Despite this being not too far from me, I have embarrassingly not been here before this past month-- both times were due to school event planning meetings with other moms who live closer to this area. First time was on a Friday evening in mid-May and since I was on a dry month did not drink but got a half order of the cheese knots (3) w/ their housemade cheese sauce. It's actually from the Drumlin pub menu (next door) and made by Kaffeeklatsch bakery on Lake City Way. The second time was on a Wednesday afternoon in mid-June. This time I did drink a couple of glasses of sparkling rose wine. Food-wise, this was dinnertime and I ordered a RIDGECREST sandwich, ($10; Grilled cheese with provolone, cheddar, mozzarella on Kaffeeklatsch sourdough) and did a side sub of soup (+$4; Tomato soup- Like marinara, with tomatoes, cashew cream, oat milk, optional parmesan cheese) Food was basic pub food, but I love the neighborhood casual vibe. I peeked at their food truck lineup on the website, which somehow I missed both times I came here and it looks impressive. During my recent visit on a soggy Saturday evening the place was full to the brim with people (and even a few dogs) enjoying tasty pints and a Mexi-Cuban food truck parked outside. No, the Ridgecrest doesn't have food, but their rotation of food trucks is on point (check out their website link on Yelp for all the deets) and would definitely be a reason to keep going back. There's seating inside and out, and it's self-service so be ready for a line at the bar if they're busy. The Ridgecrest Public House has ample beers and ciders on tap with an interesting selection of cocktails as well that are wine or beer based. I came here with a group of friends having reserved one of the outdoor dining tables near a heater. The heater was nice and powerful and kept us cozy even after the sun set and the temperatures dropped. I was completely impressed with our server as she appeared to be the only person actively working. Every once in awhile another employee would emerge but I wasn't sure what his role was as he would help one specific table and no one else while the lady was taking care of the five groups inside and the three groups, including us, outside. She was a machine! I didn't begrudge not being checked on regularly as I was surprised she had time to check at all! The cider flight was a lot of fun, good price point, and a variety of flavors. There was a food truck outside but opted for the grilled cheese and tomato soup. I have had better but for the price point it was fine - not especially cheesy but still balanced. This is a cozy place I stop off at frequently on my way too and from the cheap movies next door. At times parking can be challenging, but there are always spots to be found in the neighborhood. I occasionally make it here just to enjoy a beer and check out the food truck. I am so thankful they have had Plum Bistro lately as it's great to have some vegan options. I've also enjoyed Anchor End Pretzels in the past. They have a food truck most nights, which is great because there are really no other food options nearby and sometimes I don't want to eat popcorn for dinner. I always make it a point to check out what the food truck option is whenever I decide to head out to the movies. As a beer lover I appreciate a place with a lot of variety, and here they have 18 beers on tap. I am always able to find something new and unique that appeals to me. The way they list it on the wall is always helpful too, especially if you kind of know what you are looking for and don't want to read the whole board. The flights always sound fun too. They also have cider and wine if that is more your thing. At times it can be crowded, but there is an outdoor area that is great in the summer. I appreciate that this place is 21 plus and that dogs are only allowed out front. I've seen lots of great artwork posted here and the service is always fast and friendly. One day I hope to check out the running group that meets here. read more

First visit to Ridgecrest Public House and was primarily there to check out the food truck they were hosting, CheBogz Filipino Food Truck from Federal Way. That's a long haul to Shoreline! However, I was pleasantly surprised with the interior, well patronized pub with folks at the counter, large party at a mass table, as well as, singles and pairs. The bartender in particular was very friendly and well versed in products served. The Sea Cider Wolf in the Woods was well received. Nice that they host a variety of food trucks and allow outside food to be consumed onsite. They provide a calendar so you can try a variety or follow a favorite. Even saw someone come in with a box of Jimmy John sammies. Variety of beer, wine, ciders, and soda available. Bummer there was no Rachel's Ginger Beer during my visit, but that a minor blip. Nice find in Shoreline's Ridgecrest neighborhood, diagonal from Cafe Aroma and around the corner from the Crest movie theater. read more

