Bird & Co is my go to for " Artsy fartsy" tacos. Are they authentic Mexican tacos?? not exactly. Are they delicious? For sure. I love the Bahn Mi taco; the pork belly; and the Cubano. They're fun and yummy. I've never had a bad taco there, actually. At prime time, getting a seat there can be daunting, and parking can be hell, but not worse than on the peninsula. The drinks are all good, and the service is always friendly. Super cute interior, and getting an outside table on a nice day is a treat. read more

Bird & Co is hands down one of my new favorite spots in Portland. The margaritas are outstanding, especially the strawberry jalapeño. It's the perfect mix of sweet, spicy, and refreshing. The tacos are absolutely incredible, and every single one I've tried has been delicious. My personal favorites are the Tijuana, Pollo Diablo, and the fish taco. No matter what you order, taco 'bout a great meal. The outdoor seating is adorable and the perfect place to enjoy a sunny day. Our waiter was fantastic, offering great recommendations that did not disappoint. As if I needed another reason to love this place, they're on DoorDash, which means I can get my favorite tacos delivered to work. That's a win in my book. Great food, great drinks, great service. Home with yet another recovery and unable to get out and about. I've heard amazing things about Bird and Co. especially their fish taco. Located on Forest avenue, I have passed several times and have seen people outside sitting and enjoying food. It looks like a nice spot . The close proximity to my home for delivery was another reason for choosing them. Ordered via Uber Eats made selection of tacos super easy. Clear pictures and descriptions of each taco type was very helpful. We chose two house tacos one beef the other carnitas. The Bahn mi and the Al pastor. Also ordered the street corn appetizer. Food arrived after 20 minutes and was semi cold. Hubby enjoyed his two house tacos but was left still hungry. The corn was nasty! Cold and mushy took two bites and threw it away. Definitely an item that should only be eaten there as it did not travel wall. The Bahn mi was delicious, the Al pastor was shredded meat and super spicy. After three bites and could not tolerate any more. Gave to my still hungry man. I will have to go there at least once although where does one park to go there? I will start this off by saying that I never would expect this small establishment to serve some of the best tacos that we have been privy to in a long time! It is a quaint and small and unsassuming place that packs 'em in tight but the great thing is that I was able to book a reservation ahead of time for a Friday night and we were able to be seated right away and our adventure begins. There were many vegan options for my better half and she also got a non alcoholic margarita that she enjoyed tremendously. Got the chips and guac - love the chips but the guac was kind of lacking in flavor (reminded me of the guac you can get in the produce section of hannaford) . Got the bahn mi taco which I loved, the flavor was very unique. The fish taco was simple and could have had more pizzazz. Love the blackberry marg, and the churros with the egg custard and dulce de leche were spectacular. Bird & Co is the best Mexican spot in Portland. I'm not saying it's the most authentic, I'm not saying it's perfect, I'm not saying their cocktail program is going to change your life, but... 1. They take reservations (including for brunch on the weekends) and it's super easy to do online. How many places in this city are doing this? The answer is: still not many. 2. Their menu is clearly labeled with what's vegan and vegetarian. No guessing here, and the staff has always been quick to double-check with the kitchen if there are any questions or concerns. Segue... 3. The chips and guacamole for currently $10 are the same quantity of (and I mean this lovingly) overly salted, house fried - sometimes too fried - chips and a tiny scoop of good guac as most places in town that are CHARGING YOU MORE. Segue... 4. There are places in town now charging $8 to $10 for ONE TACO. And they're sometimes quite small. The tacos here average between $4.75 and $6.50 for creative, flavorful, interesting, filling options (also you can get them on either flour or corn, no upcharge). The menu changes from time to time, and I wish they'd bring back the fried yuca taco, but the solid vegan solid options right now are Adobo Sweet Potato, Fried Plantain, and Crispy Tofu. Segue... 5. The taquitos, brussel sprouts, and cheesecake are all vegan. Segue... 6. The brunch (10am to 2pm, Saturday and Sundays) options for vegans are probably the most impressive in town: tofu or chorizo or fresh avocado tacos, huevos rancheros, churro french toast, avocado toast, chimichangas. 7. The Mexican cold brew might change your life (... or at least make you really happy when you're playing hooky from work and having an 11am drink). Switch the tequila for house whisky, skip the vespertino, ask for a side of oat milk... no changes to the price when doing this, by the way, because they're THAT kind of place that isn't trying to punish you constantly with extra fees. 8. The staff is so accommodating, they're thoughtful, they check-in just the right amount. Sure, I've had a few bad experiences here, but overall... sit at the bar, make a friend, and just ask/just talk to them if you're missing something/need something etc. 9. The atmosphere here is Portland right before it became too cool (IYKYK). It's casual and relaxed, it can be intimate and loud when it's busy, it feels quite trendy yet still approachable when they've got their newly updated outside area set-up. 10. It's off peninsula which also changes the demographic and vibe entiiiiiiiiiirely. For the good. 6/5 no notes. read more

