Bird & Co is my go to for " Artsy fartsy" tacos. Are they authentic Mexican tacos?? not exactly. Are they delicious? For sure. I love the Bahn Mi taco; the pork belly; and the Cubano. They're fun and yummy. I've never had a bad taco there, actually. At prime time, getting a seat there can be daunting, and parking can be hell, but not worse than on the peninsula. The drinks are all good, and the service is always friendly. Super cute interior, and getting an outside table on a nice day is a treat. read more

Bird & Co is hands down one of my new favorite spots in Portland. The margaritas are outstanding, especially the strawberry jalapeño. It's the perfect mix of sweet, spicy, and refreshing. The tacos are absolutely incredible, and every single one I've tried has been delicious. My personal favorites are the Tijuana, Pollo Diablo, and the fish taco. No matter what you order, taco 'bout a great meal. The outdoor seating is adorable and the perfect place to enjoy a sunny day. Home with yet another recovery and unable to get out and about. I've heard amazing things about Bird and Co. especially their fish taco. Located on Forest avenue, I have passed several times and have seen people outside sitting and enjoying food. It looks like a nice spot . The close proximity to my home for delivery was another reason for choosing them. Ordered via Uber Eats made selection of tacos super easy. Clear pictures and descriptions of each taco type was very helpful. We chose two house tacos one beef the other carnitas. The Bahn mi and the Al pastor. Also ordered the street corn appetizer. Food arrived after 20 minutes and was semi cold. Hubby enjoyed his two house tacos but was left still hungry. The corn was nasty! Cold and mushy took two bites and threw it away. Definitely an item that should only be eaten there as it did not travel wall. The Bahn mi was delicious, the Al pastor was shredded meat and super spicy. After three bites and could not tolerate any more. Gave to my still hungry man. I will have to go there at least once although where does one park to go there? Tacos & more! Once you find on street parking, you walk along the sidewalk to their outside seating area or if you'd rather inside. The outside has gardens, dial lights hanging from the ceiling, making it a very comfortable atmosphere. The tacos are delicious and delivered fresh to the table. You can select one kind of taco or you can select one of as many as you'd like. I chose to get the fish taco, which was very good, but my favorite was the pork belly. It was delicious the flavors the amount of meat inside was just right! There is also indoor seating, however, it's a tad cramped inside, so outside is the way to go if possible. The server was friendly and complimented my taco selections. My fiancé and I stopped here on a Saturday evening and ate at the bar. I loved how their margaritas were made fresh and not on tap. The blood orange was one of the best flavored margaritas I've ever had! We got chips and guacamole ($11), and our waitress/bartender said we could add queso dip for another few dollars. We did that and ended up not getting charged for the queso. We also got free extra chips to take home with the leftover guacamole. I will start this off by saying that I never would expect this small establishment to serve some of the best tacos that we have been privy to in a long time! It is a quaint and small and unsassuming place that packs 'em in tight but the great thing is that I was able to book a reservation ahead of time for a Friday night and we were able to be seated right away and our adventure begins. Bird & Co is the best Mexican spot in Portland. I'm not saying it's the most authentic, I'm not saying it's perfect, I'm not saying their cocktail program is going to change your life, but... 1. They take reservations (including for brunch on the weekends) and it's super easy to do online. How many places in this city are doing this? The answer is: still not many. 2. Their menu is clearly labeled with what's vegan and vegetarian. No guessing here, and the staff has always been quick to double-check with the kitchen if there are any questions or concerns. Segue... 3. The chips and guacamole for currently $10 are the same quantity of (and I mean this lovingly) overly salted, house fried - sometimes too fried - chips and a tiny scoop of good guac as most places in town that are CHARGING YOU MORE. Segue... 4. There are places in town now charging $8 to $10 for ONE TACO. And they're sometimes quite small. The tacos here average between $4.75 and $6.50 for creative, flavorful, interesting, filling options (also you can get them on either flour or corn, no upcharge). The menu changes from time to time, and I wish they'd bring back the fried yuca taco, but the solid vegan solid options right now are Adobo Sweet Potato, Fried Plantain, and Crispy Tofu. Segue... 5. The taquitos, brussel sprouts, and cheesecake are all vegan. Segue... 6. The brunch (10am to 2pm, Saturday and Sundays) options for vegans are probably the most impressive in town: tofu or chorizo or fresh avocado tacos, huevos rancheros, churro french toast, avocado toast, chimichangas. 7. The Mexican cold brew might change your life (... or at least make you really happy when you're playing hooky from work and having an 11am drink). Switch the tequila for house whisky, skip the vespertino, ask for a side of oat milk... no changes to the price when doing this, by the way, because they're THAT kind of place that isn't trying to punish you constantly with extra fees. 8. The staff is so accommodating, they're thoughtful, they check-in just the right amount. Sure, I've had a few bad experiences here, but overall... sit at the bar, make a friend, and just ask/just talk to them if you're missing something/need something etc. 9. The atmosphere here is Portland right before it became too cool (IYKYK). It's casual and relaxed, it can be intimate and loud when it's busy, it feels quite trendy yet still approachable when they've got their newly updated outside area set-up. 10. It seems like everyone loves Bird and Co and I'm just not one of them. I've been twice and I personally think the space is way too small for how busy it gets and it's on a busy street so I've never been willing to sit outside. The Marg's I've had were good but my husband's beer glass wasn't clean. Tacos come out on one tray and you're left to remember which are which. Remembering isn't something I'm good at while drinking Marg's so inevitably my husband and I mixed up tacos. Staff has been fine but it's loud and crowded. Not my scene and the food isn't memorable. I really had a problem with the seating in this place. It was cramped, with high tables and chairs. Not at all accommodating for a disabled person. The tacos were meh. I know some people have a different experience, but the cook was a new kid who just didn't cut the mustard on the day I went. The tacos were dry and flavorless. I paid too much for two tacos. The tacos are so very good. We have tried them all and can't decide which one is the best. My only suggestion is related to takeout. When you order a bunch (we are a family of 6) they will put the tacos in take out boxes but it's impossible to read the handwriting so we are often super confused as to which taco belongs to who.
