We contacted Home Care Assistance who came and met with us to assess the level of care required and to find a caregiver with the required skill set to appropriately take care of my mother. They found 2 caregivers within a day and reviewed their qualifications and experience with us. We requested an interview with one of the caregivers which was immediately set up. After selecting the caregiver, our Client Manager accompanied her on the first day and stayed a while to ensure a smooth transition. Our Client Manager keeps in contact with us regularly to make sure things are going well and if there is anything additional she and the team can do to assist. It's hard enough deciding it's time to get a loved one some help, so choosing a home care provider is a very important decision. We are very happy with the care and interest Home Care Assistance staff and personnel have supplied with the care of my mother. In a fast moving world with numerous responsibilities to attend to daily, it's very comforting to know that there is someone there taking good care of my mother and to ensure she has everything she needs. In addition to finding qualified help, it was very reassuring to discover the honesty of our caregiver as well. With my mother's dementia and confusion that comes with it, she paid her caregiver $50 cash her first day. The caregiver brought it to my attention and handed me the money. I was so grateful for her honesty as many people these days could have easily kept it.

Danielle helped our family through a difficult time. She is competent, professional and empathetic and was able to get us the help we needed in one day. My brother was recently diagnosed with advanced pancreatic cancer. Although he was approved for Hospice, the hospital would not discharge him until we had hired an aide for additional hours. Due to Covid, there is a shortage of health care aides. We found a facility, but they had to cancel us due to staffing problems and another facility canceled when the aide had been exposed to Covid and had to quarantine. That occurred the day before my brother was supposed to be discharged. Needless to say, he was very disappointed. We were referred to yet another facility, who could not help us, but did put me in touch with Danielle. She worked with me throughout the day, patiently answering all of my questions and helping me navigate through the process of getting the help we needed. Thanks to Danielle, my brother is going home, today, only a day later than what had been scheduled with the facility that had to cancel! We have been in touch with others at Home Care Assistance and have been pleased, so far! Thank you, Danielle!

The floors, oh my gawd, the floors needed some love.) The person Jennifer, the owner, sent over delivered above and beyond anything I imagined. It actually pained me to say farewell to Louise. I found them by searching for "elder care" "help" in the Suffolk County, Long Island area. My late night call was returned promptly, with a (free) assessment meeting scheduled that very week. Having had experience with terrible home health aides I honestly didn't think I'd get much out of this service. But when you need help options seem limited. So here's the thing. Louise showed up the first day and didn't stop moving until she left three hours later. I had booked the minimum weekly time (3hrs 2x/week) for budget reasons. I figured we'd start to chip away at the massive to-do list. Nope. We finished my list in short order and tackled a host of other challenges. Everything and anything you'd like to do with an extra set of hands. Home Health Companions are typically something you'd book for older folks. They are a wonderful resource to keep an eye out on the elderly or infirm. (Note: They do not do heavy lifting like showering someone. They will be available to assist.) My parents eagerly looked forward to the smile Louise would bring, as well as her witty and very funny insight. If you're on the lookout for a trustworthy organization this is the one. Items will not go missing with Family First. As an example, we had been discussing my new favorite spray deodorant. As I was at the end of a bottle I offered it to Louise. Her expression was priceless. "Goodness, no! We never take any items from a client." (It never occurred to me how someone with dementia might start to give away important possessions.) Please make sure you know what your doing before calling this company. There nurse Christy quit and I was never notified. I got a call from a second agency I use, Bayada, and they sent a nurse over to cover this agencies responsibility. I actually had to fill out all the paperwork for the Cordinator because they didn't know how to even do that. Then I had to train this nurse Christy because they don't train them on how to care for the client. They only had two days to cover and couldn't even manage to do that. If you need a great agency please call Bayada. They train all there nurses prior to sending them out to clients. Then the nurse is trained in the clients home by a nurse that's worked here and knows the case without leaving up to family members to train a nurse that doesn't seem to know what a nurse should know. Save your loved one from safe and sound. I now fired the agency.

He can still do most things but needs extra support. This company is a God-send. They are very respectful and honoring if my Dad and seriously go that extra mile. When my Dad had a cold, Kathi made him some chicken soup at home and brought it to my Dad. She didn't have to. She could have just cooked the food in his fridge/freezer but chose to make him fresh soup. I so appreciate every time I visit my Dad and the house is kept up - the floors are swept and mopped, rugs are vacuumed, bathroom is clean, dishes are washed, and the litter box is cleaned. My Dad gets the attention he needs but they also give him the space he wants. They keep detailed daily notes regarding his blood pressure, oxygen levels, and the such. They also journal other notes including food he eats. I personally appreciate all the above mentioned care and compassion but also that they include a health component. Their focus is preparing healthy and tasty meals for my Dad - not just to throw ingredients together and toss it in front of him. They wouldn't last very long in my Dad's house if they did that. Lastly, and most importantly, he responds well to every person that tends to him from this company. The owner is very involved in the care on an intimate basis - not surface care. She also has days she is at my Dad's house for shifts. Being over 100 years young, my Dad has very specific ways of doing things or having things done. Senior 911 Works affords him that space and lends a hand - when he allows - and they do it with grace. They don't push anything on him - and he wouldn't allow that anyway. Senior Abuse is a very real thing and I will not tolerate ANY of it! I highly recommend this team of patient and compassionate professional caregivers/companions. We only have one Dad and therefore want the best for him. This company provides that confidence to me that he's treated in the respectful caring way that I desire for him.
