I trained for my triathlon here over the summer and couldn't be more pleased. I'm knocking it a star because in the Fall, only half the lanes are open for lap swim at nights. The other half is for a swim team, which leaves the rest of us to double or triple up (or more!) per lane. That said, I'm off for a swim! read more

Every summer I take my little girl here. We always have a great time! This year she actually took on the diving board. She must've been inspired by the Olympics he-he. I've introduced a couple of mom friends to this place too and they just fell in love with it. It's close (20 min from SB no traffic), it's cheap, and it's a clean and safe place. Make sure you bring cash and food with you besides all the necessary swimming activity items (towels, sunblock, lawn chairs,etc). I gave one less star to perfection because I wish the big (lap) pool hours should be the same as the wading pool hours. The big pool doesn't open until 1:30 to public. I read the reviews and decided to check out my local swimming pool. This pool is nestled in a nice neighbourhood and is part of the park. I went there at about 2 pm , and there were empty lanes, so I could have the lane all by myself. I am not used to swimming 25 m , I much rather have 50 m pools , it will suffice. You can either pay $4 entrance, or if you are a palo alto resident, you can buy 10 passes for $30 and save money that way. The water is freezing. read more

The name should be changed to Riconada Masters Pool. I am a beginner swimmer and was denied use of the shallow lane because it was reserved for Masters. Once we went to Rinconada swimming pool . and I thought it was a great swimming pool . it has a slide and a mushroom . there are lifeguards and we have to wait a long time if we come early . but it was a great swimming pool for kids of all ages . read more

Just make sure there isn't a waitlist to get in, before you go. We brought a blanket, some chairs and food. The kids ADORE this place, and I love it too, because I can keep a close eye on them and they're super happy! Parking can be a pain, but such is life. read more

Great for toddlers, 1ft to 3ft deep! My son lived everything there! Wish more seating areas without dirt. All my stuff was muddy from the shady dirty areas. Overall it was nice for my toddler. read more

Fun spot for families with small kids! Beach style wading pool that is shallow enough for even 1 year olds can enjoy with their parent(s). Just wish they opened a little earlier and that the pool was a bit more heated. Also wish the slide was always open when the pool is open. Went last week and the slide was closed the whole time we were there. Staff are friendly and very focused on keeping kids safe which I appreciate tremendously. I also love that you can bring your own pool toys, food and drinks, and that they have lockers and warm showers! read more

Was here over the summer, my first impression was not the best, the "manager" was EXTREMELY rude to the party before us and was not helpful at all (they spoke very little English) and they ended up leaving!! A young man helped us he was nice, my mom joined us after with my niece and they over charged her, when I went inside to let them know the young man was being helpful and was seeking manager help when she walked over she was extremely RUDE and almost annoyed gave me such attitude and when the guy explained what was going on she looked at me and said "so what? You want your dollar back?!" To me it was NOT about the dollar why did she get over charged in the first place... not to mention I'm almost positive if I was a DOLLAR SHORT I wouldn't be allowed entry! I'm sorry if you're unhappy working there, but that's absolutely NO excuse to be rude to customers! I then asked another female employee for the girls name and that's when she told me she was the manager (I've forgotten her name since) she walked over to her and all the employees hanging out inside looked over and you can see them talking about the situation... super unprofessional. This is a review from the viewpoint of standing outside waiting to be let in, and never making it. Seeing as it was rather warm here on the peninsula today, and my kids were getting squirrely in the house, I figured I'd search out a public pool close by. I remembered a friend had mentioned this one, and thought why not. So we packed up our pool gear, and drove the 15 minutes it takes to get there from our house. Found a close parking spot, score!!! The kids were practically giddy with anticipation, being able to see through the gate on our walk up, and hearing all of the frolicking going on in the pool. Walked around the front of the building to enter...........and there we were met by a line to get in. Ok, so we'll wait. Except it didn't move. And no one really knew what was going on. Finally, a young man came out and announced to the sweaty group of parents and kids standing in the sun that they were only allowing a certain number of people in today. As people left, they let more in. Except no one was leaving. And the line wasn't moving. This didn't make a lot of sense to me. Sure, the kiddie pool area looked reasonably full when we walked by, but not overly crowded. The lap pool area where the diving boards were had maybe 10 people in it (this is where my kids wanted to be, on those diving boards). So why weren't they letting anyone in?!?!?! I understand that there is a limit on how many can be admitted, but it was obvious that they weren't near full capacity. I also understand that it could have been restricted due to insufficient staff/lifeguards. But they should just say that!! The only positive part of the whole experience was that the same young man came back out, and offered up slips of paper with other area pools. A quick call to one in Menlo Park, and we were in the car and on our way. I'm not certain whether we will attempt to go back to this popular pool again. My kids were pretty bummed out that they had to stand in line for so long, and not even get to go in. read more