Stopped by on a Friday night for a beverage before seeing a movie at the nearby Crest Theater. They had a wide selection on tap, and the beers I sampled were very good. My wife also enjoyed her cider. It's a pretty small little place that was very busy but they do come by your table to see about refills. It's getting to the point now where neighborhoods are so densely packed, and the idea of a truly local watering hole is so popular, that it's almost surprising when another neighborhood pops up that answers its need for a new pub--because you didn't know there even WERE any neighborhoods left that still needed a pub. Ridgecrest instantly seems like a great addition to the spot it's in, even though it's kinda surprising there wasn't already a cool casual neighborhood joint around here. Well, now there is. Starting with the allusion in the name, this place makes it clear that it's handy to have around--they're right down the block from the Crest Theater, and it's a perfect combination in one spot. You can have a good beer, help yourself to the nightly food truck, and catch a cheap movie. Was there really not a bar here before, for all this time? If there was, I must not have wanted to go in, because I've seen countless dozens of movies at the Crest through the years. The Ridgecrest barely seems to be there, at least from the outside. There's a bit of lettering on the door, and that's about it. Yeah, there's most likely a food truck parked out front, and probably a pretty good one. But this is one of those old drab commercial buildings with multiple spaces along the block, and you're used to driving right by them without paying much attention. Inside, though, it's nice. Newly constructed bar, solid booths, small scattering of tables, some stuffed furniture in back near the gas fireplace. They specialize in beer, and the main thing you see when you walk in is a hand-chalked list of interesting beers, mostly from Seattle breweries, too. That's pretty cool. I can remember thinking years ago that opening a sixth brewery in this town would over-saturate the market, and now we have so many that bars can almost build a whole rotation (at least for a while) off mainly in-town breweries. What a healthy scene. The prices are fair, lines are clean, service is friendly, and selection is good. All the basics are covered for a good corner gathering spot. No shuffleboard or pinball or video games, I don't think I even saw a TV. Some quiet music I think. It's friendly and nice and low-key. You should relax and have yourself some suds. read more

I've never been one to feel that yelp is the necessary place to ruin s business. Because it is not. I work in the hospitality business and I am one who hates yelp as much as everyone else. But this was one experience that left me more than sour. I have always loved Ridgecrest. I'm a local. I don't visit often enough but it is a neighborhood local stop that I simply adore because 1. I love beer. 2. It's 7 mins walk from my house and 3. It has a patio that my giant furry animal can hang out at. However, today was a different unfortunate story. It was my day off and I thought it would be a good day to hang out, grab a beer and hang out with my dawg! So I brought my puppy up to spend my one day off. When I brought Zeus up, I tied him to the outdoor patio and headed inside to grab a beer. Then we proceeded to hang out for awhile outside saying hi to every patron entering the bar. At one point, I went back in to get another drink. The bartender on shift looked at me very upset and asked "Can you please get your dog off the table?" 1. I was in the bar getting a drink from her so it's not sas though I was encouraging that behavior. No need for that attitude. 2. Some bar patrons were saying hello to my dog and didn't know he should not be on a table. 3, YOU DON'T SERVE FOOD. HE WAS NOT BOTHERING ANYONE. 4. It was FIRST WARNING. Why were you so rude? I work in the industry and I get it, sometimes you just have your day or moment. So I gave it to her. Even after another customer at the bar turned around and gave me the "she's just having a day" look. Then not too long after, another moment happened. I was still outside hanging out with my puppy, whom hasn't made a single noise or issue the entire time of my stay. A customer came out after getting his drink and food sitting down right next to us so he could show my puppy some love and bring up small talks. We were having a great time, no problem whatsoever. And to put it out there, if my pup was bothering people or aggressive whatsoever, I would brought him home immediately. I am not one of those owners who let's him terrorize his environment. Plus, he's the sweetest thing in the world. All customers there can vouch that my puppy did no harm to them. At one point this bartender came outside to collect glasses on the tables. The gentleman who was sitting by me having conversation simply sat by me to ask about my puppy as he was having his meal. My dog was upright doing his puppy begging thing but not over the top because the gentleman never complained about it. The bartender looked at me and said "Please don't let your dog bother other customers". At that point, I was so livid because I did not understand what her fucking problem was. Not