A good dive bar that has above average appetizers and solid beer choices. The service stood out the most. We were treated like kings.

I've been here on 3 separate occasions, this being the first time I've ordered food. Every time I come, I run into people I know and end up staying longer to enjoy perfectly mixed beverages and good music. I don't know what they do different in their strawberry margaritas but they are my favorite out of anyone else around. You can catch great live music or play songs from your phone on the new age music machine. I've been served by 3 different bartenders/servers and they all have awesome welcoming personalities. After trying a range of appetizers last night, I can say the food quality aligns with the friendly staff and fun environment. Everything was absolutely delicious and fairly priced. Highly recommend this neighborhood bar!

My husband really wanted to check this place out. So after work I met him. The down fall for me, the only GF option was pizza. I do not have celiac so if I do eat gluten I am not effected the way those with celiac are. So if I choose to eat gluten I will flare but it it varies. So, I opted to have their rum bucket, delicious! We shared wings and the steak and cheese egg rolls. I was very impressed. They egg roll had a cheese dipping sauce. Wings were cooked perfectly. We had sweet chili and BBQ. My husband prefers sauces on the side. They are served with ranch or blue cheese. I could not resist the chicken and waffle sandwich... if I was eating gluten as the phrase goes.... Go big or go home! I used a knife and fork for the sandwich. Chicken was perfectly cooked and the crispy fried coating had great seasoning. The waffles were light and fluffy on the inside! Totally drizzled with syrup and powdered sugar. Potato wedge fries on the side. My husband could not stop eating those off the plate. In speaking with the bartender (we sat inside at the bar) he informed me they are looking into creating more GF options. The atmosphere was fun. Great music was being played. There was a good size crowd and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves! They also have outdoor seating! I would have scored them a 5 but the lack of GF items at the moment prevented that. I do look forward to returning.

Brookside Food & Drink appears to be a typical dive bar behind a small convenience store, but the food is so good!! They have typical American comfort food but I got the crab ragoons and another week got the cheesy sticks and they were both good and super delicious. I went wed night both times since I do stand up and I'm a comedian and the courtyard in the back had such a comfortable feeling of like being in the back of your best friends house. Anyway, if you're ever in Westbrook, stop by here and the service is great. They're like a year old so I hope they have a long long future. :)

The beef was tender, flavorful, and piled just right, with plenty of sauce to make every bite satisfying without being too much. The onion rings were a standout--crispy, golden, and clearly homemade, with great seasoning and a fresh taste you do not get everywhere. This was one of those simple, classic meals done really well. Good portions, great flavor, and exactly the kind of local spot you hope to find when you are in town. I would gladly order this again.

What I opened up was two super beef sandwiches that were well done, flavorless & not rare like they should be. A north shore 4 way sandwich should never be well done. I'm more than pissed,I just spent $60.00 plus an $9.00 tip. The only good part of my order was the very kind woman who took my order. I'm expecting a refund on my sandwiches that clearly should have been rare not well done. I'll be calling George & to express my disappointment. I've eaten north shore 4 ways probably a dozen times from multiple restaurants. Never once until today has the roast beef been nothing but a perfect rare. From now on I will be forever ordering my sandwiches from Roasty's in Portland, Maine. George & Leon's you let me down big time

All 3 sandwiches were large and full of meat. We got it to go and by the time we got home, the sandwiches were a little soggy from the juices. Still was good though. The Philly cheesesteak was very good. A large was big enough to split between my teenage son and I. The roast beef was good, but I got a blast of horseradish up the nose after what I thought was a clump of Cole slaw, and I was done. My husband enjoyed his Reuben. Wish I could have tried just my order of Cole slaw. Maybe next time... I wished I had ordered the fries after seeing how thin and crispy they were. Waitstaff was busy, but sweet and helpful. Everything seems to be homemade there. Will definitely try again.

