    Froggy water feature.
    Michelle D.

Nice, clean park. Has a great little water feature for kids. My daughter loved pressing the button to make water spray out of the frog's mouth. She also liked how there were more than just 2 structures and areas to explore. She is 2.5 yrs old and was happily entertained for about 1.5 hrs. The seesaw was fun and the bigger structure was not so dangerous that she would fall too far and get hurt really bad if she happened to which put my mind at ease. When we went on a Friday afternoon it was not too crowded either. Has a bathroom which is a bonus. Also have bbq set up for reservation which is another plus. Great, safe neighborhood park! No complaints.

One of the better parks we've been to for our daughter. She's a toddler and loves the slides, swings, and see-saw. The best features (especially on a hot day) are the frogs. Don't worry. They're not real! They're fountains. The kids press a button and the frogs spit water. The park itself is on a quiet street. There are several tables with benches, including a kid sized one. Aside: I just read a review where a woman complained about sick kids going to this park. It's not the park's fault, but I have to mention that it is a bummer and really bad Park etiquette. This just happened to us this week. Anywho, we're really lucky to have Maddux close. We've met some really nice folks there. It's clean with plenty of room for lots of kids.

I'm always looking to try new parks with my 3-year-old and his buddy. I consulted Geoff D.'s awesome playground list and headed out to Maddux Park for the first time based on the info in his review. What'd I think? He was on the money, as usual, even though his review is almost 4 years old and the water feature isn't currently there (not sure if it's seasonal or just gone). Features: * Bathroom (minus soap & paper towels on our visit, but hey, we were just glad for the toilet and running water, which many parks lack) * Swings (both bucket and strap) * See-saw * Climbing structures with slides * Large sand area with some sort of water structure (not sure if it works, but kids love climbing in and over it) * Big lawn * Picnic tables * Street parking The park is fenced in, so it's ideal if you've got a runner or two. It's probably optimal for kids age 1-5. The kids had ball playing in the sand and running from see-saw to swings, to structures, to sand, and all over the place. We easily spent 3 hours at Maddux. There were lots of squirrels and crows (I noticed because my dog likes to chase). Dogs are permitted on leash.

Looking for a toddler playground I came across this one. Its a small neighborhood playground with everything you would want for your younger child. Parking is on the street but I had no problems finding a spot. The area is enclosed to keep the little ones in. There were child and toddler areas that included swings and climbing structures. An open grassy area was available for all ages. The water feature included two frogs spitting out water when you pushed the button. This was one of the few parks that the water was turned on (due to drought )and it worked well. The kids were enjoying it. Lots of benches were available and an area of picnic tables available for rent. Perfect for spending an afternoon. There was plenty of shade for getting out of the sun. And a bathroom for all. Overall a very nice neighborhood park that has all you could need for your younger child. I will frequent it whenever my grand kids come to town.

Pristine little park geared for midday outings with young kids. Maddux sports a couple of climbing structures, shaded picnic tables and a little water feature / sandbox area. The park's best feature for parents and nannies is that it's fenced in and only 0.6 acreas... so a single caretaker can easily watch one or two little guys and not worry that they will run into the street.

    Great for crawlers and toddlers.

Great park for toddlers. My friend and I took her 18 month old and we spent almost 2 hours here; he loved it!

However, I have noticed some safety and maintenance issues lately that hold it back from being a perfect 5-star experience. My main concern is safety regarding motorized vehicles. I frequently see local teens and kids--sometimes even elementary-aged children accompanied by their parents--riding gas-powered mini bikes or loud electric dirt bikes directly on the sports fields and paved walking paths. It is unclear whether there are explicit rules prohibiting these vehicles in the park, but no one is around to monitor the situation, and it honestly feels dangerous for pedestrians, field users, and anyone on the paved paths. Additionally, while the park is well-maintained overall, certain small details need closer attention. Specifically, some of the water fountains are poorly adjusted--either barely trickling or spraying water in every direction. It's a fantastic park overall, but better patrolling, clearer safety regulations, and quicker equipment maintenance are definitely needed to keep everyone safe. 4 out of 5 stars.

I noticed they had outhouse style restrooms which were cleaned, stocked with toilet paper and hand sanitizer. The path down is slightly downhill, and is dirt paved. Wear shoes you definitely do not mind being covered in dirt. Maybe a three minute walk. There were people picnicking quietly for an afternoon date on the lawn with a blanket, that's a great idea. There is a large grass area for many families to enjoy together. Seeing it in person was really nice. Brought some teenage girls here who really enjoyed it. We enjoyed taking some pictures together. I can absolutely see why people stop here for photos and the dome and pool make for a very pretty setting. That being said, I spent maybe 10 minutes here before feeling like I had seen it all. There's not a lot to explore and my visit was made particularly less enjoyable by how crowded it was. There were at least three people doing elaborate professional photo shoots and dozens of what I can only describe as full-on Instagram productions happening around the area. It was noisy and there wasn't much room to move around and it really took away from what I imagine is a normally peaceful experience. I was here on a weekday afternoon as well so I'm not sure when a slower time might be to visit. I feel like I should preface this review with the fact that I stopped here immediately after spending the morning and early afternoon at Filoli, so in comparison it probably isn't helping me have a hugely favorable opinion of my experience here. There are also signs advising that no dogs are allowed, which I think is pretty ridiculous. This is definitely worth a quick stop if you're in the area, especially because parking is free and there's no admission fee. However, unless you are one of the people who are spread out on a blanket or carrying boxes of props for a full-on production, this is definitely not a place that you would spend very much time. For me it was an interesting, very quick, one time stop.
