Came here for my brother's birthday and it was a wonderful experience. The restaurant itself has a warm, beautiful ambience with two sides for dining one near the sushi bar. The sushi we got was really fresh and fantastic. I got the orange chicken as an entrée and it was very crispy and the chicken meat was good inside. I also got a lychee martini, which kinda has a melon/passionfruit kind of flavoring to it if you're not familiar with lychee. We got the Bamba for dessert. I'm not usually a fan of peanut butter, but this one was really good. The weight staff was super nice and attentive the whole time, it was also very sweet that at the end of our meal they brought out a small gift for my brother to unwrap now my brother and his wife come to this restaurant often so I thought maybe this was just something they were doing because they knew them but when asked, they said that they do this for all the customers and I thought that was the coolest thing. My brother ended up opening up a car phone mount which was very practical and useful and something he actually needed. Overall, this place was definitely a 10 out of 10 will be coming back for sure. We have come to mystic CT twice and both times came here for some of our meals. The food never disappoints; its fresh and packing with flavor. My kids loved the avocado and shrimp tempura rolls, which they both add so fast. My wife enjoys her scallops and ordered the scallon in black bean sauce. She said the scallop is fresh and tastes sweet. Couldn't help it but I did steal some of scallop and can confirm it was fresh and sweet. For a lunch special we ordered general tso and sesame chicken which were both crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside, and coated with a generous amount of sauce. The lunch special comes with a choice of soup. My kids chose the egg drop soup and I chose the hot and sour soup. Both soups were good. Why not 5 star? I thought the bathroom could use some improvement? At first my wife said it smelled like poop, and I really thought it was just her thinking that. Keep in mind that its 2 bathrooms, one for the ladies and one for the gents. When I stepped into the restroom for men, I immediately was overtaken by the smell of poop. They need to improve their ventilation system and also put in some air freshener. If it weren't for the bathroom issue, I'd definitely rate this place 5 stars. We love this place! It has become a tradition to take my cousin here for her birthday. They do such a great job for birthdays! The menu is wonderful and there is something for everyone. The food is delicious and fresh. The portions are generous, and the presentation of the food is very creative. We tried the chicken tempura, birds nest, and hibachi. All huge portions and very delicious. The wait staff is amazing, attentive and very friendly. The restaurant itself is very spacious and very accommodating . We have a son with special needs who needs to stay in a stroller due to being on oxygen, and they were very welcoming to us and arrange tables in such a way as to make sure we were all comfortable. read more

Traveling down I95 late around 9:30pm and after a look into the area I was fortunate to find Peking Tokyo open late and boasting an impressive menu selection. I was greeted by welcoming staff and an inviting atmosphere when I arrived. The sushi bar was just closing up but the staff assured me they would still be happy to accommodate my order. I ordered the Sashimi Deluxe 18 which came with soup & salad, 2 orders or the Ōtoro sashimi and a bottle of lychee sake. The staff was also kind enough to bring me one of their Seafood Special hand rolls to try which was made of a tasty tempura style seafood mix. Wonderful staffing and atmosphere aside the sashimi was fresh and of good texture, I was not blown away by the quality of the Ōtoro or the freshness of the ginger for a restaurant offering such a of the selection of specialty sushi items. Overall I was left feeling pleased, well fed and happy with the experience I had at Peking Tokyo. Great staff 7.2/10, well worth another visit during more conventional dinning hours to give the menu a better sampling. read more

Located in a strip mall across the street from the Hilton. The five of us dropped in for dinner recently on our New England fall foliage organized guided tour. We were seated immediately. Water brought to the table. They offer an extensive menu. Japanese and Chinese cuisine. Then it became a waiting game. We waited for the order taker. We waited for our various orders. We waited for our check. Part of the reason had to do with what was ordered. We all went with Japanese food. Hubby & BIL both ordered sushi and sashimi platters. There's only so many sushi chefs. We all started off with miso soup and salad with miso dressing that came with our meals. I ordered the unagi don. Six very thinly sliced unagi over rice. I'm accustomed to an unagi filet. I ate slowly so my stomach could tell my brain I was full in 20 minutes. Daughter ordered the bento. Plenty of food. She got chicken teriyaki, tempura, and California roll. She liked everything. Hubby's sushi sashimi platter had a nice presentation. He enjoyed his food. If I were a local I'd have higher expectations but as a tourist the food was adequate and service could be improved. read more

Had lunch at Peking Tokyo. Tasty miso soup with mushrooms, gorgeous tuna dumpling which was a original concept on a dumpling made of sushi (I didn't read closely enough and expected dumplings.) All the standard sushi fare seems serviceable -- my kids enjoyed -- and the Peking duck was delicious as I had hoped. Kind service. Facility is definitely showing wear -- and I wish there was a lunch menu. All in all - solid. I'm between 3 or 4 stars but I am going to round up -- our waitress made home made chopsticks with a rubber band for the kids ... that kind of care means something. read more

