I recommend the €45 fixed menu (price doesn't cover drinks or a €3 cover charge per person) which offers three small appetizers, a first course of pasta (or risotto), a second course of seafood and to finish off, dessert. beautiful little restaurant by the sea in Riomaggiore! The city itself is absolutely breathtaking. This place is one of the nice restaurants and apparently you generally need reservations, but we were able to squeeze in no problem for a nice dinner. It's fancy, but because it's in the center of a beach town there is no dress code. People will come in what they were wearing on the beach. The view is absolutely breathtaking and the service is fabulous. I ordered the Scampi - fresh shrimp cooked and served whole with a cracker atop a bed of mixed vegetables with olive oil. Very simple but absolutely exquisite. The shrimp was probably the freshest, best tasting I've ever had. If you can get in I'd definitely recommend stopping by!! read more

The location is great, I bet they have really good food here, but my friends and I ordered a 5 course meal for each of us and got ripped off. It costed $125 euros for 3 of us and we got what the chief decided would be for that day. Not tasty at all, so disappointed. read more

This place is amazing and delicious and the service is the BEST. We loved our experience in Riomaggiore. The one thing I can say that really bothered us, which we expressed to the staff, was the waiting time for a table. Our first night there we asked if there was a wait and we were told 5 minutes...20 minutes later we asked how much longer and again, 5 minutes. After waiting for 45 minutes we left and went to the restaurant next door. The following night we thought we'd try again and once again, we were told there was a 5 minute wait which ended with being seated after ONE HOUR. The staff came out once during that time to give us prosecco and while the prosecco is nice we were again told 5 minutes which as a LIE... It took an hour! We were furious and expressed our anger to the staff. Our dinner and service was phenomenal which allowed us to let our guard down and they didn't charge us for our dessert drinks. I give 4 stars because they have a problem with telling everyone "5 minute wait"... It needs to be changed... It's costing them a whole damn star!!! :) read more

This was one of the best meals I've had on our month-long Italian adventure. Riomaggiore is a beautiful town that seems a long way from anywhere, I was expecting beach resort quality food-- good and fresh in the best case, but not imaginative and interesting. Rio provided a big surprise, with a truly exceptional meal. The escallop of fish of the day was simply sublime. I can't tell you what was in it or how they achieved the flavor, but it was a very simple appearing presentation of lightly poached fish pieces with a minimal application of two different light sauces. The flavor was heavenly, I've never had another piece of fish I enjoyed more. It was the kind of dish that one remembers 30 years later as exceptional. That dish alone earned it an easy five star review, but then I indulged in the dolce-- a deceptively simple vanilla cream with an almond crumble. I couldn't believe such "simple" dessert could be so delicious. Creamy and smooth beyond imagining, with a light but compelling flavor. Wow. Service was perfect, the house wine was very good, and the house-made limoncello that came with the bill (a drink I don't normally like) was outstanding, by far the best I've ever had. These folks are running a world class restaurant. I'd expect food like that in a big city place with a big name chef, charging 3-5x more for a meal. Get there and get a meal before they move uptown! read more

In Riomaggiore there are 2 restaurants facing the harbour, ristorante dau cila and rio bistrot. The first one has perhaps a better view but the food is not so good. rio bistrot is higher up so you watch over the harbour and the food is superb. Rio bistrot experience was a 5 star but cila I would give maybe a 3. read more

Had dinner reservations tonight, at 9pm for two. Seated outdoors, it began to rain, we asked the waitress what we should do. She continued to serve others as we sat in the rain, even thou we were there before any of them. We were not served water or asked if we wanted drinks, just left to sit in the rain. We left!!!!! Will never go back or recommend this restaurant. We were excited to have a table reserved on the terrace. Arriving on time we watched the owner give the last terrace table to Europeans. He made excuses offered us wine as a gift. Had we not had a terrace reservation this would be a nonissue. We felt treated like second class citizens. Five star from the bread (which included separate, excellent gluten free buns for two of our allergic diners), raw shrimp in shell appetizer, and seafood dishes (white fish over olives and potatoes, pasta with whitefish pieces blended in a wine sauce, and gluten free pesto pasta) to the desserts of best ever lemon sorbet (gelaterias don't compare) and chocolate cake w caramel sauce. We were treated like second class.... Made a dinner reservation for 4 people before traveling to Cinque Terre. At the suggestion of the person who took the reservation, we booked a table on the terrace. We arrived on time, and when the (European) group in front of us asked for the last terrace table the Maitre D' gave it to them.... I asked why they were given our table and all he had was a bunch of made up excuses. He did send a bottle of wine, but the initial treatment and attitude toward us put a damper on the evening. we ended up in a back stuffy corner. Food was ok, pesto was the best by far and worth eating. Balance was fine but not special in any way. read more

Pesto was the best we ever have had...and I think we are pretty discriminating. Other dishes were excellent, as was the service.

We did the tasting menu offered the day we visited in September and we were not disappointed. From the location directly overlooking the marina, to the friendly service and delicious food, almost everything that night was exceptional. We especially liked the first course consisting of a small bowl of bisque, a fried shrimp, and a mound of fresh, tender white fish that came from a humongous fish we saw them cleaning when we stopped in to make a reservation for that night. The host called it something, then just clarified by saying it was a "big fish." Indeed it was and the flesh was exquisite. Second course was an enormous mound of shrimp pasta, and third was the calamari fritti. This last dish was extremely salty, but the calamari itself was tender, so there's that. Dessert was some house-made lemon sorbet creamier than any I've ever tasted. For the price (about 35 euros each if I remember correctly) the amount of food is astounding. As the place is small we would highly recommend you make a reservation. Then mangia, mangia! read more
