They send my savings passbook account to unclaimed funds since 2006 and I still have not been able to retrieve my $2000 plus dollars back form from them or unclaimed funds who can't find it and Ridgewood can't find proof that they sent it in writing just telling me that's what probably happened since I didn't bring book in for interest update ! So way to go thief's for keeping my money plus not having to pay the interest accumulated over the years! Not rich really didn't have $2000 plus to lose this way ! My brother, sister and I are all former employees of RSB. Recently, it was clear that one of our parents needed help with finances. I brought all significant documents to the Associate Manager, Celik A. He took copies of the documentation and advised he would submit to RSB's legal department. I was surprised when I received a call from Celik that evening indicating that the documents were in order and we scheduled a date to fill out the required bank documents. I spoke to a neighbor regarding my experience and was asked "did you speak with Celik?" he's so helpful. I later spoke with my god-son who mentioned that Celik helped him with his banking as well. I worked for RSB in the late 80's, my sister in the early 90's and my brother late 90's. It is nice to know that customer service is alive and well at RSB!!! read more

My son had an issue with his new Online Smart Move account. After several trips to the branch, he still could not get the issue resolved. We called the Online support center and were transferred to the manager, Annemarie. She was very helpful and so kind. She resolved all of the open issues while my son was on the phone with her. Recently, I changed banks after years with RSB, which is pretty close to white glove treatment. I didn't want to change banks, but my personal challenges impacted my movements significantly. The first bank I chose to replace RSB failed miserably. The 2nd choice is good, if this changes, and my PT pays off I may just return. I have had a Ridgewood on line savings account for probably less than a year. The interest has gone up steadily, but even more important at this time, Ridgewood is the most humane bank you could want to work with. In this time of pandemic they have sent out consistent emails to re assure their customers - even going as far to cancel overdraft fees. They are helping the community in various ways and taking time to re assure their employees have the support they need as well. There are real people there to answer questions and give support. I am closing my current checking account with another bank, who has lent no support and has $12.00 fees per month if one does not keep a certain monthly balance- talk about kicking you when you are down! They no longer deserve my business. I am grateful for Ridgewood Savings Bank and highly recommend them for checking and savings! read more

Horrible, horrible, horrible. I have experience with both the branch in Hicksville on Old Country Rd. and the "customer service line" ( 718 number). Ask two employees a question, and you will get two vastly different answers. A "customer service rep", Michelle L., at this branch gave me wrong information which lead me to have extreme stress when I was recently widowed. And then she denied it to "save face" with the woman manager. Also, when I called the "customer service" number I got two different answers to the same question. Something is radically wrong with this place. Do yourself a favor, look for another bank. I opened an account at Chase in Plainview. They gave me a "bonus" of $350 for doing so, and the customer service is superb. read more

This bank really does provide exceptional and old fashioned customer oriented service. The folks at the Garden City Park location are extremely eager to assist with all my banking needs. They immediately recognize their customers are are quick to say hello regardless of if they are assisting you or not. I have been extremely happy with this bank for years and will continue to enjoy conducting my business with them. My only complaint is the it's nearly impossible to deposit check using the app. The app doesn't have a problem taking a picture of the front of the check but when you try to take a picture of the back of the check you can literally try to hours without any success until you just have to give up and deposit the check at the ATM. I don't know if it's a glitch in the system but its very annoying. read more

I went with the lowest rate for my mortgage. Big mistake. Ridgewood is a complete nightmare to deal with, demanding 10x the paperwork than any other bank I have dealt with before. So here I am, with a 800 credit score and a pre-approval for a house twice the price of the one I'm buying, with my closing delayed because Ridgewood Savings Bank needs the water and sewer bills (something no one dreamed of asking about in my previous two mortgages). Ridgewood is a fantastic bank. I have had a mortgage with them since 2011, and have undergone a refinancing during that time. What differentiates Ridgewood from its peers are: (1) willingness to lend in less-than-ideal situations (e.g., my building is 40%+ owned by the sponsor and it is tough to get a lender to commit); (2) great customer service; and (3) favorable rates--Ridgewood was by far the lowest cost financing available I worked closely with Karen Carter and would highly recommend connecting with her for a seamless process. Full disclosure, the process can take some time to complete, however, I would expect all mortgage processes to be similar in nature. I refinanced with Ridgewood last year and, particularly given the pre-existing relationship, the process was very smooth. Ridgewood is always willing to look at a potential refinancing scenario or answer any questions I have around taxes, etc. I would highly recommend calling them for any mortgage need. read more

I tried to get a mortgage thru this Bank. They led me on for a long time and finally they came up with some outrageous conditions in the commitment that would make it impossible to accept. I talked to other brokers about this and the consensus was that they just DIDN'T want to give me the loan as the rates were going up. Why? Think about the illegal reasons for which a bank refuses you for a loan! This failed transaction which came as a surprise costed me a lot of money. Do not get involved with this bank. I have had a few bank accounts in my lifetime, and have never experience the problems associated with the branch in Bellmore. I have had to go in there several times for signatures since it is a joint account with an uncle who is wheelchair bound. I have power of attorney, (which I signed for at the bank) and was not told he would also have to sign to open an account with me. So here I go again, making another trip to the branch. I really need to close all his accounts there and go somewhere else. read more

