I have purchased three dresses from here and will keep coming back! I definitely recommend this boutique for any lady with fancy dress needs!

I said I would like to make an appointment. I arrived at the agreed upon time and was asked by the saleslady what I was looking for. I showed her the colors for the wedding I am attending. She asks what my budget was, I told her "it's is whatever I like". She showed me a few dresses but I asked if I could look around. She asked what style I liked and I said "understated and elegant". She said "this is not that kind of store". I didn't really like any of the dresses so I decided to leave. On my way out she said she had another room I could look in. In that side room I saw 1 black and white dress that I liked and she showed me 2 other black dresses. I tried the 1st dress on. As she was zipping me up, I said I didn't care for it and was going to try on the other dress. I went in the room to undress and she said twice " open the door" because she saw me looking at the black and white dress. I said twice "wait a minute please" so she hung it outside my dressing room to try next. I tried on the 2nd dress but didn't like it. I told her that she didn't have to zip me up because I didn't like it and I wanted to try on the black and white dress. She said to me rudely "you don't like nothing; how can you tell if you like it if you don't want to zip it up!" I said, "I can tell without zipping it up if I like it or not and I want to try on the Black and white dress". She then took the B/W dress that was hanging outside my dressing room and hung it back up with the other dresses for sale. I told her "As a sales person you shouldn't make me feel bad". I left and won't be coming back!

At Bridal Expos and online, you usually get bombarded with the chain Menswear places to do your business with for your wedding day (like I did). The styles at these places were bland and I wanted something different. I stumbled upon Sam Michael's and from my first visit (of probably 5 or 6 in total), I was hooked! Walking in here for the first time, I didn't know what to expected. I explained that I was getting married, and 8 groomsmen and 2 parents that needed suits. I was sat down and shown all of my different rental options, which included suits, tuxes, pants, ties, shoes and other accessories. So many decisions, but I was granted the ability to stay there and think carefully, but also explained to that I can change it as many times as I want up to a month or so before the wedding date. Attached are some pictures of the suit I picked for myself and my groomsmen. It was a brand new suit in their inventory that they personally owned, as well as the color choice for my accents (pocket square and tie). Michael and team were very professional through the entire process. We had multiple texts and phone calls back and forth during my moving of our wedding date as well as when my accent color was discontinued. After the wedding was all said and done, I was granted a $500 shopping spree on a suit set of my choice. That was really exciting and I got a nice blue, checkered patterned suit. Initially the suit was advertised to me as "slightly more expensive" but better quality and service than competitors. After we allocated our wedding finances after we got married, at Sam Michael's, I actually spent LESS than what I budgeted and LESS than a competitor I was initially going to go with. Totally worth it here! Thank you Mike and team for everything! I felt like family every time I walked in. No errors or resizing for any of us during our pick ups.

When we arrived, we were greeted warmly and treated very well. The sales associate was knowledgeable, passionate, and very helpful. My daughter found a dress she loved, but she wanted to sleep on the decision before committing. While speaking with the owner and the sales associate, they were very encouraging and suggested I leave a deposit to hold the dress. Unfortunately, leaving that deposit turned out to be the worst decision. I left a $150 deposit thinking my daughter would most likely want that dress, or at the very least another dress from that shop. However, when she woke up the next day, she realized she didn't want that dress anymore. Three days later we went back to the shop to let them know. That's when I was informed that if we didn't keep the original dress, we would lose the $150 deposit completely. We couldn't apply it toward another dress, a purse, earrings, alterations, or anything else in the store. It was simply forfeited. I understand that holding a dress may prevent other potential buyers from purchasing it, and I understand that businesses need policies to protect themselves. However, I did not appreciate how strongly we were encouraged to leave the deposit, knowing how often teens change their minds. I feel like I was led into losing $150. This is simply a warning to other parents: do not leave a deposit unless you are absolutely certain about the dress, because if you change your mind, you will lose it.

She has an eye for couture, current trends, vintage, and formal wear in sizes from extra small to XXL. No matter what your size, you'll find fashionable clothing. She also carries accessories (scarves, jewelry, purses, etc...) One of her mottos is "being broke ain't cute" and her clothing is priced right. If you catch a sale, don't sleep on it. I've gotten many designer dresses around $30-$35. Of course there are items below and above this price! She usually does a weekly FB "live" so that you can see some of her mostly one of a kind inventory. There are dressing rooms inside with adequate space and full-size mirrors. First and foremost I would warn anyone who is thinking about renting from here. I drove 600+ miles to be fitted by the tailor at Jim's 4 months before the wedding (I was the best man, so it was important). The female with the glasses measured me, putting the height and weight in the wrong slots, not measuring my inseam (I've been measured before and this was never skipped) and doing everything extremely fast. 4 months later I return for the final fitting and pickup a few days before the wedding. The suit was too big, which happens and is understandable, but what wasn't understandable was the same woman who measured me immediately asked if I went on a diet, and I told her no and that I specifically didn't lose or gain weight because of the tux... She told who I can only assume is Jim, and he asked her who measured me. She said she did, and again I was asked if I had gone on a "crash diet", so I had to explain to Jim that I hadn't, which it's none of his business that I did or not. So I go back and take my stuff off (only the shirt fit) and notice there are no mirrors in the fitting room. I found this odd so I started looking around at the signs. One said that they are short staffed "like the rest of the country" - the country is no longer short staffed, and jims tuxedo is a family business. They also had an "American first" sign, while their shirts are "handcrafted in China". While reading the signs I also heard Jim talking to the woman who measured me, he told her to call the place that they ordered the tux from and her reply was "I don't call places" so he had to for her. (I have to note that before I tried on the tux I could hear the older, heavier woman that works there complain about how she was tired of trying people's suits on... I'm sorry, you don't do hardly anything you just put suspenders on and measure, we dress ourselves, we don't walk around naked in a tux shop, it's your job) I go back the next day to pick up my fixed tuxedo... And I immediately notice that the kirk plaque had grown into a full blown shrine on top of one of their clothing racks. The plaque was there along with a few other pictures and a t-shirt. I also noticed the "wanted" Trump t-shirt they had for sale behind the counter at this time. So clearly feeling like these people are forcing their political opinions on me, I just wanted my stuff and to go. I made sure everything fit, and this time the male with the long hair helped me. Which I shouldn't have to say it, but with working in a tux shop you'd think he'd be a little more clean cut and shave his neck? He wasn't even wearing socks. My stuff fit and I left. Everything SHOULD HAVE been right at this time. But. When all the groomsmen got to the hotel and started to get dressed I noticed that JIM'S TUXEDO HAD GIVEN ME THE WRONG CUFFLINK COLOR. This with everything added up is so out of line it's insane. Everyone had grey pearl and I had cheap looking black plastic. Luckily, Jim's gave one of the little kids in the wedding party an extra pair of the correct color so I used those. Even the suspenders were worn out and wouldn't stay closed/clasped, you have to bend them back when they get too worn or replace them, Jim's obviously has not done either. For Jim's tuxedo to be serving such a wide demographic, yet align themselves with such divisive characters, and then on top of that offer a subpar experience is doing the entire downriver community a disservice. Im going to recommend to everyone I know of downriver to not shop at Jim's, and to go to the mall or some other local shop. If the staff doesn't want to work, perform their duties, treat ALL the customers with grace, then let the business go because you're spoiling people's cherished moments and memories.
