It was relaxing and beautiful. 11 miles of beautiful scenery where we saw a doe and fawn drinking along the waters edge, a bald eagle, and several other birds. We experienced our first ever family river rafting adventure on the hottest day of the year LOL it was about 118°. We picked the guided tour with Cody and it was the best decision we made. Great service! Be sure to arrive 30 min before your reservation! The only hang up was having to wait for some losers who were 45 min late!!! We had to stand around for almost an hour because of them. Not Rill's fault and I'm glad they conserved gas to make one trip with the shuttle. Once we were finally in the water, it was was smooth sailing! Tubing down the Yakima was amazing. We stopped to walk across the suspension bridge, and to jump from the bluff (watch the current!) We also saw lots of deer and Bighorn Sheep drinking from the river. Staff was awesome. Fun afternoon rafting down the upper Yakima River. The Riff crew was waiting for us when we arrived. Bryce was our guide so we could enjoy the beautiful scenery and wildlife. 4 Star's - YAY! I'm a fan! 5 Star's - WOOHOO! As good as it gets! :-) So I went w/ 4 stars...ONLY becuz... I think i'm in between both! I wish there were a 4.5 star review :) We did the Upper Yakima, where the instructions say "don't expect a lazy float day - you WILL be required to paddle etc"... Well.... I beg to differ on that one..and maybe it was the time of year. :) We had a lazy day of floating down the river - with a couple times we brought our paddles out. So this is the ONLY reason I rated a 4 star instead of 5. But should Rill Adventures update their information? Probably not - because this is probably dependent on who is in the raft, the guides, the time of year etc. Our rafting day was Wednesday - August 2nd - our guide was Andy (spectacular)... our drop off and meet up locations SEEMED confusing to me, so after calling Ninon a few times (She is VERY helpful) I felt 'ready' to meet. Once there it was MUCH easier than what I had anticipated. Everything was super organized....went thru 'safety checklists' before venturing out. My 75 year old mother was with us (she has never rafted), along w/ our 13 year old daughter (who is afraid of boating sometimes) - so the Upper Yakima, class I and II seemed the perfect match. And it truly was. We were a group of 6 - and NONE of the other 5 had ever rafted before, so white water or green water - they enjoyed themselves. :) ME TOO... becuz of the company of Andy (great stories and LOVES what he does) and my family. :) We upgraded to the $12 lunches and were AMAZED at all the food packed! Great quality and fresh! Even lunch for our Guide! (who was surprised to have gotten one, as he was new to Rill Adventures)... We stopped off for our picnic....and saw some old farm buildings and an awesome train tunnel! Scenery was gorgeous (even w/ Canada fires happening), guide was awesome, Ninon was ALWAYS helpful w/ the multitude of calls she got from me (from California to ensure we knew where we were going and prepared), the pricing was spectacular (I found them on Groupon, looking for rafting deals), and the location easy to get to and find. I think the directions confused my mom coming from Western Washington - she said there truly was no 'T" in the road off the exit ramp.... so maybe change that? Our big family reunion group had a great time floating the Upper Yakima with Rills. The guides were friendly and knowledgeable and they provided a yummy lunch. My friends and I decided to spend a day rafting during our recent trip to Yakima for Memorial Day Weekend. I booked our rafting trip with Rills during the week before the trip. The booking was fairly easy. I just called up the main number from the website and asked a lot of questions to figure out which trip would best suite our group. The lady behind the phone recommended the upper river trip since we were only going to have 1 car with us on our trip. This would allow us to park our car at the bottom of the river and then take the shuttle up to the top. Anyway, she recommended the 6 person raft for the 4 adults in our party. This way we could carry a cooler with us and have some extra room to move around on the raft. After making the reservation and providing payment information, she emailed me the confirmation in an email with the forms needed to sign before the trip. For the Upper River trip, we had some difficulty in finding the small shack on the side of the road where we would park our car before taking the shuttle. Just keep an eye out for the railroad crossing, it's right after that. Anyway, we checked in inside the shack, handed in our signed forms, and then boarded the shuttle. The shuttle ride was only 15 minutes or so and the driver showed us helpful landmarks for places that were good to stop for lunch or sightseeing. When we arrived to the beginning of the rafting trip, we were outfitted with life vests, listened to a quick paddling instruction, and then headed down to our raft. We boarded the raft and with a quick push we were headed down the river. The rapids were classified as Class 1, which really was a leisurely float down the river. In fact, as a group we intentionally paddled in Class 2 rapids (which probably were barely Class 2). We had a blast rafting and enjoying the float. We pulled over the raft twice to explore some of the river banks and then have lunch and even enjoyed a couple Rainiers. When we arrived at the bottom (back to the shack), we pulled the raft up the river bank and then called Rills to have them come pick up the raft. A few minutes later, one of the employees arrived and took care of the equipment. I did have a slight problem with my payment, as they initial credited me for the entire trip and then charged me twice the cost of the trip to make up for the mistake. They did send a letter to me in the mail to apologize and explain the mistake, which I really appreciated. I'd definitely plan a trip with them again as for 4 of us the trip was only $105 (inclusive of everything). read more

