I recently moved home from another state, and finding a competent gunsmith was tough as all the "Old Timers" I once did business with were either dead or retired. I took a chance with a minor job with Ricochet. I am assuming this business is under new ownership / management. I had inherited a custom rifle in a wildcat cartridge, and I needed a chamber cast to verify the chamber dimensions. I dropped the rifle off last summer and was told it would be about 6 weeks for them to get at it. Sure enough, the job was done in the specified time. I was even given a Veterans discount. Why only a 4 star rating? This job was fairly straightforward and simple, nothing to bring out the "Wow Factor". But I would be comfortable returning with a more in depth job in the future, such as a rifle build. read more

I had a Beretta and it had a very tight trigger, so I brought it in. Left it there about 4-5 weeks to make the trigger easier to pull for me. They charged 150.00 (!) and fixed it a little but not all the way. Wish I would have looked around a little more. read more

I see Mark hasn't changed a bit since COVID (the last review). Well, it's 2024 and COVID is well past, but Mark's the same. Talked to Mark at the spring gun show in Billings. We discussed what I wanted done and he said it should be 2 to 3 weeks. So I dropped it off at his NEW location the end of May - he suggested I wait until after his move, so I did. At that time he said it would take 5 to 8 weeks - no problem, I understand things change and in the spring it would be understandable that he got busy. 13 weeks later I called and asked if were done and had I just missed the phone call? No, he hadn't started - didn't even know which gun or me but since he didn't have an invoice it wasn't done - but he assured me he would be starting 'soon'. No word after 5 additional weeks so I went in and got it. Talk about keystone cops. They didn't know where the rifle was and had to look - finally found it on a someone's bench, that they were going to start 'soon'. I told him I'd just take it since they hadn't done anything the whole summer. Then he tells me he ordered the trigger I wanted installed 'just a day or so ago'. What is that????? He's had it all summer, after assuring it would be 2 or 3 weeks and hasn't even ordered the trigger yet? Today's Friday - I'll order one myself and have it middle of next week and just install it myself. BTW - it's the beginning of October, hunting season is here and I don't have time to work up loads now. When I dropped it off I even told Mark 8 weeks is cool - that would be beginning of August and plenty of time to work up loads. Now to finish the story, at this last show I asked around to other smiths and one guy recommended Mark. I told him my story as outlined above. He response is he's heard that from a lot of guys. Mark, you really need a better business model. If you can't deliver in the time YOU stated, then either tell people the actual time or be honest and tell them it'll be 'next year or so' - some of us would have moved on with NO hard feelings. But as it stands I'll never drop off another rifle to your shop and will not be shy about voicing my opinion. You likely don't care Mark, but the word will get around. Surprised you can get anyone to work for you with such poor customer service - or lack of. And Mark, you will meet me again - at the next show when I hang around your table and tell people to check your reviews on line before committing. At least these reviews are honest. We had a shotgun that the pump was jammed due to misalignment of the hammer. The problem was solved in minutes by the young man at Ricochet. They were extremely efficient, very kind and fixed our issue in less than 5 minutes! I would recommend these guys if you have ANY firearms issues and/or want to have a custom gun built! September 3, 2020 I called Rickchet Custom Firearms And Gunsmith LLC and spoke to Mark about getting a wooden stock put on my son's 270. Mark said he was going to site in a rifle, but his guys would be there and we could drop the rifle with them. The same day we dropped the rifle and were told they would get a stock ordered and it would be about two weeks to get it finished. October 6, 2020 I received a call from Mark asking what he was he was supposed to be doing with the gun and I told him that his employees said they were ordering a wooden stock and it was supposed to be done a couple of weeks after we drop it off. He preceded to let me know that he had to fire all of his guys for not doing their jobs. He assured me that he would get a stock ordered asap and get done asap. October 29, 2020 I hadn't heard back from Mark and since it had been 3 weeks, I called to get a update on my son's rifle. When he answered I let him know who I was and asked about the the status of the 270 I brought in in September. He got a bad attitude right off the bat and said he was closed because of covid (how am I supposed to know that). I asked why he was closed since other similar business were open and asked when the gun would be done since he's had it since the beginning of September and he preceded to tell me that "Sh** happens" and hung upon me - What a thing to say to a customer. By this time I was agitated and loud, I called and asked if he was at the shop and I could just come get my gun. He said he was there so I asked if I could come get it or if I need to get a police escort to come get it. He hung up on me again. The third time my wife called and right away he was yelling and she let him was talking to her and not me and she asked if he was at the shop if she could come get the gun. He let her had been sick with covid and she asked if he was letting his customers know that its taking longer since it's been over a month that it was supposed to be done. He asked her if she would call over 200 customers if she was sick and she said she would text or called if it was her business He then told her that he could probably have it done tomorrow since he was planning on going back to work tomorrow and she asked if we could come get it and he preceded to tell her he didn't care what she did and said that at this point he was going to throw it in the snowbank and we could come get it. Again she asked if we could come get it and he said yes and they hung up. A few seconds later he called back and said that we could come get it tomorrow because he wasn't getting dressed when he wasn't feeling good. Today my wife and son when to pick up the gun. They let Mark they were picking up a gun and he asked the name and they gave him my name. He looked the tag off it and handed to my son and said "Good luck finding a stock for that gun because they don't make stocks for that gun anymore" (eventhough he could said he could have it done the next day when my wife talked to him yesterday). As they were putting the gun in the case, he came out the garage and he looked at my son and told him he didn't have to be such an a** hole on the phone yesterday. My son looks him and asked him if he knew who he was talking to and my wife preceded to let him know that he was talking his dad yesterday. My son told him that he better know he's talking to before he talks to his customers like that and wished him good luck with with business and he told them to get in the truck and leave, which they did. What a way to run a business, we will definitely let everyone we know not to do business with him, especially where he threatens to throw the gun in a snowbank because we are asking for our property back since he was unable to do was promised. read more