Great pool for toddlers and children under 10... The pool has areas where it is really shallow and at the most gets three feet deep... Get here early on the weekends there are alot of people! Many of the people who were near us shared the grass area and moved over so we can park our stuff. There is vending machines with healthy snacks and its adjacent to the palo alto junior museum and a great park as well, Also the entrance is cheap and cheaper if you are a palo alto resident.. We loved coming here this summer and never found it overcrowded. We only used the kiddie pool with our two young children, but for a public pool it was clean, the staff were friendly and there were plenty of lifeguards. The only bummer was the one week we went and the fountains had broken. Otherwise I found the pool a welcome break and reasonable price. read more

Wonderful and cheap community pool in the heart of Palo Alto. The lap pool seems to be a favorite of serious swimmers of all ages but for my kids, the five petal wading pool is the bomb. Some features they like - zero inch depth to three feet, the mushroom, a slide and three stationary bikes. Me? I'm just thankful I don't have to shell out $10 per person every time I go. read more

This is my neighborhood pool. The lifeguards are nice, and the open lap-swimming times are frequent. It's more crowded for lap-swimming in the summer; in the winter, you can almost be sure of a lane to yourself. Their ticket-admission system is great--buy a book of 10 tickets, use one every time you go for a swim. read more

This pool looked so promising but we couldn't believe it when they didn't let us in. Apparently when they reach "capacity" they put people on a waiting list. a new regular at this pool. the water and the pool (bottom and sides) were really clean. i love that they have a lot of times available for lap swim! i got a 10 swim tickets for $30, which is a really good rate for this clean of a pool - but this rate is for residents only. there is sufficient parking on the street behind the pool. showers were clean, but not private, but i still give it five stars because of all the lap times available and it was really clean. lifegaurd staff is very attentive and plenty of lap lanes. I would give this place a 5 stars if the changing room was better, I know its Palo Alto but still I like lockers and changing stalls. Perfect place for the whole family. I'm so glad to know about this spot and it's $5 per adult! I really had so much fun with my family! They have a wide kiddie fountain/ pool area that's 0-3 ft. deep. My 1 year-old girl had a great time splashing around and seeing lots of other kids (and babies). For the "big" kids like me, there's another large pool area with swimming lanes and small diving areas. Yes, there are lifeguards. Other than the pools- the locker rooms/ bathrooms are convenient to use, but are quite grimy. So make sure to bring your flip-flops. read more

Most of my experience here is relegated to the Kids pool. We've spent many hot days beating the heat in this place. From water bikes and a tot slide to a mushroom waterfall and a wading pool, the kids pool offers a lot of fun for kids of all ages and swimming abilities. The price of admission is reasonable. Bring a picnic and make a day of it! Make sure you bring your own chairs as well --- they are at premium in this place and if you don't arrive early there's no hope of getting any pool supplied furniture. I made this mistake only once --- I was almost 8 months pregnant at the time and no one offered me one of the pool supplied chairs they were using! This is how hard these chairs are fought for. Also worth noting --- floaties are not allowed. It is the theory of the pool management that dependence on them causes adults to relax a little too much. In other words they want you on alert. Lifeguards are on duty here as well. read more

The pool was perfect for my young elementary aged kids. We came during a weekday during summer, and it got fairly crowded, so I can only imagine how crowded it is during the weekend. The pool has different "petals" as it's sort of a flower shaped pool but all connected, each petal has a different feature--water squirter, slide, mushroom fountain, zero entry, and a petal that was sometimes closed off for lessons. It's large enough to spread out, and you're not crammed in 1 "kiddie" space, but small enough where you can still keep an eye on your kids easily and see everyone in the pool. There's not much seating space, a few small tables, and a bunch of plastic chairs, so we ended up sitting on towels on the concrete, which was fine since we were in the water majority of the time. Lifeguards were attentive. I think there are only some vending food on site, but you can bring food in, so we brought snacks and drinks with us. We found parking on the street which wasn't a problem on a weekday during summer, but I can see on the weekend, you probably have to park on the residential streets. read more

Love this pool. Been swimming masters here for last year or so and it's very mellow and coaching is great. Not too crowded and 10 or so lanes. Surroundings with the redwood trees next to the pool are awesome. Locker room a little grubby - bring flip flops or you'll go home with athlete's foot! Gets very crowded on weekends during general swim hours in the summer and a bummer that it closes at 4:30 for kids stuff. read more

Just started swimming at the pool with the Master club. Great place for all levels of swimmers and also a variety of times to go - morning, lunch time, and evening. There are also open at different times to swim with lanes if you are not a member of the master swimming club. Love the place! read more
