My mother, a patient who is not at all a picky eater, has been unable to force down several of her meals. In one instance, an entree identified as "fish" was cooked to the point of petrification and could not be cut with the supplied plastic serrated knife. She gave up on that one. We have resorted to bringing in food to her as often as possible. A top-to-bottom review of Stonegate's food service should be the first step on the road to decent meals for its clients.

I question their credentialing. No one there seems skilled and yet they call themselves skilled nursing. They are rough in handling patients, especially very fragile ones. The RN's care more about inputting data on their computers while looking at their phones instead of offering personal touch and engagement with their patients. There is ALWAYS an excuse as to why results are not given, labs aren't drawn, and assistance is nowhere to be found! They deliberately ignore the call light and if you call it to their attention, they get pissed off at you and your family and will not attend to any critical needs or concerns. They do not know how to assess the needs of their patients. Each person that comes in is handled in the same manner; whether you have just lost your legs and can't walk or whether you got a paper cut. It doesn't matter. No one matters to the staff. They pretend to care but at the end of the day, they don't. Your family member is WAY BETTER OFF going home to rehab in the comfort of the home. My mother was there for broken hip rehab, developed a very contagious stomach infection (out of the blue), became severely dehydrated after 4 days of uncontrollable diarrhea and neglect to treat properly. I removed her from that place and took her to the ER where we were told that she was in renal failure and extremely ill. Three days later, she passed away. What an utter shock to me and my family to bury my beautiful mother this past week. I will never recommend this company to anyone.

I had one for recent surgery, one for a serious pressure sore. another rule, no shower, no clean sheets. my bed was changed twice the entire time, just because someone took pity on me. it took us a week or more to convince them I had orders for a special diet, and when the surgeon suddenly changed it, we couldn't convince them to switch. They are very careless about medicines. my endocrinologist insists that Synthroid must be taken four hours before calcium, and calcium doses should be split during the day. they ordered some glaucoma eye drops after three days. I was given them one time, and they disappeared. when I got home, I discovered they had prescribed some drugs that were habit- forming. I'm pretty sure I didn't take the, but I wasn't sure. They are understaffed. some aides and nurses are really rude, ,others are extremely nice. we found that communication between departments ,even between shifts in the same department, was non-existent. I do not recommend this place at all.

The first day, no one showed up & we did not receive a call telling us that they would not be sending anyone out - we had to call & inquire. The person who came out the second day was good, but a different person came out the third day and she was worse than useless. I had to serve HER lunch! And I had just spent a month in the hospital, including ICU. The next person BrightStar sent out wanted a sweater so I had to get my walker, squeeze into my closet and find a suitable sweater for her (she didn't like the first one I pulled out) She unplugged lamps to plug in her computer which she was on all day - after she left for the evening, we had to replug the lamps and clean up the mess she left in the kitchen. We were paying $172 per day for care and because I needed transportation to doctor's offices, which was a big selling point from the BrightStar rep. But on the day I needed to go to the lab for a blood check, we find out the next employee sent out did not have a car - a friend had dropped her off that morning (she was half an hour late) So, I had to get a home health care nurse from another agency to come out and do the blood test. Two of the three BrightStar employees were absolutely WORTHLESS. I ended up having to wait on them like they were privileged guests in my home all while trying to recover from a multitude of medical problems. Going to a quality nursing home for a couple of weeks would have been a much better option.
