The final price was close to the original quote. However, the project took twice as long to complete. Nevertheless, as we saw the progress of the project and the high quality of work being done, we became less concerned about the timeline of completion. We are extremely pleased with the aesthetics of our new living space. More importantly, we watched the construction of Michael's work. He was cognitive of cost, yet he never compromised on the quality and workmanship. Shortly after the job was completed, we had our HVAC technician come in to clean our furnance. The firt thing he said was, "Wow, what a beautiful floor!" Everyone that walks into our basement mentions how beautiful everything turned out. The bathroom with a full size walk-in shower looks far more expensive than it actually cost. We are extremetly pleased with Legacy Doors and More and the subcontractors that Michael hired for the plumbing and electrical work.

I turned to Yelp and found this company and sent them a note for a quote. Early next morning I get a text to set up an appointment. They sent a fair price and wanted to set up an appointment for the following Monday from 10-noon. "5" stars to this point. I scheduled some personal time to be home for the appointment. This is where it gets a bit hairy. At 12:20 I send a text to see if they are still coming. Response back is that tech was delayed and will be there in about an hour. 2:08 pm I send a note to see if everything is okay? Another apology and they think he is almost done at the job before mine. ETA of 30-40 minutes or an offer to re-schedule. Cannot really reschedule since I took time off. 3:20pm I send a note that no tech has showed up. He arrives about 5 minutes later. Tech has the job done in about 40 minutes. I go to pay him and he tells me he doesn't have the ability to take Venmo or a check. I reach out to the anonymous text and am told they can take a CC for a 3% fee. Woof. Instead they email me a bill and I go find a checkbook and a stamp. The actual spring replacement was great and quick. I really didn't like being the one chasing down my appointment and felt that if someone is going to be late (or late again, or again) they should be reaching out to me.

Called A-1 for them to claim the springs they installed in 2017 only have a 3 year warranty but of course they offer a 5 warranted spring for $560 & 7 year warranted spring for $630. Searching options GDS Garage Door Repair quoted $400 replacement for both springs installed complete with a 10 year warranty. A-1 claims having the best warranty in the business is bull shit. GDS will be here tomorrow morning to do the work. Everybody has to make a little profit but attempting to bend loyal customers over is not welcome for anybody. I called before business hours (unknowingly,) and the gentleman who answered set me up to have a spring replaced. They were able to come out in under 2 hours and the replacement on my spring was only about 30 minutes. Because my husband is out of town at the moment, we've been parking his gigantic truck in our garage so a lot of our tools, parts, and equipment is shoved into one small area. The guys who came out to fix my spring helped me pull everything out of the way and then clean it all up when they were done. They were very kind, incredibly helpful and very personable people. We searched online for someone who could come the next day, looked for an established website, and booked whoever could get there soonest. Not ideal, but that is the reality of an urgent home repair. Scheduling was easy through their website. We were told the technician would arrive between 2 and 4 pm the following day. He called at 1:00 pm saying he would be there in twenty minutes, which would have been fine except nobody was home yet. A small inconvenience worth mentioning. He did send a photo of himself in advance so I knew who to expect at the door, which was an appreciated safety detail. The technician arrived in uniform, driving a branded truck, and presented himself professionally and courteously throughout the visit. He assessed the door, explained what he believed the issue to be, and presented three options with considerably different price points. Not knowing much about garage doors myself I called my husband, and the technician patiently walked him through everything again, answered his questions, and adjusted the estimate accordingly. That patience earned him genuine credit. An hour and a half later the job was done. The spring was tensioned, several rollers and hinges were replaced, and the motor was reset. The garage door works now. Here is where the three stars come in, $1,000 for that work left us with a nagging feeling that is hard to shake. Were all those replacements truly necessary? When you are alone with a technician who knows far more than you do about garage doors, it is difficult to push back or ask the right questions. The technician was not pushy or rude, but the pricing felt aggressive and the situation made it easy to feel like the estimate grew beyond what the problem actually required. He also made a point of warning us that future repairs could cost even more, which is not exactly the reassurance you want to send someone off with. Three stars. The door works, the service was professional, but next time we will try to ask around for a recommendation before an emergency happens.