Getting a mortgage with this bank requires hundreds of pieces of paperwork, explanations of explanations and writing paper checks for all kinds of stupid things. It could be a full time job just doing all the things they want you to do in order to borrow even the smallest amount for a mortgage. I had to fill out an explanation of my credit report TWICE, and one of those was why Ridgewood had looked at my credit score! I'm sure they're going to ask for a blood test and anal probe next. My family moved out to Long Island about 15 years ago and we bank at the branch on Bellmore Ave. I have to say they certainly know the meaning of the words "customer service". Ridgewood Savings Bank was a blessing that was needed during a difficult time as Executor of a family members estate. Being from Indianapolis IN and not familiar with the Glendale area and banking systems I needed a strong support system. I found that with two outstanding individuals which helped navigate through the system of closing out deceased accounts and reopening accounts for the estate. I can tell you that my trust level sky rocked with the assistance and actually felt as if I were family. The follow-up was fantastic and exceeded my expectations. Communication was amazing! Who calls to ask if you received your new estate checks in todays world! Being from out of state I only wish I had access to them locally in my home town. I can honestly say I made friends with the staff and they made me feel like family. What a blessing! This just does not happen in todays world! So many other banking systems could learn from this. If you think the bank is so freaking great try living near it. From the all-night party in the playground (parking lot) to the hours and hours of the shredding truck going in the lot during the day this historic icon of annoyance and indifference to everyone that has to live, SLEEP and work in the neighborhood puts them on par with a toxic waste dump or kindergarten/meth lab.They leave their parking lot open to the public who utilize it as a "Run amok zone" for their children. These kids literally are SCREAMING at the top of their lungs until after 10PM. Toddlers, up all night screeching while jabbering, vacuous parents smile on with the contentment that everyone should enjoy their inability to find and use birth control. Not every village wants to raise your child. Some people have to sleep and are not paying rent to listen to your kids scream. Move to the country where hopefully coyotes will snatch them up and probably do a better job raising them.Don't get me started on the Warm weather "Concerts" they have in the parking lot. Suffice to say every weekend geezer doo-wop and lawyer blooz act has found a home to blare idiotic Beatles songs we got sick of in the 1970's. It IS nice that people don't throw their trash in the parking lot during these events. They dump their McFrappe and Coolada cups right on the sidewalk where their SUV was parked before motoring back to Middle Village or wherever the hell they toted their folding chairs from. read more

The New Rochelle location offers the worst customer service ever.. My father recently passed away and left behind a decent amount and I figured I'd take out enough to purchase his headstone: payoff w/e else and leave the rest to savings. So I go in to open a savings account and the gentleman opening the account barely said 2 complete sentences to us. He was NOT AT ALL friendly or welcoming. After asking for 2 forms of ID, we sat quietly for about 10 mins while he imputed w/e info he needed to enter. Then he says "sign this" so of course we ask well what are we signing.. he explains its the terms and conditions for the account. We sign -stupid us for not fully reading- and then he continues. Not once did he say "you need x amount of dollars to open this account" or "how much are you looking to deposit today"... NOTHING. He proceeds to give us a printed page of our account number and routing number. I then say ok I want to deposit this check, is it possible to take x amount and deposit the rest? He say no it's a new account so it'll take a "couple" of days to clear. We say ok not a problem, obviously that's completely understandable.. only to find the out a week later that it take more than a couple of days to clear with the bank having the option to hold it even longer simply because it's a new account. However it's NOT a couple of days, it's more like A COUPLE OF WEEKS!!! So now at this point, I'm unable to purchase a headstone for my fathers grave and pay off whatever of his that needed to be paid. It looks like my family will be staring at a pile of DIRT when we go to the gravesite for his birthday. Smh I'm so disgusting at the fact that the we accepted such unsatisfying customer service and the wrong information and wrong expectations were set. As soon as I can, I will be closing this account and heading to my original bank. read more

I have been an account holder with a fair amount of money for more than 5 years. During that time I have found the bank to be inefficient, requiring multiple physical trips to the bank and multiple phone calls and emails to fix a single simple problem - and of these there are many. Their online facilities are very poor - online deposits consistently don't work (85% of the time it can't read a mobile check deposit readily accepted by Chase with no problem). You can't change you address or do many other things online. Online bill pay works inconsistently and you have to go to the bank to fix it. Wire transfers are a mystery to them. The website is often not working correctly. Customer service on the phone can never help you and you have to go the bank, where they often don't really know what is going on either. I often can't see my canceled checks in my statements. I have been charged for things that were supposed to be waived several times, requiring yet another trip to the bank. If you like taking off work (or ruining your day off) to go to the bank, this is the bank for you, because you will spend a lot of time there. I just bought a house, and everything that Chase did with no problems in minutes took several attempts at Ridgewood and a lot more time. The extended hours are sort of a lie, because there are a couple inexperienced tellers in a closed off window but not full banking (i.e. can't do change of address or get a copy of canceled check that I should be able to see in my statement anyway). read more
