I highly recommend him if you're seeking a massage therapist in the Arvada/Golden area. Matt was thorough in analyzing not only my current health status, but also paid close attention to my overall health and activity history. He used this information to plan my treatment, and even advised that we break up my 90-minute session into two 45 minute sessions so that we can begin to properly address some if my issues. He also recommended (and later emailed references for) some great local yoga studios when I indicated I was in the market. This attention to detail and focus on patient well being is what separates the good from the great. The massage itself was firm and therapeutic. I prefer deep tissue-style massages and Matt definitely delivered. It was precisely what needed, and I've noticed immediate improvements in my comfort and range of motion. Booked through the website (great hours if you have normal working hours) and answered some of the questions. I'm sure I wrote something confusing because Sami contacted me to clarify what I selected vs. what I was expecting. We went through a moment of needing to reschedule and he was perfectly nice and flexible with the new time. Day of, he patiently went over any and all things I had issues with or wanted to focus on, my history of bodywork, etc. that doesn't count toward your session time. And then the happy place (*sigh* seriously, IS is now my happy place). It's a dark room with the table that he's modified for the music vibration to work, that's heated with a heavy-ish soft blanket that he bathes in meditation-y music. So freaking perfect. Not counting his work, I probably would have been happy with all of that on its own. But he is incredibly attuned to you/your body. He goes in and out of light touches to deeper work. Some of what he did were methods I'm familiar with, and some that I'm now bummed to know about because where the hell else am I going to find someone like him?? I'm sure he's also got some magic feel of the right song for the right moment that I thought was next-level considerate. We had a debrief session before I left and shared what area he thought I needed to focus on more in the future (si-11). Again, he was kind with his time and knowledge even though it was late and he was heading out too. I'm sad Sami's in Denver (and happy for all of you). Do not go here! 1st appointment: I went about a month ago. The appointment was booked on their website at a time that was listed as available. The business decided to reschedule the time [on the same day], and not tell me. I was irritated but didn't complain and showed up at the new time they assigned to me. Fortunately, the massage therapist I got, Alex, was excellent! During the massage, I told him that the time was changed on me without notification. He apologized on behalf of the business and told me that unfortunately, it has happened to other clients before, but it is out of his control. Alex helped my chronic leg pain a lot, so I decided to reschedule. 2nd appointment: I was scheduled to see Alex tomorrow for another session. A notification was sent via text to me today to confirm the appointment. I confirmed. AFTER confirming it said that a different person, Richard Perez, would be treating me. I scheduled with Alex, not Richard. This is not OK. I RE-scheduled with Alex for a reason. I left a message with the business, but didn't expect to hear back in time about it, so, I contacted Alex, whose number I have because I asked him for some doctor/health info after my last visit. I asked him, 'what is going on?' Alex informed me that upon putting in his 2 week notice, he was immediately fired. This is beyond NOT OK. I will never support a business who treats employees like that. Amazing update as I type this!!!! Richard Perez [owner/therapist] just called me as I'm typing this and apologized for switching the therapist on me. Ok, thanks for the apology, but... When I told him I'm not ok with how he runs his business, he started talking over me and defending all of his actions. He said its not his fault he changed the time on me. [Who's fault is it when you own the business?] He had no response to that. I told him what Alex said about being fired after putting in his 2 weeks. Richard defended that too by saying, "we didn't need him and his 2 weeks was a courtesy to me. He didn't have to do that." So you fire him? That's not how that works RICHARD!!! Richard then proceeded to accuse Alex of 'stealing' his former clients. Excuse me Richard, but I went to your office 1 time and saw Alex. Therefore I rescheduled with Alex, not you. This does not qualify as stealing clients. And in no way did Alex EVER say anything bad about you. In fact, he actually said good things about you and said that you [Richard] are a good massage therapist who is currently attending chiro school. People who 'steal' clients do not promote their former boss. And FYI Richard, I have yet to reschedule with Alex. I don't even know if/when I will go see him again now. He's not my 'buddy'. I met him for the first time at your office and he helped me with some serious issues I have, so I wanted to see him again. Alex is simply your former employee who is a nice/responsible/professional person [3 things you aren't] who doesn't want to work for a Richard like you. I don't blame him. Don't blame your former employees for your own personal flaws. Back to the phone convo: Richard was argumentative and wouldn't listen to me. He continued talking over me and accusing me [and Alex] of odd things. I had enough and I stopped him by saying he's running a "s****y business" and doesn't deserve any clients the way he treated me or his former employee. Then he called me a "F-ing stupid client who wants to get his a** beat!" WTF!?!?! Do not visit this person. He's supposed to be helping people in this profession, not hurting them. I'm sitting here laughing at the incredulity of this interaction that just happened, and EXTREMELY thankful that I didn't keep the appointment with him for tomorrow. Nobody should be in a room alone with this guy!!! Richard, PLEASE! consider a different profession and go get some help. I do not wish harm on you and no, I do not want to fight you [as you insinuated]. Be well you Richard.

Because I was desperate to get help for a chronically swollen, painful knee and hip, I ignored many signs during our 4 hrs. together that this guy did not know what he was doing. After 1.5 hrs. of reviewing my paperwork, with both of us getting bored, I asked if we could get to the massage. He said he had forgotten to eat lunch, so he actually ate lunch while he gave me a massage. There are many good massage therapists and bodywork professionals in this town. David Edwin Ward from Vital Body is not one of them. Note that his website has one review and that is from his wife.