Ahh, the sign of a butchers cleaver. I am not sure what this provokes in most people, but as I've…read moresaid before, Stephen King gives me the heebie-jeebies. So for me, the butcher cleaver represents something tasty--except for when the shmuckabaloos haven't a clue what they are doing. Fortunately, this tasty little joint, Miller's Market up in Gorham, Maine, knows what they're doing! I'd been cruising the highways, riding the coast of Vacationland for some time now, and somehow, someway, ventured a bit further inland. Once I saw the burnt-orange cleaver in the window, I knew I'd have to give it a try and see if these hullabaloos knew what they were doing. I was greeted with a "Hey, how you'rrrr doin'?" The soft, rolling extension on the r made me feel right at home in Maine. Jeezum crow, you Mainers speak funny. But by golly, you are a lovable bunch of hillbilly farmers and fisherfolk. Anywho, I ordered myself a chicken Caesar wrap--wanting to feel nourished, but not to the point of comatose. Salad in a wrap--a genius way to feel healthy. Mind over matter. "Hand-cut fries or hand-cut chips?" the counter guy asked me. Now, I love a fry, but I'm feeling crunchy in these overcast late-April days. I hesitate, and somehow this mind reader behind the counter could sense it. "I can see you want the chips, but you gotta try these fries. Why don't I give you a little of both?" he says to me. Now I'm looking at him cockeyed--just another Mainer who seems to be able to read a man's soul. Well, I am here now--no turning back. And then my eyes widen when I spot a tasty crème soda in the fridge next to the register. My lucky day. Crème soda--the most underrated of all sodas. What's not to love? Creamy and poppy all in the same bottle. This guy seems nice, and I am in no rush, so I say, "Hey, throw it on my tab. I'm going to be a while. After I eat, I'm going to write something!" I pull up a spot without paying and know that there's no expectation to do so--at least not right away. Good ol' Maine courtesy, as good as this blueberry Jalapeño salsa from Pemberton partners, which I can apparently purchase at Millers Market, where it just ain't sangys it's home goodies too. I open up my futuristic-typewriter and get to work on my latest novel, but can't seem to find a single word. I glance at the menu--buffalo chicken pesto sandwich. Hard tellin', not knowin'. Mainers--brilliant folk when it comes to food. Pesto and buffalo sauce! Never had it, but I need it. That's bound to be tasty--as warm buttah' on lobstah. "Hi, I'll take my butter with lobster, please."--how it should be ordered. Dee-EEE --licious. You Mainers are shaking your heads right now, pesto and buffalo is probably a common thing round these parts, from ya? Nope I ain't and the rest of the country is far behind on the trend of the buffalo/pesto combo, I can promise you that. Then my food is brought out to me. It looks tasty--but the fries have me skeptical.... Find out how it all turned out at https://ryanccurtis.com/blog/timeless-fries-at-millers-market/n19c63

Indoor seating was lacking, and the menu wasn't huge...but trust me, the variety was just enough to satisfy just about anyone. I ordered the smash burger, which was messy, greasy and absolutely fantastic. I got the turkey club for my kids to split (and this thing was HUGE) they didn't finish it . My wife got the Cesar wrap, and she was beyond happy with it. She even brought half back home with us. I strangely suggest going on a nice day and sitting outside, it was wonderful. (Pro-tip; if going during peak lunch, expect a wait on the food. We went into Azul Tequila and got an appetizer to go so we could eat this while waiting for our sandwiches. Honestly, it's the best of both worlds)

First time visiting a Firehouse Subs location for both my wife and I. We had been mentioning…read morewanting to try this Rock Row location for quite some time and finally got here. It's similar in some aspects to other major sub/sandwich chains. Compared to one major one you don't watch your sandwich being made or make choices during sandwich building. We looked at the menu beforehand to make sure we had our sandwiches picked out prior so we didn't cause a backup of a line. They have a good variety of subs you can order. As long as you enjoy sub sandwiches you should find an option. The one exception I would say is for those who are vegan/vegetarian. They do offer one sub called Veggie, so you have an option but that's really it. They offer their sandwiches on wheat or white and have three different sizes available. I got a large of their Smokehouse Beef & Cheddar Brisket while my wife got a medium of their Italian. We both enjoyed them, although I will say we have had better from other national chains and especially better from more local spots too. The staff were quite friendly and the wait for our sandwiches was minimal. They do have seating for those who want to enjoy their food as soon as it's made, but I assume most take it to go. If you enjoy a sub sandwich and want to give a different national chain a try than your typical choice then come to Firehouse. We will consider them as a possible option occasionally but won't necessarily be rushing back.
