Picked up lunch yesterday ~ got the combination meal with a chicken chalupa and spinach enchilada. LOVED the chalupa with seasoned shredded chicken and a crispy shell. Decided to try on a lark- we were seated quickly, greeted quickly with chips & salsa. Waiter Gael was excellent- friendly and attentive. Even though the place had almost every table full, we got our piping hot meal and were in and out in 40 minutes. I ordered a Santa Fe Chimichanga and it was delicious. A family owned and operated restaurant and it shows. The food is excellent and the staff is very friendly and attentive. They have all the traditional dishes that you expect in a Mexican restaurant, but the ingredients are superior. The bar is well stocked and all the prices are fair. Originally found myself in this plaza because I was craving chipotle. Chipotle was out of tortillas, cheese, barbacoa, lettuce, chicken, and chips. The service was good. The food was eh. It lacked seasoning. Over all a little to bland. The chips and salsa were a nice touch but the salsa just tastes like tomato, no hit of cilantro or jalapeño. The rice and beans were bland. The shining lithograph on the plate was the guacamole, which was really good. The fried ice cream must be fried in advance as it was cold and chewy not a warm and crunchy shell. Over all it was okay. It's not a place I would go out of my way to go to again. read more

As far as Mexican restaurants in Maine go, you'll be pleasantly surprised coming here. They designed the interior like a casita. It has very nice tilework and lots of colorful art and plants. Service was so/ so but I think that's just because it's so new and they're trying to get a handle on things. Food was really good. The chips and salsa are fresh. The enchilada sauce was homemade. Second time I've been here and I had the same meal both times. My cheese enchiladas with verde sauce and rice and beans was mediocre. Portions were on the smaller side (2) enchiladas. We have been to this restaurant a few times and today I really felt they have gone downhill they can't understand English at all we asked for our server because she gave us the wrong food and we got napkins they charge 5.00 for a side of beans and extra 5.00 for change of the way the chicken is cooked. Highway robbery. It's loud in the restaurant and hard to find your server. We heard a bunch of kids running around above us not sure if they have a daycare up there. We will not be back. read more

It was redecorated inside with tile, plants and decor but still felt like a chain dining for sure. We loved the table side guacamole, the jalapeño cheese dip(not spicy), and complimentary chips and salsa. The house margarita was ok. Tasted like a mix but was plentiful! The mango margarita was slightly better. We got spoiled by El Rayo's fresh tasting ones. For entrees, I loved the chicken chalupa combo with Chile Relleno. Came with refried beans and rice and I really enjoyed it. I think our only misgivings was the atmosphere and we felt it was pricier than expected for what it was...but what isn't nowadays? 150$ used to buy so much more. read more

i was very dissatisfied with the handling of my concerns at Rio Bravo. The amount of guacamole on my dinner was very small. Because I only ate 1/2 of the food I was planning to take the rest home and asked for more guacamole to have with it. They did not tell me I would be charged and added 3.50 to my bill. When I complained the manager refused to take the charge off my bill. I will not be returning and will be advising others not to go as well. read more

Worst restaurant visit I've had in a while. Arrived 5:55 or so. Told a 10-15 minute wait. Seated around 6:15. Chips and salsa arrived immediately, which was nice. My son is 11, so approaching the edge of kids menus, but we had to ask for one. He got chicken tenders; I got "worlds best tacos". We waited. We finished the chips. The server came by to check on us - not that there was anything to check on- and I put in a to go order that we wanted to take home with us. That was maybe 6:30. I think we got food around 7. It was ... ok. The "chicken tenders" was a fried chicken breast that had been cut into strips. The beans on my plate had been sitting long enough to be dried out at the edges. We were done by 7:20. Check arrived at 7:40. Takeout arrived at 7:55. What should have been a quick dinner took 2 hours. There was a lot of sitting and waiting. And not the end of the world, but - my son ordered bbq sauce with his tenders. They forgot it when the food came out. We waited for our server to show up and then asked. It was a solid 15 minute wait for the sauce. And when I checked the bill, they'd charged us $1.50 for 2 tablespoons of bbq sauce, delivered late. Overall, my impression was that it's bland, corporate-formula Mexican food with awful service. There are many better options in the area. One bizarre footnote: we were seated next to the emergency exit. Twice while we were there, two employees exited through the door marked "EMERGENCY EXIT ONLY ALARM WILL SOUND". The alarm did not, in fact, go off. read more

I have been here twice both times having amazing Guacamole made at the table. I had the Marco Polo tacos last time and The worlds best Tacos the time before both were excellent. When you are the son of the owners, and you were told that the ladies room is really a mess and needs attention at 7 PM... Your answer should not be to say "oh that's OK, it was a bunch of kids over there. Will get it at closing time." we ended up having to tell two other staff people about the situation in the bathroom before anything was done. Then, as we were leaving, someone had vomited in the hallway. Staff were just walking by it!!! No one covered it, or put a sign up, or anything. We left immediately after this. read more
