First time here and brought a handful of customers with me. The place is much larger than I thought, including a back patio if you wanted to sit outside. The immediate thing I noticed was the poor server attempting to serve the ENTIRE restaurant, including the bar by herself. This is completely unacceptable for the business owner to put that much strain on one person. As a result, we don't see her as much (she really tried), as well as forgetting things we asked for and sometimes, had to ask 3 times. This is NOT her fault - I blame their management for even allowing this to happen. There were 5 of us and out of the 5, three liked their meals. Two of us enjoyed the Chicken Burrito and another the Empanadas. My friend told me he disliked the seasoning on the steak fajitas but ate them anyway. As a result of the above, I will probably give them a pass next time and go somewhere else until they get their act together a bit better. There are plenty of other Mexican restaurants in Collierville to go to and likely will enjoy them more. read more

Perfect place for happy hour. Beautiful decor and ambiance. Flavor wise, it's bland, for example, the dip sampler, guac is decent but the queso tasted off and very watery. Elote was missing the authentic flavor and the salsa was mid at best. As for the pick two tacos, the rise and beans are good but both the tacos flavor wasn't impressive. Our server was very sweet but also seemingly a bit rushing us to be done. Overall, it's abit pricy for the quality of food that's being offered. First time trying them. There were only 2 tables of patrons (including us) when we got there for dinner. I was a little apprehensive that the place was empty. Nico/Nikko was our server and he was phenomenal! We started with chips and salsa and I added queso. I had to send the chips back. They were old, greasy and not warm. Nikko took care of that for us. He fried new ones and brought them out. They were much better and the queso was great too. I ordered the Rio Lobo bowl with chicken and my husband had fajitas. The food was very hot, very fresh and very good! I was quite impressed. My husband (the margarita connoisseur) said the margarita was fresh and didn't taste like a mix. He liked the margarita a lot. Since moving back to this Southaven this is the best Mexican food I have had so far. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about their menu. The fajitas were good and we were checked on continuously throughout our visit which was also a plus. The establishment was very clean and welcoming. I'll start with the positive this place is very nice. There's a beautiful bar inside. Maybe I'll sit there next time if I come back. The service is really slow. Our food all came out at different times. Kids had ate and were ready to go. Margaritas came out after our food. Rice was cold and hard. I did like the seasoning for my steak fajitas and the corn dip was good. Overall, the atmosphere takes the cake. We were there Sunday evening for a soft opening. So officially they haven't said Grand Opening yet. Still working out the kinks. Beautiful restaurant and bar! Our waitress was friendly. The menu was very affordable, I hope it stays that way. I liked the chips, salty and a little tangy, although some of my people said they were just ok. I can't comment on the service yet, but everyone was nice and had smiles on. We will be coming back again to check it out! read more

We've passed by Rio Lobo's several times and noticed their full parking lot and knew we wanted to see what it was all about! Rio Lobos is nicer than your typical Mexican restaurant and I really appreciate the nice decor and cozy sitting areas. They have a lively Happy Hour with drink and appetizer specials and on a chilly Thursday it really filled up! The Spicy Margaritas were delicious and paired perfectly with their chips and salsa (that were a step above the typical chips and salsa)! The bartender recommended my Bowl that was Exceptional and I highly recommend, and my wife raved about her Salmon Tacos! We finished with the Sopaipillas...and they were some of the best we've ever tried! The bar really filled up but the bartenders took excellent care of us and made our evening! 5 stars for sure!! read more

We're visiting from Texas and happened upon this quaint Mexican restaurant, only to have the best tortilla chips I've ever had in my life. Service from Brianna was excellent. Great food quality. I'm glad the restaurant isn't close to home, I'd be here every day for chips and salsa. Great prices and variety on the menu. I don't write many reviews, but this place deserved one. read more

Went with a friend today for happy hour. the hostess was rude and wanted nothing to do with us when we asked to sit in the bar area. We went early and got there about 5:45 and were seated immediately on a Friday night! Started with the drip trip and it was great. Love the salsa and chips too! Husband got chicken fajitas and said they were great. Other restaurants just bring you the tortillas. Here, they butter them, heat them and then bring them to you! Being new to the area, my husband and I decided to give this restaurant a try one evening. We went in thinking it was a Mexican restaurant, but it's more Tex Mex, which was fine by us. The atmosphere is charming. The staff took good care of us during our visit. The ingredients were fresh. We particularly loved the dip appetizer sampler. We also enjoyed our entrees as well. It started off with the host saying they did not have tables for five. They had tables for 4 or 6. Once he was able to figure out you could add a chair to a table of 4 or remove a chair from a table of 6, we were put on the wait list. We did not wait long. The food was mediocre. The salsa was not good. And we received 2 small bowls to share between the 5 of us. I haven't seen that done since before Covid. It's pretty standard for each patron to receive their own small dish. Maybe that's too picky. The service was ok but not outstanding. The worst part, besides the food, was the noise level was so high we could not hear each other talk. There was a man, who appeared to be a manager type, who was scurrying around the restaurant but I never once saw him stop and talk to a table of customers. They were busy. Came for lunch. The service was good (nice young man...didn't get his name). No complaints. My husband and I both got tacos. He got shrimp and I got Al Carbon (one steak and one chicken). Neither of us liked our meal. I think it was the seasoning they use on the meats. We also were not fans of the seasoning on the rice. The salsa was good but thought the chips were over seasoned. The queso was good, but not enough "kick" in my opinion. Maybe we'll come back and try something else, but probably won't. Too bad, I had higher hopes. read more

Very spacious and modern restaurant which includes a bar with big tvs as well as outdoor space in both the front and back - from what we saw- and ample parking. Reasonably priced menu. Unfortunately, practically none of what we ordered (guac, cheese dip, salsa, tacos, burrito...) was very well seasoned. The exceptions being the (overly?) Seasoned complimentary tortilla chips and maybe the refried beans. We felt the seasoning on the chips, while tasty, overpowered any of the food wr ate it with. The fruit/juice part if the flavored margaritas were fresh and quite good but the house tequila used in those didnt seem to pack a punch...we even asked for an extra shot (and paid extra $6 ea for such) but no...think it's just really poor tequila that I hope they reconsider. Hope they can tweak their recipes because it seems like a great spot to rival the always packed Local Lime 10 min down the road. read more

I went to pick up a to-go order. I can't say much about the service other than they were nice and they gave me my order. The food was absolutely disgusting. The cheese "dip" is so incredibly thick like a bad fondue. I ordered a couple of different things and the chicken was not thoroughly cooked. I was chewing on raw fat from a chicken thigh.
