His staff could not be more unprofessional. I have been going to this office for over a year and two months ago I started having really unusual neurological symptoms that arose from an area in my spine. Dr. Wakefield ordered several MRI's for me, including for the brain and the spine. When my MRI came back for the spine, something was detected and I was told I needed to get another MRI with contrast to rule out a lesion or tumor. Over these few weeks my symptoms have progressed to where it is affecting my ability to walk and even ended with me having to go to the ER because I lost feeling in the left side of my body. As I await this next MRI, my husband and I kept getting calls from insurance telling us that they needed the doctors notes and previous MRI test results to go ahead and approve the MRI with contrast and that they had had trouble getting ahold of anyone from my doctors office about it. Because of this, I have politely tried to explain this to a few members of staff. Never once have I been rude or raised my voice-- that is not the type of person I am and that's not in my nature. I got a phone call today from the office manager Janet who was beyond dismissive of me and made allegations that I was "harassing" her staff all because I called a few times requesting the information to be sent to my insurance company for them to proceed with my MRI. I am so incredibly discouraged with my treatment at this office. I have been nothing but kind and respectful to the nurses I hear speaking about other staff members and patients right out in the open, which is incredibly unprofessional in my opinion, and it is beyond incomprehensible for the manager to not take my issues seriously- she told me they cannot "drop everything for me," which is not something I have ever expected or requested of them. I just simply wanted insurance as well as my doctor's office to work together and submit what they need to in order for me to get proper health care. It seems like that is too much to ask for from the staff here at Norwood. I have also requested numerous times for a phone call with any of my test results, and the nurse refuses to do so even after being asked by Dr. Wakefield. I do not always have access to the portal so a phone call in the midst of the scary symptoms I have experienced to let me know where my health stands should not be a tall order. I feel like I am being pushed out of this office, which is incredibly confusing as I have never been a problem or cause for concern, and I have been nothing but respectful to the staff when I have been experiencing very poor health care. Threatening to discharge a patient over them POLITELY requesting that paperwork be sorted with insurance is a very bizarre move and really had me taken aback. People that behave this way should not be a part of the medical field or deal with people struggling with health issues. Looking at reviews on here, it doesn't seem like I am the only one and this is a recurring issue. Sadly I will be seeking a new doctor. I hope that the staff at this office is retrained to learn how to speak to concerned patients, but something tells me that won't happen.

The kind gentleman who worked with us, Richard (he goes by Dick), made the entire procedure painless. I received a call back to the message I'd left enquiring about a stairlift and he came out the very next day, answered all of my questions and gave me the estimate. I'd already researched pricing and the estimate was within what I expected so we wrote up the contract and he went ahead and ordered the lift and its parts. This was all during the week that held New Year's Eve and Day so I expected installation to possibly be delayed because of this, but he called me a day EARLIER than I'd expected to tell me everything was ready to go! On the day of the lift's setup, Dick and his installation partner, Dan, arrived right on time. It literally took less than 90 minutes for the stairlift to be installed and working. The stairlift is easy to operate, moves without any jerking or hesitation once it's engaged, and is allowing my mother to remain in the home she loves now that she has mobility issues. The communication from Dick and Southern Stairlifts is excellent. He had the answers to all of my questions both pre-and post-installation and I am happy to recommend them to anyone.

That said, I'm going with a 3/5 for the first trip here. -2 - Check-in - you shouldn't have to argue with any receptionists about temperatures or what is considered good or bad on symptoms; we're here because we think there's an issue and would like to speak to someone past reception. If we weren't so worried about the kiddo I would have stayed to discuss the behavior with someone. Otherwise, filling out some electronic form never gets to the right people. +1 - cleanliness - it was clean in every area we were in +1 - location - close to home so yay! +1 - staff (minus check-in folks) - all the help once we were inside was great. The doctor on staff was patient and took time to address concerns. Will be back and am glad for the convenience, but will be prepared to deal with whatever the front desk experience may be. Glad i found out there is a portal to keep information up to date. Will update review if things improve.

Upon arrival the ladies at the front desk were very nice and helpful. Although once we arrived into our room, it was absolutely filthy. The cabinets were covered in some sticky residue, the walls were also covered in nastiness including the one directly behind the table, and the table she was expected to sit on was covered in glitter. Thankfully I wiped down everything just incase my daughter were to touch it. After waiting for about 30 minutes we were told it was a viral infection without running any tests and told us "I will not be prescribing her any medications due to the fact i'm not her doctor". Needless to say this place needs to actually care about their patients instead of running through them like they don't exist. Start cleaning your rooms properly so viruses don't spread. Finally HAVE SOME EMPATHY AND STOP ASSUMING PEOPLE ARE DUMB. Honorable mention to the "doctor" also known as Mark McMullan, NP.

They ran a test for UTI on Day 1. They told me if it was negative they would order an ultrasound with Ft Loudon medical center. On Day 2 I called regarding my results. They advised case was closed because I didn't have a UTI. Well when were you going to tell me that. I then asked them to arrange for the ultrasound. After 3 days of pain I called Ft Loudon and asked about the order. they said the original order from Summit was incorrect and they sent it back for a redo on the day they received it. Summit had not returned it. They advised me to have Summit request a stat order to get the test done immediately. When I called Summit they advised they had sent it back that morning. So it took 4 days for them to re-send the incorrect order back to Ft Loudon. I was livid. Then some other person came on the line. she advised that my test couldn't be done by a stat order but said she didn't know why. I told her I now had no choice but to go to emergency because I couldn't wait another 4 days for treatment. I told them they were completely incompetent in handling this matter. She then told me I was free to find another provider and hung up on me. Bottom line, went to emergency and they did a CT scan instead of an ultrasound and advised me what the problem was. NEVER AGAIN WILL I STEP FOOT IN SUMMIT TELLICO VILLAGE.
