Since I was only going to be in Stockton for a few months, they helped me find an option that worked for my situation and provided a student discount. They were also upfront about the cancellation policy and let me know I would need to give one month's notice. What I appreciated most was that when it came time to cancel, there was no hassle or pressure. If you've belonged to other fitness studios, you know that ending a membership can sometimes be a frustrating process. That wasn't the case here--it was straightforward and exactly as they had explained when I signed up. The coaches are all great. They give clear instructions, keep the energy up, and repeat directions throughout class, which is honestly helpful when you're focused on your workout and forget what's next. One of the biggest benefits of Orangetheory is that you can just show up and work hard without having to plan anything yourself. The studio is well run, the music is good, and the overall atmosphere is welcoming. I also appreciated their understanding when I woke up sick and had to miss a 5:00 AM class. Working in urgent care during flu season, these things happen, and they were flexible and did not charge me a late cancellation fee. The workouts are in a group setting with different exercises and they're never the same the ones. What's also great about Power 45 is that you can go at your own pace & is for all workout levels (beginner, intermediate, advanced). The fitness center has all the necessary essentials, such as changing rooms, courtesy water dispensers, towels, hurricane fans, etc and equipments such as WaterRower rowing machines, TRX, weight benches, different medicine ball weights, bosu balls, jump ropes, resistance bands, agility ladders, battle ropes, etc. Also, meal prep plans are available for purchase. What I like about Baun Fitness is that it's a pretty safe and very clean gym for Pacific students…read more There's a decent variety of cardio machine (treadmill, elliptical, mounted bikes, etc), resistance machines, and free weights. There are two big rooms where room where TigerX classes are held such as Zumba, Bollywood, Yoga, Kickboxing, etc and you can look online for the schedule. And if the rooms are empty you can use it as a quiet place to stretch or do your own workout. Or you can play ping pong, but you it will cost you a few cents (Pacific Cash accepted) to get a ping pong ball but you get to keep it. If that that doesn't interest you, there are two racketball courts and you can rent rackets and balls for free. And probably the biggest highlight (*no pun intended) is the rock climbing wall and there are student instructors there to guide your way up. What I don't like about Baun is how the hours are short on the weekend and during undergrad breaks - which sucks for pharmacy students who are here year round or the community that use this gym regularly. Also, at the beginning of this year they took away the stairclimber :( and put in some other mock stair climbing replacement machine which I don't like at all. Overall, it's a pretty good gym for Pacific. It's "free" for Pacific students since its included in the tuition. I believe its around $25/month for alumni and I don't know the price for the regular community. It can get pretty crowded after students return from break but after a week or two it dies down quite a bit. There are showers and lockers available so you can freshen up afterwards.