only no one complained to her about my dog, she was constantly giving me attitude left and right for no reason, which soured my mood so much I had to leave. Keep this in mind, I have NEVER had an issue here. Then again I have never seen her until today. I truly and honestly have no problem here except for her. I work in the industry, I understand sometimes you have your moment. However, you don't have to be a B* for no reason. My question is - "do you have a problem with dogs?" "Or me?" Sitting in the Ridgecrest Public House I am reminded of a Pacific Northwest version of a small neighborhood bars all around other cities. It has a great selection of beer, ales, and ciders along with a ginger beer special. The staff is extremely pleasant and greet you with a warm smile. In some ways it's only downside, the lack of food, is a benefit as they often have food trucks parked outside. I like it when bars go this route since it offers a better variety and quality of food that you don't get in other bars. Tonight's truck was Don Lucho's sandwich truck(http://donluchosinseattle.com) which was fantastic. The one cool feature of the bar that wasn't obvious from the start was the board that shows the order being served in the truck outside. read more

We went to this new taphouse in Shoreline last night. Our friends invited us and let us know they had a taco truck out front. We ordered tacos and went in. We got a couple of long tables and ordered at the bar. They have a wide variety of beers and maybe 6 ciders. The ambiance is stark and clean but not in a sterile way. Later in the evening they turned down the lights. The service was nice and thank goodness for my beer because that taco truck serves some SPICY tacos! Wooh. Check this place out. There's something wonderful in the air that breaks me out of my comfort zone and makes feel a part of the community. Every bar should copy their tidy way of presenting their beer offerings grouped into sections such as bitter, malty, dark, etc. Nice food trucks outside and in a quiet area in Shoreline near the Crest makes it a very pleasant place to visit before or after a movie or on the way home from work. Wanted to try this place, as I drove by and saw the Oskar's pizza truck outside. The pizza truck inspires my desire for pizza, so had to come in. This is first time at Ridgecrest Public House and my first impression is it is welcoming. As I entered, there was one couple in front of me. This couple had a myriad of questions about every offering on the menu. How was it prepared, where did the food originate at, the differences in wine and beer. Although I was hungry, I admired the patience and explanations to this couple; their simple order took at least 15 minutes of detailed answers while I waited. Ordered white wine and tomato soup, when it was my turn. Very friendly cashier, who told me my wait time for my soup. Got my Sauvignon Blanc quickly and went outside to get my pizza slice. Oskars has a NY style floppy pizza, with a good thin crust. about ten minutes later, my Ridgecrest tomato soup with grilled bread arrived. My tomato soup was slightly bland. I prefer a punch of flavor in my tomato soup, but dipping pizza into into was a great combo. Great atmosphere, but you are on your own here, no fawning waiters after you order at the counter. I'm not complaining, just notifying you it is more of a self service place. Not a lot of interaction between patrons, more of a individual party feel. Good food, good service are the standouts here. Bring your own social interaction, not a lot after your order. Would love to hear some live music here, think it would add to the atmosphere. read more

This is a perfect place to enjoy some beer after watching a movie at the Landmark Crest movie theater located a block away. I live within walking distance of this place and it's been an awesome addition to the neighborhood! Friendly owners, good beer, cozy atmosphere. Beer - Very yummy and the taps are on rotation. They have a beer for everyone, from the hops-lover to the pilsner-lover. They have a couple of wines, and they usually have hard cider as well! The beer is always good, and pretty inexpensive too. Food - The bar doesn't have much in the way of food (a few snacks is all). Instead they encourage you to bring food in from outside - in particular, there's a food truck in front of the bar most nights. Not sure why this 21+ bar is so bright?! It's just a great mystery why they feel they need to light it up like an ice cream parlor - but the establishment is for adults! Do they not understand that if they create a nice, mellow, (not bright) atmosphere that their guests will be more relaxed, stay longer, and order more stuff??? I got the Beardslee Sasquatch CDA after I initially did not notice it! I tried a sampler at the Beardslee Public House/restaurant a week prior and enjoyed it. It's darker than I normally like, but it was tasty. The lady ordered the hopped pear cider from Niegel Vintners and it was pretty good. They had a food truck in the front of the pub as well if you get hungry. Seoul Kitchen was cookin. Smelled so good... For those that care, definitely an older crowd, but everyone is there to have a drink and to have a good time so it doesn't really matter now, does it? :) read more

