I will NEVER visit this restaurant again. We came here because my mom wanted to try it. When I came the first time, I thought it was ok, so I thought let's give it another try. Well today I had the fajitas and they were terrible. The meat was tough and overall just bad. I asked to let the manager know that I did not like my food and so the waiter went to tell him. The manager did not come out and speak to me, he just told the waiter to tell me no. As a restaurant manager, good customer service is to come and speak to your guest but he did not do so. I also do not like the fact that they charge 18% service fee no matter what your party size is. It was only 4 of us. So because of this fee, we left no tip. There are much better places in Memphis to eat Mexican. Do not waste your time! Overpriced, terrible, mexican food! read more

The best things about this place are the ambiance and the service! All of the employees were so kind and friendly; they gave me compliments and really made me feel comfortable. All of the decor is beautiful and Instagram-worthy. I got some of the Taconganas-style tacos, which are crispy and full of melted cheese. They are good, but not my favorite tacos in Memphis. I genuinely don't know how this place is still open. Calling the food "Mexican" feels disrespectful to actual Mexican cuisine. Everything tasted like it came straight out of a freezer and was reheated by someone who's never used seasoning before. The salsa was basically spicy ketchup, the rice was dry and sad, and the beans had the texture of wet cement. Service was just as bad. We waited forever, and when the food finally came out it was cold--like had time to reconsider its life choices cold. The staff acted like our presence was an inconvenience, as if we personally ruined their day by walking in. The restaurant itself was dirty, sticky tables, questionable smells, and an overall vibe that screamed "health inspection pending." Prices were wild for what amounted to cafeteria food at best. Save your money, your time, and your stomach. This was hands down one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had, and I will actively warn people to stay far away. read more