We've been a number of times and I think that the size of the restaurant inside (the bar takes up too much of the restaurant floor) and the service, that seems to be inconsistent, can be frustrating. As a native Californian, I was skeptical of Maine tacos. Service was good pace for lunch time on a Friday. The tacos were stuffed-like mini burritos (in all the right ways)! I didn't order it, but my friend let me try the pork belly taco and it was flavorful and super tasty. The pork belly was crisp and the flavors were there. A quaint and cozy environmental with an amazing vibe. Super chill and casual as a whole. The decor was fresh, light, and stunning. It seems like everyone loves Bird and Co and I'm just not one of them. I've been twice and I personally think the space is way too small for how busy it gets and it's on a busy street so I've never been willing to sit outside. The Marg's I've had were good but my husband's beer glass wasn't clean. Tacos come out on one tray and you're left to remember which are which. Remembering isn't something I'm good at while drinking Marg's so inevitably my husband and I mixed up tacos. Staff has been fine but it's loud and crowded. Not my scene and the food isn't memorable. Came here recently with my friends for a girls night and had a wonderful experience. We were a large group and had a reservation, I would recommend this for groups as space is small. Service was excellent, very friendly and every one was helpful. Great drinks including mocktails for non drinkers. We had several apps, the queso was phenomenal, some of the best I've ever had. We are visiting and stopped in at Bird & Co based on reviews. The place was hopping on a Tuesday night with both dine in and takeout orders. The food did not disappoint! We were greeted right away, seated at the bar, and given a few minutes with the menu. We started with the elote. Served on the cob, this was a tastebud treat. My partner and I ordered two tacos each...mine on corn shells. I had the crispy tofu and mojo shrimp. Both were extremely flavorful with a sweet heat. My partner got the street corn chicken and fish taco and said he understands why this place is busy! The interior offers a cozy pub-like feel, and patio seating is available too. The Brussels were cooked to perfection ... the picked onions and jalapeño sauce was AMAZING. I had 3 tacos / shrimp, my favorite of the 3 ... though something was super spicy - while I enjoyed it, some would not be able to handle it. Pork belly - second most favorite. I really had a problem with the seating in this place. It was cramped, with high tables and chairs. Not at all accommodating for a disabled person. The tacos were meh. I know some people have a different experience, but the cook was a new kid who just didn't cut the mustard on the day I went. The tacos were dry and flavorless. I paid too much for two tacos. The tacos are so very good. We have tried them all and can't decide which one is the best. My only suggestion is related to takeout. When you order a bunch (we are a family of 6) they will put the tacos in take out boxes but it's impossible to read the handwriting so we are often super confused as to which taco belongs to who. Wanted to love this taco spot, but just didn't hold up to the hype from friends. Thought the BEST (most delicious) things on the menu were the street corn and the chicken taquitos. Both had a little spicy kick to them, and some great flavor! I ordered the Tijuana (shredded pork) taco, pork belly taco, fried pollo Diablo (spicy chicken) taco, and the house (short rib beef) taco. All the meat seemed dry (the best taco had sour cream on it) and nothing was seasoned. Tacos were really just boring and flavorless. Churros with chocolate sauce for dessert were a little too hard for my liking, but were fresh. I do appreciate the option to replace your corn tortillas with flour ones. I also thought the service was friendly- and thought they handled rude customers (next to us) with the utmost respect and professionalism. Went here the other night for the second time and it was just as good as I remember. The space is small but getting a table has never been a problem. The inside is nice but nothing special but they also have some very good outdoor seating options as well. Service wasn't the best as it was pretty slow. The attitude of the servers was a little short as well but they were very busy. For drinks we got the marg and the sangria. The marg was pretty basic and a little tart. The sangria on the other hand was so amazing! And apparently I ordered the last of it when asking for another so it must be popular. To start for food we got chips and queso and thought it was pretty good but nothing amazing. The chips here though are homemade and very crispy and delicious. For tacos we got the Tijuana, pollo Diablo, fish, chorizo and potato, and the California taco. The tacos here are always very delicious and pack a lot of flavor. They always have a great selection of basic and unique selection too for great prices! My favorite out of the these were the fish and the California! We also got some loaded fries and for $14 you get so much. The plate is almost overflowing. Everything about the loaded fries is just what we want. And the meat within the fried is so juicy and tender and I love these everytime I have them. Finally we ended with some of their choco tacos. If you're looking for a sweet treat at the end of yourmeal definitely get these! They are a good size, very satisfying and the pistachios on top add a lot. Overall we loved the food and drinks here and were satisfied. The service was questionable but I really was focusing on the food itself and I was happy with what I was served.