My partner and I moved to the neighborhood in September 2020. We wanted to pay a visit to the pub for the first time today as well as support local business during the pandemic. We arrived at the pub around 3:45PM. We ordered our drinks at the bar in Drumlin (RPH was not open due to lack of outdoor seating) and proceeded to the back patio to get a table. The back patio consists of 4 heated booths and a non-heated area of several tables. There were only 2 heated booths occupied when we arrived, so we seated ourselves in one of the other 2 empty heated booths. Everything went great until we ordered our second drinks. "I'd like to have the same thing, lager from Stiegl Brewery, please," my partner said. "Currently we don't have lager from Stiegl. What you were having must be the lager next to it on the menu/tap," the sophisticated, seasoned bartender/server responded. "The younger bartender/server poured a non-Stiegl Brewery lager unintentionally," we thought to ourselves. "Oh well, I'll have that then, whatever lager it is," my partner said because he indeed liked the unknown lager. On the other hand, after I had Chuckanut pilsner which kicked off my evening at the pub on a high note (since Chuckanut pilsner is one of my all-time favorites), I ordered a nitro Mocha Porter, just to be adventurous, and ended up loving it! I attempted to order another nitro Mocha Porter from the younger bartender/server but what I ended up having was a non-nitro porter. I discussed with my partner because I was uncertain if I should tell the younger bartender to switch the porter. I eventually decided not to since it seemed like she had a lot on her plate and the non-nitro porter tasted decent to me. "A mistake which I could choose to ignore," I thought. All was still good and we were still having a good time until it was later when we finally ordered food from the food truck around 5:10PM (as recommended by the pub) and received and ate the food by 6PM. Around 6:15PM, the young bartender/server came to put a reservation sign on our table and tell us we needed to leave the table by 6:30PM because someone had reserved it. Around this time, the non-heated area was quite empty (only 1 table was taken) and customers from the 2 heated booths next to ours left shosrtly after she put down the sign. We were confounded by the fact that our table was "chosen." "Was it because we had been here for a bit more than 2 hours? It must not be because we had been ordering drinks this whole time and there were lots of empty tables," my partner and I tried to rationalize the situation. While feeling uneasy, we went to order one more beer and closed our tab because we did not want to have to sit in the non-heated area as it was getting colder out there. Out of frustration, I went to the bar to ask the young bartender/server if we could move to one of the heated booths next to us since they were empty. The young bartender/server said, "oh, are those booths open now? I will go check it out back there." The young bartender/server was filling other customers' orders, so I went back to our booth, which only had 10 minutes availability for us at the moment. As I went to the back, I realized that the two booths next to us that were empty had now been filled with people. When the young bartender/server came to our booth, I asked if there was a reason why our particular booth was reserved at the time when other booths were available. "Typically, we only have people sitting in the booth for no longer than one and a half hours, depending on if we are busy," the younger bartender/server responded. "Since the group that made the reservation already took the booth next to you, you can finish your drinks in your booth," she continued. After she left, these are the thoughts screaming in my head: Of course we are going to finish our drinks at the booth since it wasn't even 6:30PM yet and we paid for our drinks. Of course I was upset by this entire situation because no one told us about the reservation until 15 minutes before the reserved time and no one informed us about the time limit for drinking at this pub. Of course it was my first time to be in a pub where a bartender put a time limit for my time there while my partner and I had been ordering the whole time we were there. Of course I felt disrespected and called out when the back patio was NOT busy and had ample seating. While the drinks we got to have this evening were from a smart, tasteful selection, the service frustrated me. I would be totally understanding if we were told in the very beginning that there was a reservation made for 6:30PM for OUR table and that there was a limit for how much time we could spend drinking in a heated booth at the pub. I regret having to post this review because it was my first time feeling this awful as a customer in a restaurant/pub. I sincerely hope this can be addressed by the owner of the two joints and this will not happen to future customers at the pub. read more