I was running some errands on a Friday morning and decided to stop here for a somewhat early lunch. It was just at 11am and they had just opened up. When i walked in, i was greeted by their staff who was having a quick morning huddle! I chose to sit at the bar. The bartender quickly came over and asked if id like some chips and salsa but in declined. I ordered a spicy margarita and to my surprise, tacos ganas (food truck) served their street tacos here. When i asked the bartender about them, he said that after the owner of the food truck had about 9 trucks, he decided to do something a bit more upscale. I forgot to ask if they were owned by the same people though. My bartender began making my drink and the host looked over and said "that drink is going to be so good, he's a great bartender" so i was ready! My drink was in fact, delicious and cute! My food came out shortly after and it in fact looked like the food truck tacos but instead of a Togo box, it was on a plate lol. The tacos were so great and they did not hold back on the meat!! Everyone always skips the cabbage but it is truly my favorite. With every bite of taco, i had to take a bite of cabbage too! It pairs so perfectly! The bartender checked on me frequently and overall, the staff were great!! I will definitely stop by again if I'm in the area. Right before leaving, i stopped by the bathrooms! Went with a friend who highly recommended Uncle Goyo's when Local Lime was busy. We were both surprised to find out that this was in fact TACOS NGANAS. The menu was completely different from what my friend remembered and from what's seen on Google. The queso was bland, and looked odd. The ceviche was edible. The (overpriced) salsa tasted like something from a can--bland and somehow overly spicy. The entree tacos I had were fine. The service was subpar. It wasn't busy at all, and we barely saw our server. We had to ask for water refills, which only one of us got. I asked for the same drink as my friend when I arrived and never got it. (She thought the drink was subpar anyway). The food runner brought out my friend's fajitas, dropped the foil-wrapped tortillas on the ground then proceeded to place them on the table anyway. And both times, the bartender struggled to understand I wanted a vodka with water, single tall. I almost had to go behind the bar to show her wanted I wanted. We ordered from both sides and everything tasted great and may have been slightly cheaper than the original menu. The margaritas were beautiful and fresh tasting. The chips and cheese dip is the same in that it has never come with enough chips. Also, some of the menu items indeed are very greasy, so beware. There seemed to be confusion with communicating which side of the menu we were ordering from (and both sides have some similarities which was odd to us). Oh man I love the food. Is it more expensive than their food truck? Of course. It's fancy. They serve all their food and drinks in cute little containers that I loved. The menu is really small so I wonder if they'll expand later but quite a few things looked tasty. The only thing I was sad about was that the guy making the tableside guac didn't make it like next to our table so we could watch but rather behind us. It's fun to watch them make it! The sauce was good, but I didn't like how bland the chicken was. Hubby says this is how it is normally made but that the mole was a little sweeter than he preferred. It was done well, but not my thing. I did like the choriqueso we got but I strongly suggest asking for a spoon. Came for a Sunday late lunch/early dinner. When we got there, there were only 2 tables occupied (that tells me what I need to know). We were immediately seated. It took about 8-10 minutes before anyone came over to acknowledge us and take a drink order. The server came over and said "what do you want to drink". Did not say hello, my name is ..... Nothing of the sort just "what do you want to drink". This was not a staffing issue. There were PLENTY of staff standing around. My husband ordered a margarita. I wanted a frozen margarita and they don't serve those so I did not order a cocktail. We ordered a small cheese dip. It arrived lukewarm and thick. I did see another table with chips and salsa (we didn't have that). I asked the server if they served complimentary chips and salsa. He said "oh yeah I forgot". He went and got us what we should have already had. I ordered 2 tacos and street corn (server said this was his favorite side). Husband ordered 2 tacos. Took a good minute or two for food to arrive. Ok I just have to talk about this corn. This was literally the WORST mexican corn I have EVER had. It was canned corn swimming in liquid covered in mayonnaise and cheese. It was absolutely ridiculous!!! All the food was greasy, unappealing, lukewarm and watery. The presentation was awful. Food just thrown on the plate. This was a terrible, terrible experience. What an unexpected surprise it was to eat here tonight. We decided to try "the new Mexican joint that opened" ..... I mean let's face it , most Mexican restaurants around here are your basic ' rice, beans, crunchy taco, nachos, fajitas, burritos etc etc etc... they all have the plastic drink glasses , a big basket of chips and salsa etc... This place is different. Definitely more authentic.... although I lived in Mexico for 3 years ... it wasn't exactly like where I lived but it's way better than almost any other sit down Mexican restaurant around here. More upscale, more atmosphere, real glass glasses and cloth napkins ... exceptionally run from an operators standpoint ... I mean impeccable service. Genuine friendly, checking back a few times to make sure everything is good and see if you need anything , refilling drinks, wiping the table crumbs off when you're done ... this was the type of service and training I expect for example at Southern Social but I didn't expect it from the new Mexican joint. The food was very good and somewhat pricey ... but worth it. I'd say my favorite Mexican is still a couple of the food trucks around Summer, or Tony's in Collierville ( in the Shell gas station) ... but those aren't places you go for a nice dinner or on a date Edit ** just found out that these are the owners of TacoNganas , which is one of my favorite taco food trucks ( Summer Ave and also Cordova) This place is a genuine very nice restaurant , but not too fancy .... that happens to be Mexican I think they've done an incredible job and will do very well ... and we'll def be back read more

For it to come with two $7 side dishes for only $30 is beyond my comprehension, especially for a small family-owned business. This restaurant serves craft Margaritas and cocktails as well as fresh sangrias, but you won't find any fishbowls here. Flavor is the name of the game at this establishment. Look for drink specials and updates! Taco Tuesday is one not to miss. Get three tacos, but don't miss the Quesabirria (juicy and crispy and cheesy) for one selection. For the vegetarian, there are several menu items that are vegetarian or could be made vegetarian. Their version of street corn is an off-cob side dish with mayo, chili powder, cheese. I visited Uncle Goyo's on a Friday night with my husband and it was our anniversary. We were sat rather quickly and the service was decent. However, to start off, I wasn't overwhelmed by the table side guacamole; it was just ok. The taqueria styled salsa was good though. My grilled chicken was decent. But could've had more veggies and perhaps a tortilla to make tacos. My husband likes his enchilada though. My mojito was great and my husband enjoyed his two margaritas.
