My daughter has enjoyed the past month with her instructor Kylie! I've already noticed a lot of improvement and confidence just being in the water. Highly recommend for private lessons! My girls had wonderful times in the water but I would say 2/3 of their teachers weren't quite sure what to do with them. Many can't perform all 4 strokes well. The scheduling is also inconsistent, with students having different teachers weekly. Coach Stacy is very skilled but unfortunately it doesn't seem that the same skills were passed down to the underage staff. (Most are 15-18) I hope with time they are able to work with their employees regarding curriculum. My two have made immense progress at La Petite in RWC and at a slightly cheaper rate so if you are on the fence, I highly recommend them over Shipman. We loved teachers Sonja and Rose but both have left the school. We were informed by another parent that Zumer had yelled at Rose in front of them and their own two girls. The photos on this site are also incredibly outdated. Seeing all the old reviews from years ago, makes me wonder how things have fallen apart.

We left Crunch after 17 years (well, technically it was Gold's before but you get the point) because I had a female stalker and Crunch wouldn't help me (even with restraining orders). I was wildly unimpressed with their non-assistance. We went to Equinox bc it was supposed to be nicer and it was only a 1 mile walk from our house - fantastic. While it looked nicer, it was not nicer. It's old, outdated and limited. It's stupid expensive. And the hours really, really suck. So after a year, we left Equinox and we were wavering on going back to the Bay Club or joining the Y. Our kids really wanted to work out and the Y was a great option for a family plan. So we joined for them. While testing it out and thinking we might bounce out to the Bay Club, we ended up loving it. They recently upgraded all the equipment to smart equipment and I'm diggin it! I haven't seen these machines since I was at an upscale gym in Houston a couple years ago! I love the price ($185 for all 6 of us, plus it as daycare vs $230/mo at equinox per person and no kids are welcome) I love the normalness of the Y too. I may make great income, but I don't want to be with the stiffs. I want to be where my roots are.

There are no towels except small ones for use with disinfectants and thus that complaint is frivolous. This is Yelp and it draws a lot of defective people to complain.

It's not crowded ever, I've never once had to share a lane, I usually don't have to share the ENTIRE rec pool. I like it that way, alright? Sharing is caring and all but I don't wanna share. (I like the rec pool, because I've got chronic pain and mobility issues, and the warmer water plus steps or ramp to get in are both really helpful for that.) Buuuuuut I do want it to stay open, so. I GUESS you can also come to the (public) pool (that I don't own). Begrudgingly. Honestly it's nicer even than the time I somehow got a month of free membership to a private sports club. The single, solitary complaint I've ever had was that someone(s) misses the urinal in the men's room so badly that it smelled like, well, badly missed urinal. You know. And so I dropped off a comment card and they fixed it and even emailed me to let me know. Hello? That's cool, I wasn't expecting much after my experiences with Burgess Pool. (I want to love you, Burgess, but you still haven't been resurfaced and you're still bad to walk on barefoot. It's been almost ten years since I first said that. Come on, man. I know what the economy is like, but be so for real.) Like when I say "the locker room is nice" what I want you to understand is that it's individual stalls, with curtains (unlike Burgess. Come on, Burgess, you are losing in every bracket!) and granite surfaces and good water pressure and it actually gets properly hot. It's always clean aside from the single Pee Stank Incident, and it's not dripping wet all over. It's even tastefully indirectly lit? You can tell that Facebook money went into it, lmao. The pools themselves are great too. Warm, level with the pool deck, clean, clear, just really pleasant to swim in. Some flower or another around the pool area smells like honey and it's a little unreal. The deck is new and clean, with lots of seating and shade umbrellas. A lot of the parking is shaded with solar panels. The community center has great vibes too, and a weight room I haven't tried out but it looks nice and never too busy. But like, don't go here, okay? I'm letting you see my hidden gem but don't touch it. However. If you do, please, for the love of God, don't miss the urinal. If you mess this up for the rest of us I WILL find you.

There is a decent size play area for siblings/friends to play in while classes are in session. The lesson: My daughter had a great time and Mike was a great instructor. However for me I was a bit overwhelmed about the number of classes going on at the same time. The pool is divided up in multiple small sections so it was rather loud in there with each instructor leading their own class. Also, because the kids had to take turns, I felt like my kid spent a good chunk of 30 mins waiting their turn to swim. We are exploring private lesson options, however, it looks like they have limited availability. Overall would recommend for a trial to see if it is a good fit for your family. The facilities and changing rooms were great and prices are comparable to local schools.

Then we were charged for the next month. And the second lesson on the June was cancelled. And first two lessons in July are cancelled. And they have no return. Part of that was likely due to her being afraid of the water when she started at age 4, limited individual attention in a 30-minute group class, and not practicing much outside of the weekly lesson. Teacher turnover does seem a bit high. That said, once we switched to more experienced instructors who gave immediate feedback and corrections, my daughter's swimming improved a lot over the past year. Her age and increased confidence probably helped too. On the plus side, my child made the swim team this year, so overall the lessons have definitely been effective--it just took some time to get there.

They told us the slide would open at noon (not sure if it varies each day), but come noon they didn't have enough lifeguards so they said 1 pm. The kids were seemingly done w the pool, so I asked if we could go to the playground nextdoor or get food for 20-30 mins and come back for the slide when it reopened, and they said no- strict no reentry policy. Understood the pool situation, but wished there was a little leniency about reentry esp since it was within the hour, to accommodate us given the slide got delayed. Pros- warm showers, supplied floatation vests and goggles from lost and found which was a life saver bc my daughter was upset we left ours at home lol (but seemed to run out of the floatation devices). Note- they say no arm floaties but they do allow puddle jumpers if you want to bring, I'm assuming bc coastguard certified). Hope this helps! We overall had a great time.

The unique feature about this pool is that once in a while there's a water feature where the sprinklers go on in the students get drizzled with water in the pool, which is a lot of fun! In addition, little kids can slide down the little frog structure for extra excitement!
