Wow. I drove an hour to check out this place because it just looked too good to be true on the internet, and it exceeded my expectations by MILES. This is a fusion restaurant, crossing over hispanic and asian flavors with very unique menu options, and i just had to try a little bit of everything....The Wonton Nachos with their Asian BBQ Pork left me speechless. Beautifully crunchy wontons, delicious and tender pork, and you're really just getting the best of both worlds. I also tried their Mofongo with their signature garlic sauce and it was just spectacular! The bao bun "tacos" were also a hit in my books. I had the churrasco stuffed mofongo and WOW -- absolutely amazing! The flavors were on point, the steak was cooked perfectly, and the mofongo had just the right texture and seasoning. Wow! A coworker told me about their mofungo, and it does not disappoint! Overall, it's a hip little hole in the wall with sizeable portions, fairly quick service, and damn good flavors. I can't say that any of its healthy but damn is it tasty. Moreover, the fusion pairings keep it interesting. There's an interesting crowd at nights due to the nearby package store, but if that sort of thing deters you, they do delivery as well! read more

Not much of a welcoming front of the establishment, and there's the smell of cannabis wafting from its neighbor dispensary as you enter, but once inside is pleasant enough, with friendly service. The pastelón stir fry was tasty but it was more of a deconstructed take on the dish, so don't expect the lasagna layers. The general tso's was also nice and crunchy. If you order sweet plaintains as a side dish, they serve you enough to feed plaintains to a whole table. Overall, this is a decent place, but didn't wow in flavors or looks to necessarily to stand out among whatever your favorite latin or asian fusion places may be. I was glad to try it but I would probably explore other places if I come around New London again. read more

I'm not from the area and after a Costco run, I found this place on the map. It's in a tiny strip off the highway, and once we entered we were immediately greeted by a worker. She was nice and let us know that their system is down and they can only take cash - no problem. We walked two doors down to Cheers Deli Grocery and used their ATM to pull some cash. We ordered the General Tso and Boneless Spare Ribs. They were both pretty good but was a little bit on the saltier side. I loved how the fried rice actually had chunks of scrambled egg and that there was bean sprouts. All it all, it was a nice meal and we would come again, but would appreciate if they cranked up the AC. It was as over 95 degrees out today and the restaurant was probably in the 80's and we were both sweating and uncomfortable. Combining Chinese and Korean staples such as Fried Rice and Bulgolgi with Puerto Rican dishes results in a fantastic combination of flavor. The meal I had was Crispy Fried Chicken on a bed of fries with a side order of Mofongo. The chicken were small pieces of chicken that was cooked to perfection with a tomato based dipping sauce. In my opinion though the star was the Mofongo. It was the right consistency - chunky with pieces of plantains and not overly seasoned. took one bite of the Crab Rangoon and immediately called them (I legitimately needed the staff to know how amazing my order was). I didn't catch the friendly women's name that picked up the phone. I work at a small family owed sandwich shop, BOH and FOH its extremely hard work. So when a customer calls the restaurant regarding their recent order... You're immediately are like...uh oh. She didn't skip a beat, so professional. The Crab Rangoon was out of this world, along with the veggie spring rolls. Usually, anything fried ends up soggy by the time you eat it. Not at Rico Chow! When I say everything shows up hot, crispy, and not greasy at all...i speak the truth! I also ordered the wonton soup, and it's the best I've ever had. Lastly, I had the boneless spareribs with the house fried rice, which are also crazy good. Anyone who leaves a negative review for Rico Chow obviously (is a Karen...) and has no idea what food made with love tastes like. As you scroll through the reviews, almost all are 5 stars. The place was clean, and lady at the counter was very pleasant. The food took a bit but it expected when you order Mofongo. I did noticed many people waiting for orders for a long time and asking for an update a lot. So order with enough time if picking up. I tried to eat in but the place was freezing and couldn't take my coat off so I left fast. I didn't finish my food. I only ordered Mofongo and shrimp. I have to agree that it was very bland. I had to add salt. It wasn't BAD but just not much flavor. The egg rolls: I was a bit surprised that it was all meat and no veggies. No grease on them which is good. But also not much flavor. Rico Chow is an amazing refreshing food establishment in New London offering Asian/Spanish fusion cuisine. It's super friendly and talented head chef David often leaves the kitchen to check on patrons and ask "How is everything?" his style of food is unique and flavorful and always leaves me craving more. It is a small restaurant, but plenty of tables to sit down and grab a bite. The self serve atmosphere is nice and the food always comes out super fast hot and fresh. We ordered from Rico Chow for the first time last night. There were 7 of us and we also ordered some appetizers, so our order was very large. The food was ready exactly when promised, they got EVERYTHING in the order (surprising for such a large order) and when we started eating, we were blown away. The orange chicken, sweet and sour chicken, pepper and onion with beef, green bowl, general tso chicken and Lo mein were all fantastic. The Tripleta fries will have my husband coming back as often as I'll let him. Lol. And we tried tostones and mofongo for the first time - and we will definitely order them again. And aside from the outstanding food, which is obviously homemade with love, the people here are delightful. I can't recommend this place highly enough! read more

I have been waiting for this restaurant to open and finally got my opportunity to go! While I love the concept and the idea for this restaurant, it is not my favorite (just yet). They have just opened, so I definitely will be back to give it a second shot, but on the first try I felt like the food was just a bit bland, and lacked the seasoning I expected to taste. I had the carnita fried rice, and while the pork and rice were cooked perfectly, I was just hoping for a bit more seasoning! I also had a side of plantains and those were perfectly cooked, but next time I will see if they have the mayochup to dip in to go along with them. Today I ordered lunch for 45 people for a Back-to-School event at New London Adult Education. The order consisted of pulled pork nachos and fried rice with chicken. David the manager/owner was patient in explaining the ingredients of each dish, size of the trays, etc. The food was cooked perfectly, just enough spices, and the portions were huge! Figured I'd wait until after my 2nd visit. What stands out most is the fresh ingredients and fusion combos. They take Puerto Rican familiar favorites and combine with some Asian-American staples. I'll keep making my way through the menu but highlights so far have been Pastelon stir-fry, mofongo (nice and moist) and love their take on crab Rangoons.
