measured. Gave us a quote. Two weeks later they replaced our doors with T-111, not the metal doors we ordered. Nowhere on the quote did it say they would be T-111. We spoke to customer service, the salesman, management - no one would do anything for us. They were extremely rude. Then they said if we wanted metal doors, we needed to pay over $1000 more. Rude, Misinformation, no idea of what customer service is. I initially spoke to Emmett. We were interested in buying a shed but had to make the purchase on a corporate AMEX card as it was for the business. He said that they didnt take AMEX but that they could take PayPal and I could fund that with my AMEX. We narrowed down our choices and called back. They said that we should do a site inspection which was $25 and that would be applied to the cost of the shed. No problem. We did that and went to order the shed only to be told that they can't take PayPal. I asked why and was told "Because we can't". I emailed that I would like someone to explain to me why not since that was the entire first obstacle to my purchase and I would not have gotten down the road with them had that not been cleared first, they stopped responding. I called on the phone, figuring I would have to chalk all the wasted time up to a bad experience. I did however want to get my $25 refunded on the principle since I was no longer able to purchase the shed there due to "misinformation" from them. As soon as I called and identified myself on the phone it was like someone flipped a switch in Emmett. He got very rude. Fushia eventually told me that they were not going to refund the $25 because Emmett said he never told me that. Here is the deal. He totally did. Later after this all hit the fan, he changed it to he said that they said they can take AMEX for site inspections but not for the shed. At that point, we had never even mentioned site inspections. I think he didn't know that they could take it for the inspection but not the shed and screwed up. How about owning up to it? Also, they are daft if they don't realize that refunding that $25 would have been an inexpensive cost of doing business. I purchased a sheds from Rick over 20 years ago. Some of the wood has rotted out over time which is understandable. I decided to have Ricks repair the shed. They quoted me $900.00 for 2 doors and some new wood on the bottom. The carpentry work was very very professionally..but they left the shed two different colors. I called the store to explain that I was not happy they left the shed 1/2 finished. This is where my problem comes in. They informed me that they could come out and paint the upper portion of the shed for $225.00 or they could sell me the paint for $40.00. I am not a unreasonable person..but for $900.00 I would think they could finish the job that way everything looks the same. Not some thing that is 2 different shades of grey. I spoke to the office manager Fusica. This lady has no customer service skills at all. She was very rude to me and would not let me express my problem, she kept talking over me. I could see that this was going nowhere so I asked if I could have Ricks last name that way I could write him a letter about my experience with his company. She told me that she is not allowed to give that information out. I usually like to give any company the benefit of doubt before I give a bad review on YELP. This is the first time I have ever written an online review. Frankly, I wasn't sure I was going to go through with it until I read about other similar experiences. The customer service we received prior to our purchase was quite satisfactory, however, I was very disappointed with many aspects thereafter. We bought a shed that was already completed and sitting on the lot and were hopeful to have it delivered in a timely fashion. It took nearly two weeks for a site inspection that was conducted by a gentleman with a clear language barrier. After the inspection, we were then informed the block/level charge we previously paid on the signed contract, would have to be increased. Strange...since we had the exact same size shed sitting on the exact same location for 25+ years. At any rate, it took almost a month to actually have the shed delivered, and to top everything off - Rick's Sheds charged my credit card TWICE for the balance. I will not be a returning customer and would not recommend Rick's Sheds to anyone else. read more