My family and I went on a six person raft down the lower yakima. There were four of us, so the cooler fit just fine and we all had some extra room. Wolfgang was really nice and made sure we knew what we needed to know. If I were to say anything bad I would say we had to wait around 40 minutes in the sun for the charter bus to bring the drivers back, but I cannot blame the company for the other riders not being prepared. It works really smoothly. You drive down to the put in spot, drop off any extra passengers, and then the driver heads back to the pullout site where the van picks them up. Once everyone is back they go over some safety, fit life jackets, and send you on your way. The lower yakima took us around three hours which ended up being perfect. They give you landmarks to watch for which helps you to see how far away you are. We stopped and ate right around the 45% marker which was really nice. Do watch for rattlesnakes although we never saw any. The current make it's really fun to just lay on your back and float. There is also a tall rock with a peace sign painted on it. Under there is about 30 feet of water and it's really fun (and yes, it is safe) to jump off. The pull out spot is very obvious. The driver should know where it is because that's where the pick up was, but Wolfgang made sure we all knew where it was. We had no problem pulling out, but another family missed which means your family has to chase you down or you pay extra for a "rescue" mission. I'd recommend water shoes for sure. Bring a swimsuit, shades, and sunscreen. The water can go from very deep to very shallow, but if you keep your body flat and stay away from rapids, swimming is a total blast. My friends and I rented three tubes down the Yakima river on a Sunday afternoon. We spent about 1/3 of the time frantically kicking ourselves away from the edge of the river so we wouldn't play bumper boats with bushes, rock formations, etc. At no point during the rental process did the website or staff mention that we should rent a paddle to steer ourselves to the middle of the river. At one point, we used our cooler lid out of desperation. The saddest part, when I mentioned to the employee at the end that they should really recommend paddles for rides due to the above experience, she said "Oh we don't do that." Well clearly, since you didn't warn us but maybe you should start. read more

Very professional. We all got a great safety briefing prior to rafting. Ryan made sure we knew the potential hazards and common mistakes made by rafters. The tour down the river was serene and beautiful. A perfect day on the river. We stopped a few times along the river to stretch and take breaks. These spots were some of the most beautiful places in Washington State. We also purchased the $12.00 meal which was sandwiches, snacks, and water. The sandwiches were fresh, well made, and very good. We had a group of 16 in two rafts. It fit us comfortably but we made a conscious effort not to bring much else with us. Overall, the staff was well informed and had smooth operations. Equipment was great and the river experience is AMAZING. Ultimately, a group of 16 is always going to have at least one dummy and ours decided to get out and swim right before the takeout. Meaning we needed one raft to rescue him and get out at the following take-out which incurred additional fees. This understandably frustrated our guide but she did her best to make sure the issue was resolved and we're appreciative of her time. A few reasons for being just below 5 stars: - When our dummy missed the takeout, there was major miscommunications between Wolfgang and the young woman guiding us about what was happening which resulted in Wolfgang (who was with our dummy and the two friends retrieving him) being pretty calm about the situation but our guide assuming the worst and almost calling 911. I think walkie-talkies could have improved this and probably lessened her stress. - Before the aforementioned incident, our guide wasn't particularly friendly and didn't make an effort to introduce herself even at the beginning of the day. That being said, our needs were a bit customized (see below) and probably added a layer of stress. - I coordinated over the phone to get a shuttle that would take 14 from our campsite to and from the put-in and take-out. When the shuttle arrived we were informed that only 13 could get on because one of the seats was holding supplies. Luckily we had a separate car that could take the person but it would've been pretty tricky if not. Overall, would recommend especially for first timers! Just be mindful that the take-out comes up fast and at least when we went, the river almost moves fairly quickly. read more
