I came across a link a friend posted on Facebook in which R2B was highlighted in a news segment on Fox 11 News. Alex and his wife Kim, looked knowledgeable and friendly, so I looked up their website and sent an email asking some questions. Within 20 minutes, Alex called me back and answered all of my questions with enthusiasm and knowledge. I asked about the possibility of taking my daughter to the class as well since we own a handgun and I wanted / needed to her to not only know how to use one if she ever needed to, but more so to learn about them, respect them and not be scared or "curious" about it while at home. Alex was 100% accepting and encouraging in the idea of bringing her in for a class. So, I set it up for the next available class (they fill up quickly and only take 10 participants per class). My young daughter and I took the Intro To Firearms women's class with Alex and Kim yesterday, June 3rd. In one word, it was AMAZING. We were the first ones there and Alex actually came out into the parking lot to greet us, knew my name and my daughters name and put us both at ease immediately. We went inside and met Kim, and had a great conversation. They are so easy to talk to and took all the nerves both my daughter and I had, away within the first few minutes. They treat you like they've known you forever and I could totally see myself being friends with them. They are the kind of people you WANT to know and be around. Once everyone showed up, the class started. The in-class instruction lasted about an hour. We learned a lot, at a pace and method both adults and children could understand. And they're funny too!! I learned a few things I was doing wrong with locking my weapon, etc but the way Alex pointed it out, didn't make me feel stupid or incompetent. We then went into the firing range and were split into 3 groups (there are 3 instructors). Alex was our instructor and he was amazing. He let us move at our own pace and made everything enjoyable. At no time did I worry about safety as he was right there, the entire time, watching and coaching each move we made, taught us how to properly hold the handgun, when to put your finger on the trigger, how hard to pull the trigger, how to load the weapon, how to unload the weapon, etc. The range portion of the class lasted about 2 hours and every moment was a teachable but enjoyable moment. My 12 year old did better than me!! They joke a lot (at the right times) and it's a very lighthearted, while safe and secure environment. So, if you're looking for a drill sergeant, or an overbearing instructor, this isn't the place for you. If you want to learn at your own pace, be taught how to do things properly and safely while having a good time, this is definitely the place for you. My daughter walked in very nervous and scared to be honest, and she walked out SO excited. She started asking me when we could go back to the range before we even left and she hasn't stopped talking about it since. The best part is, that she learned how to live safely around these weapons and now I feel a LOT better having one in my home. She is even having our family members test her for the proper stance and grip (little things Alex taught her). In closing, I couldn't be more satisfied with the instructors at R2B and can't wait to return for another class as well as the BBQ and alumni day! My kids and I took a private safety course with Alex yesterday and it was worth every penny. He taught us in a fun and non threatening way. This was my kids first time shooting a real gun and he took his time with them. My daughter kicked butt and I was very impressed at how he was guiding her. She is a perfectionist and gets disheartened when given too many corrections. Alex made her feel empowered and she took to shooting like a fish to water. My son who will be 7 soon had a shorter attention span and Alex let him chase butterflies. He didnt pressure him to shoot more than neccesary. He just isn't ready, but Alex is confident that with more classroom time we can at least lay a good safety foundation for him. Now, remember how I said my daughter is a perfectionist? Well she gets that from her mama. I wasn't expecting to do very well but with all of the tips and corrections, I exceeded all of my expectations. Alex progressed at my pace, challenged and encouraged me to stick with it. He is a great and fun instructor and really makes you feel like family. We are all going back in a couple of weeks to take another course so we can feel confident about furthering our education and passing that along to our kids. There was some miscommunication regarding this and Alex wasted no time in stepping up and correcting the issue. I ended up speaking with him on the phone and he was a pleasure to speak with. I purchased my first firearm a few months ago and was trying to steadily learn on my own. I decided to reach out to Alex and his team so that I could get professional instruction before developing bad habits with my form. Alex was very friendly upon meeting me. He immediately asked me my goals for the private session I booked and my current familiarity with my firearm. We spent time in the classroom learning the concepts behind the safety and shooting followed by range time. We went through 100 rounds with clear advice and instruction as to what I needed to do to improve my shot. My main issue was trigger press. By the time the session ended, I knew exactly what I needed to work on and I am already at home dry firing to practice my trigger, as instructed by Alex who assigned me homework. Alex gave me his number and offered to give me free advice whenever, including, in person when shooting at the riverside magnum range. Ultimately pleased with the experience and happy I purchased the instruction. I am on my way to being the accurate shooter I want to be. Just completed CCW training class that was for people who just received their CCW. This class consisted of a lot of shooting, drawing your weapon ect. All I can say is a well planned instructional class. Alex and his team had everything well planned with safety being the number one priority. I was a little nervous about taking this class. Unlike my daughter, I only go shooting once or twice a year. However, the class had a wide range of students from zero experience to CCW carrier. Went here to renew my CCW. The staff here, EACH AND EVERY ONE OF THEM, are A1. Learned more from them in 30 minutes than I have in 10 years. The best place to shoot and obtain your CCW. I had the pleasure of participating in Alex's Basic Fire Arm Training class in January. I, along with 5 other ladies, (friends of mine) took the class together. It was a great experience. We learned so much and felt very comfortable when it came time to shoot in the range. Alex was patient and took time with each one of us to help us. Some had no experience, some needed a refresher course....we ranged in age from a teenager to a 79 year old -shooting for the first time. I know that there are numerous firearm classes available in order to educate the public, but none come close to R2B. The level of learning and experience that you receive from Alex and the rest of the staff in the class is exceptional. None of the macho, ego-filled, gun attitude exists here like most places that instruct regarding firearms. Affordable and Quality.