What are you thinking; it cannot even be picked up!?! Plus it does not come with any peanut sauce. My sushi pieces were very tiny and not worth the price. And the pad thai... really, it had no flavor, no veggies or peanut/nutty flavor. It was so bland and uneventful in your mouth. This restaurant is tucked in the corner of a strip mall. It is bigger inside than expected. The sushi prices are not listed on the menu. The meal prices are pretty average compared to other similar places. They have a huge menu with lots of variety to pick from. The sushi was good but fell apart very easily. I had the kobe beef one with mushrooms that was amazing - not really sushi but still very good. The green roll was even better. We shared a handful of desserts that were all good but nothing great. My mango mai tai was awful - all you could taste was cheap bitter alcohol - not the way it has ever tasted anywhere else! The service was incredibly slow, and they were not very busy. We weren't in a rush, but it still took way too long to get our meals, and our waitress was nowhere to be found most of the time. read more

This dark sushi joint is nestled in the back of the plaza on Coogan Boulevard - & is currently hidden under scaffolding & construction. They make good quality sushi here & the staff is friendly ... But goodness gracious it is expensive. My go-to order (spicy tuna roll, cucumber & avocado roll, & miso soup) will run me $23. They do 6 rolls per order, which I think is pretty standard. So, almost $30 (after tip) for 12 little rolls & one small soup stings a little bit. I understand it's Mystic, but dang. They also put mushrooms in their miso soup. I don't mind this at all - I like mushrooms! But I think that's a little uncommon? I could be wrong. So heads up for all of the mushroom-dislikers out there. Solid 4/5 stars. read more

Every time I travel to the NLON area for work, I make it a point to eat here at least once a trip. The food is always great! I prefer the sushi but have had several of their other dishes and everything always tasted very good. The service is also always very good and they always make sure drinks are topped off and that the food came out as expected. read more

Lycheetini - Was surprisingly good; I'm usually not one to drink alcohol with my dinner, but mine was a good balance between tasting the Vodka & Lychee! Dragon & Phoenix - Was not what I was expecting; this dish consisted of 1/2 General Tso & 1/2 Shrimp/Vegetables. The General Tso was yummy, however the Shrimp & Veggies were a bit bland. Schezuan Chicken Dumplings - Were very peanut-y & a lot spicier than I expected them to be! This was a really tasty appetizer, but I would say did not have much of the chicken :( It was really good though! Crab Wontons - Never disappoint, but they were a bit cold when they served them to us! My friend ordered a variety of Sushi (King Crab, Tyler Roll, and Spicy Crab) and her feedback was that they were pretty average! The only caution we would both give is that their special rolls were a bit pricey ($20-$25), but unfortunately the prices weren't on the menu; I'm not sure if these vary throughout the week though! read more

Cane for dinner on New Years Eve. Arrived at 3:50pm. Sat at the bar. Restaurant was mostly empty with a few tables here and there. Ordered. Got out appetizer about 45 minutes later and never received our dinners. At 6:10 pm, with no dinner and noticing the restaurant was full with many tables behind us with meals, we decided to leave. We ordered dumplings from the specials menu - pork and scallion. I don't know how it happened but the meat inside the dumpling was raw. Raw pork. We did not know until we had each already had one. We asked the waitress to ask the chef if we were mistaken? Maybe it was something else? Nope. Raw pork. We were terrified for days we'd get very ill. I was upset that the waitress asked if we wanted another one? She took it off the bill and apologized of course, and it was not her fault. We received no apology from the chef or the manager so we decided to leave. As we waited for our check, one of the chefs came and sat behind us a slurped soup so loudly, it was very rude. It just felt like they really did not care about their customers. I like their sushi but unfortunately I cannot ever go back. read more

Me and my girlfriend are sushi connoisseurs we've had sushi all over the world, Thailand, Bali, New York City, Miami you name it all over Connecticut, Fairfield county, etc. and this is in contention of some of the best sushi we've ever had definitely the best in the New London county it's always busy and that's a product of how good their food is service is always on point and on top of that they hibachi is great with their general sauce chicken being one of the best I've ever had. EDITED: We returned a second time to request a correction and the manager and owner both apologized repeatedly for the error of double charging our card. They reimbursed the charged amount and threw in a gift certificate for goodwill While the food here is usually good, watch your credit card statements closely. We were charged twice on the same night, and when we went back for a correction, we were told the second charge had been voided out, but it might take a couple of days to appear on our bank statement. It has been 11 days and still no correction has been made. I can't revisit a business that treats their customers this dishonestly. read more

In general, I find the food to be pretty decent. Not mind-blowing by any means, but it's good. The best thing I've had there is the seafood pan-fried noodles. For $28 you get a whole lobster and a bunch of other seafood goodness served over pan-fried noodles. read more

I am an avid sushi lover, and have been to most places around this area. Sushi here is some of the best around! Fresh fish and yummy flavors. They have a large variety of speciality rolls to choose from. There menu aside from sushi is also large with a great variety to choose from for those who don't like sushi. From popular Chinese and Japanese dishes, to thai food! I really appreciate the variety. And even with the variety, the quality does not disappoint! It is great across the board. We have been here a handful of times. The last 2 times, the service has been a bit slow, adding about an extra 30 minutes to our total dinner time. But staff has always been kind. read more
